Oh hell Gill.
Got go ahead from OH and would so balance the colour scheme. 2 black versus 1 tabby/white and 1 white/tabby but I have a feeling outdoor access will put kybosh on it which I fully understand. Obv no outdoor access for first 3 to 4 weeks  tho.  Where is the fingers crossed smiley  :(

Treat me as anonymous JS and only consider if you really have to part with this girl and cannot find a more suitable home. Haven't even properly begged OH yet as think 24/7 access and distance may well put you off.

Anonymous lives in Birmingham on quiet road (surprisingly green area altho still lost a beautiful boy to RTA in Sept 2006) with existing 3 boys aged 4, 6 and 18 (all had their ops) and none are agressive to other cats. Noni would have to be 24/7 outdoor access thru catflap. Any cat in our care would be loved and well cared for.  Most of our cats have lived to ripe old ages.

Oops, preferably Derbyshire. Wizz is going to help with any homechecks although it has to be said that currently Noni is slotting into the group dynamic VERY easily and playing with my youngest cat. (Quite an achievement; Little Cat is very skitty!)

Believe me, I'm trying. I've phoned the woman at least half a dozen times - honestly, I don't know why some people have phones! :tired:

She's such a sweetie, I'm going to miss her when we find her perfect home. (Whenever that may be!)

Was just about to update! Got the name of the vets - hurrah! Unfortunately I called the vet and I need her surname....back to the phone it is! :tired:

Noni is a little bundle of love.  :Luv: She decided my partner was the perfect seat yesterday and was tarting up to him spectacularly - I could see the "no more cats" rule melting away from him.  :innocent: I think whoever she lives with she'll love like that, to be honest!

Also, if she had just had 4 kittens there would be evidence of milk production, this lady sounds like a liar  >:(

She said when Noni turned up at her house she'd just had kittens. She didn't say that was recently. But I will agree it's starting to seem more likely she wasn't entirely truthful about the spay. I've called her mobile a few times today - the first time the call was ignored the next two times told me the number wasn't available. I'm going to ask my mum to call her for her "vet information" from a number her mobile won't recognise and see if she has any luck!

Thanks for the advice. I actually took Noni to the local vets for a VN check - she said the only way they can guarantee she hasn't been spayed is to put her under anaesthetic and check. That seems an awful amount of invasiveness if she has been spayed.

Thats the 100% way but they could clip her and look for a scar. It is invasive if they open her up only to find she has been done BUT what if she has silent heats and her new owner gets caught out and ends up with kittens  :shy:
Better to be safe than sorry imo.

Phoned both the vets closest to her - there are no details of her address on record. Am off to call her mobile now, if I withhold my number, she won't know it's me!

*Note: No answer on phone. Will keep trying.*

If someone is being that awkward the chances are she isnt? If you know where the lady lives could you not do abit of a ring around of the local vets? They want give details out but they should confirm neutering status.... Also is she is chipped the vet that has chipped her would probably be able to trace back if she is on their books and spayed. You will need to get to a vets to be scanned if you dont know the number of the chip, any vet can do that and they can at least let you know the status of neutering either by the chip details or via them perhaps ringing the vets for you that registered her.

My gut feeling is that if they didnt flea and worm her then she has probably never been to a vets in her life!

The lady I collected her from said when she turned up at their home she'd just had a litter of four kittens and none of them survived. I have emailed her twice asking for the contact details of the vet she used for the spaying with no response. Guess I'm just going to have to call her and hope she answers.

She is a lovely little thing. On Freecycle she was listed as a "fluffy grey cat." :-:

Hello there.

Puss is lovely... but its true to say that without proof dont believe a word anyone says about vac and spaying.. I had a call this morning told me outright puss was neutered, full vac etc.. Turns out to be totally untrue.. ..

One bit of advice contact your local CP and get her spayed before rehoming just to make sure she doesnt add to the growing number for cats advertised on Freecycle (which is heart rendering for rescues)....The only sure way to make sure this is done is to do it now.  I wouldnt rehome her without that being done.... people do forget!!

Thanks. :) I have to admit doing her write up was really hard - not because there's nothing good to say about her; there's loads. But because she's been here a little over a week and if it wasn't disrupting my mob so much we'd keep her. LJ always gets bossed around by the younger newcomers (poor guy) and Big Lad always takes exception to their presence. Little Cat is nervous of everyone and everything (always has been - she's been known to be sick and run away from it!) - the only one who doesn't appear to really notice is Old Mog, but I think that's because she can't remember if they've always been there or not! :-:

Noni................Derbyshire HOMED
« Reply #1 on: April 10, 2008, 10:53:18 AM »
Noni

Noni is an eighteen month old female longhaired brown tabby. She came to be with us through the local Freecycle.

She is extremely chatty, affectionate and confident. She enjoys playing a lot and has a mild obsession with taps!

Having four cats of my own and allowing her around them to see how she reacts, I feel she would be able to live with another cat, but feel any more than one and she may be a little overwhelmed.

When I collected Noni, I was told she had been flead, wormed and spayed. Unfortunately, all communications with local vets have resulted in no definite answer regarding this information. She hasn’t been innoculated or micro chipped to my knowledge. We ensured she was flead and wormed the week she came to stay here.

Whoever offers this young lady a home would be obligated to keep in touch via email to send me updates and photos from time to time!  If prospective humans do have another cat and either cat is obviously unhappy, we would take Noni back in.

Nonis lucky new human would be asked to make a donation to Wizz Cats Rescue in Sheffield. She has been very helpful and allowed Noni on her rehoming page.
