Homecheck is scheduled for tomorrow evening and, if all goes well, hopefully Evina will bring Tilly down on Friday providing she is free.

Getting very excited to meet Tilly now!!

Hi All,

Thank you very much for your advice and support..

Subject to a home check, I hope to be able to welcome Tilly later on this week! Once homed I will start up a new thread in a more appropriate forum to keep everyone updated with her progress (including pictures of course).

Hi all,

I have chatted with Evina today about possibly adopting Tilly. Though I need to do some final checks my side it is all looking very promising. I hope I'll be able to provide Tilly a lovely home. This is my first experience with an FIV or indoor cat however, and I am a bit nervous about healthcare, insurance and potential vet bills. If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. I will no doubt be on here asking questions from time to time to ensure I am doing the best I can for Tilly. Evina and Sharon have already been very helpful!

Many thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve & thanks for the follow-up email &  :welcome: to Purrs!

I am sure that you will always find great advice in these forums, so do keep in touch and keep asking questions. Tilly is doing well and upon your final decision, I would be happy to arrange for a homevisit and subsequent arrangement to have her at yours.

Speak to you soon I hope.

Hi Steve,  :welcome: to Purrs  ;D

There's quite a bunch of us on here with FIV cats, so feel free to ask any questions at all, we're all here to help  ;D

I've had my boy Max for nearly 8 years, I adopted him aged about 2 and he'd been picked up as a stray, and tested FIV+.

Like you I was a bit nervous of the implications, would I be adopting a sick cat etc etc, but I can honestly say that apart from a dental a few years ago (FIV cats are prone to issues with their teeth and gums), we've had no problems.

He's just starting to get kidney issues now, and we've had to switch to a renal diet and monitor how things are going, but to be honest, any 10 year old cat could have exactly the same issues  :shy:

You will be able to get insurance as well for an FIV cat, but the policy will not cover anything they think can be related.  I've got mine purely if he broke a leg or something like that whilst hooning around the house (he's a bit of a hooligan is my boy  :evillaugh:).   I know that many rescues will help with vet bills on cats with illnesses as well, CP have always said they will cover Max's bills ....... I've not taken them up on their offer yet, but its nice to know that if there is ever a very large bill, they may help me out with it, even if I pay them back over time.

Give us a shout if you've got any specific questions you want answering, we'll do our best  ;D

Hi Steve and  :welcome: to Purrs,

Excellent news that Tilly will hopefully be coming to live with you.  You've come to the right place to ask questions .. you'll get plenty of excellent advice.

With regards to insurance this is a question that comes up regularly so if you go to the home page and type insurance in the search box you will find LOTS of threads!

There is also a section especially for FIV & FELV kitties where you will some excellent advice and where you can post any questions relating to FIV http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/board,10.0.html

All the best

Hi there!
I had a call last week about a person who lives in a flat looking to adopt an FIV puss cat (or disabled etc)  (see my thread under FIV ptential cat home).. I wondered if Tilly could fit the bill? The home is in Canterbury, Kent?

;D By all means we can try if the lady is still looking, Canterbury is not too far from us and this is one of these cases where I would be happy to give it a try if the home is right and they would like to have Tilly.

I will go to your posting and we take it from there.

 :thanks:

Is Tilly homed now?

Hi,

Tilly was homed last week and returned a couple of days ago due to the couple breaking up!!!!

The one who adopted her was kicked out of the flat (which I confirmed the following day), so Tilly had to come back.

Tilly "occupies" my breakfast room and kitchen area and is getting along famously with my two dogs, Tristan the greyhound and Zouzouna the yorkie. They both are cat-friendly (of course) and I was amazed to see that she is dog-friendly hands down!

Such a healthy active cheeky girl, I bet she will have a happy healthy long life in the right indoor home.

Come on everyone, lets find this girl a really nice forever home!

Cheeky & curious 2yr old Tilly was left behind after her family moved away, to be cared for by lovely neighbours. They thought Tilly is such a wonderful cat that she needed a forever home all to herself, so they called for our help. She is a great little cat and loves her cuddles. She is also an inquisitive young lady and loves to be entertained by scratching posts and toys galore!

Tilly has just been tested FIV positive, which means that she needs to go to an indoor home. Having said that, being so young and strong means she has many healthy years ahead of her and with the right caring healthy environment, she will undoubtedly thrive. To all intends and purposes Tilly is a healthy cat and will need to be homed as an only cat. She will reward you with her affection, we can assure you.

Tilly is spayed, de-fleaed, de-wormed and fully vaccinated, so she is ready for her new home. We can even microchip her for you. Please contact us if you would like to visit Tilly at her foster home. For more info, please contact her foster mum Evina on 0208 4808015.
