Wow that seems really expensive to me mbll, when I had Ozzy done it was £20 for him, then Daisy was done at £30, they've just increased their prices to £25 and £35. Mind you its a neutering and vaccination clinic only so maybe thats how they keep their prices down  :puppy:

When you ask for a price  for neutering this is done over the phone  or if your in the vets there & then, this is for the full price including pain killers......not a quote & not done by post.  You could always phone your vet again & ask.    £25 is very cheap as my vet chargers £40 for a  male & £60 female

thanks for your help... I'll wait and see what the quote says before I do anything else, I might be worrying over nothing.

I'm in their 'healthy cat club' which entitles me to 10% off the op so I would prefer to get it done with them.

It was £29 at our vets when Tommy had his done at the beginning of November.  A one off fee that I was given when I booked him in!

now the nurse said that she would send me a quote in the post...

I have never heard of this before.

Round here neuters are between £20 and £30 depending which vet. At my vet is it almost £30 but includes a Prue MOT on the day of the op and a check 3 days after the op to ensure all is well.

It should be a one off fee !

Never heard of being given a quote for neutering !!

Ring another Vet and they should give you a price over the phone

£24.99 sounds very cheap for neutering a male so I think there will most likely be fees on top of this. Think neutering a male cat at my vets is about £40-45

I booked Barney into the vets last night for his little op for next Thursday.... now the nurse said that she would send me a quote in the post... is this normal?!

You see they have prices up on there board in the surgery and it was something like £24.99 for a male which I assumed would be the charge... Now the last time I got a quote (for xrays) from them they had listed all kinds of things like 3 x-rays, blood tests, fee for being in the surgery all day, anaesthetic and a few other bits...

So what I am asking very badly is when you take a cat in to be neutered is it normally a one off fee or would the £24.99 not inclue the anaesthetic etc... total newbie at this and I am worrying that to have his little op is it going to cost me a small fortune?!
