:morning:
Phew, I can report that the scorpion was not that poisonous.  Apparently they are very common in the area I live in (wish I had know this sooner - lol).  Thing is although they are not deadly I still don't like them and don't want them in the house!
But it's a relief to know...

I have a ridiculous phobia of spiders but since I got Bella, I've rarely seen a live one ... she usually finds and munches them before I even see them  :evillaugh:

Are you sure?  Do we actually have scorpions in this country?

Yvonne ... I don't want to alarm you but there are actually quite alot of scorpions in the UK but i think you'll be safe http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/eflavuk/es.htm

If you want to go scorpion hunting you need to take an ultraviolet lamp with you as scorpions glow bright green/yellow under UV light.

Lana,

Glad the boys were OK and didn't get too close to the scorpion.  Although I find them very interesting I'm not too sure I'd be jumping for joy if I had one in my house.

When my mum was little they lived near a depot that imported fruit from abroad, and she found a violin spider (v poisonous, think they're South African) in their garden - she said it was the size of a dinner plate .  She was trying to feed it strawberries when her mother found her  :evillaugh:  Apparently they got on the local news but didn't see it because they didn't have a telly  :evillaugh:

Are you sure?  Do we actually have scorpions in this country?

The banana's had come over in a shipment and then brought straight to the place, its the only thing the greengrocer could think of and when our doctors did searches on the scorpion to identify it to work out how posionous the sting could be or not it came up and fro the country the banana's had come from.    We had to call the RSPCA to come and collect the scorpio from us.

We had a green grocer come into work at A&E with a scorprion bite and ha dthe scorpion with him in a jar - it'd come from a box of banana's he had delivered!

Ugh what a thing to find!

Grandparents on occasion have a scorpion in the house, though that is in Arizona.

For years I couldn't walk on their floors without boots.

Glad your kitties are fine.

My OH has actually got a phobia of scorpions which I find extremely weird considering there is none in these parts here... :shify: So glad it was'nt him finding it or that would be the end of the tray cleaning!  :scared: Which is more of a phobia for me than the scorpion!  :evillaugh:

lol, I had to cope... no other choice.  Here in the "platteland" where I live we mostly still have only gravel roads, a few roads tarred so it is really still very rural and with nature comes all the lovely spiders, scorpions and snakes  :evillaugh:  I've had quite a few spiders in the house but this is a first and hopefully a last...

What a shock :o I got this morning when cleaning the litter boxes.  You won't believe what I found in one of them... a scorpion!  I almost  fainted :faint: but luckily not.  Had to make a plan to catch it, and eventually I managed to get it in a jar.  Taking it to a guy this afternoon to check if it is poisonous, he is a very good field guide in the area.  I checked both kids, Samui and Sullivan and they seemed fine.  Phoned the vet and he said it is very unusual for cats to get stung by scorpions and if they aren't licking one spot a lot they should be fine.  I kept a close eye on them until I left for work but they played etc. so I am sure the scorpion didn't get to them.  And both used the litter boxes this morning - phew!!!!  what a relief that nothing happend.  And this was inside, don't know how it got in!  This is probably the only "downside" of living in a very small town with loads of open fields and rocks etc. you never know when a snake or scorpion is lurking about....  Just gonna be extra careful from now on!
