Raisins shouldnt be fed to cats either - I didn't find that out till after I shared my blueberry yoghurt coated raisins with Snowy though (she already had liver issues and did get worse after that). Pebbles would also go bonkers for fruit cake, I was eating some at the PC one day and she was practically ripping into the bag!! Oddest was my ex housemates cat who would attack you for ricecakes!!

Not sure with mice and rats... even among hamsters, dwarf winter white (like Napoleone) and Syrian were different, Syrians, much bigger, are much more tolerant with different kinds of food. Perhaps you could ask Remy from Ratatouille...

But a thought of carnivorous chicken eating rabbit is a bit scary...

I have been so paranoid about healthyfood, once our hammy Napoleone ate a huge chunk of it, Cris's son gave it to him while we weren't looking, he went totally ballistic over it and he got really angry and fought for his piece when we tried to take it away from his hand. Nothing happened and he strived on, a bit grumpy because he was not gettting any more healthyfood, but then after a while I read an article about even a tiny amount of choccie would kill a hamster

. I felt so lucky Napoleone was so robust, but decided not to take any chances with healthyfood with my furbabies any more.
I bet he would love white choccie just as I do but he already eats way too many junkfood so I guess it is better not to introduce him yet another....

Rossi like choccie she doesn't eat any other human food but if I have choccie she jumps on me and praticlly has her nose in my mouth until she gets a bit (and I do mean a very small bit

... she is allowed about a fingernail size piece once a week).

I knew a indoor rabbit who was treated like a human being and extreme amounts of money spent on him in his life time (i mean thousands !!) anyway he slept with the cat and used his litter tray and lay like a baby in your arms as thats how he was carried around, apparently every single morning he'd wait by the fridge door for his slice of chicken and scrape if he had waited too long

Then i had a baby wild rabbit for a week or two who wasnt tame but started to come up if we didnt pay her direct attention, twice the little madam nicked the chicken off my pizza..not mushrooms or sweetcorn or any other vegetarian stuff just the chicken

Larry is like the feline dustbin, he will eat anything and everything and I've lost count of the loaves of bread I've had to throw out

He has his nose into everything, cake, crisps, bread, chips, you name it, he nicks it. I think because his owner pretty much left him and his sis to fend for themselves foodwise and then dumped them, he is just so used to scavenging, it's pretty hard to get him out of the habit

I have to say I don't let Lexy near my choc. only because I know the little moo would have it all.

Because of her weight though I'm a bit stingy with sweet stuff. I know she loves anything with butter or cheese in it, but haven't really offered her much more than the odd Oatabix with my lactofree milk.

If I remember right, the average cat would need to eat something like 8 ounces to do serious harm. I love cho.c covered raisins and so does kylie

- she only has 1 or 2 once in a while so I'm sure that amount is harmless - I'm more concerned about the fat content with her

- I remember reading that cho.c raisins are a lesser evil than a lot of other cho.c sweets anyway

- The choc peanuts have about 4 x the fat due to fat in the peanuts.

It works out that it takes a fair bit of milk chocolate to do serious harm, they can practically eat as much white choccy as they want (obviously they wouldnt get to lol) but cooking choccy and dark choccy takes alot less.

I did have the threshold per mg/kg but its not on my puter anymore so i'd have to look it up again.

I just make sure i am as far away from cody with aftereight sticks as i can be coz the butter nicks them when im not looking

I remember reading that cats don't have a sense for sweet tastes and are indifferent to sweet treats. However Oliver seems to love many of them!! Hobbes also, though he was not as much of a foodie as Oliver, he loved licking a little sweetened whipped cream and ice creams. Recently Oliver discovered Tiramisu, Mont Blanc and German apple crumb cake, and he goes nuts over them and whenever we have them he wouldn't leave us alone until he gets a bit of nibble!! (Funnily enough he detests the smell of pure ground coffee, but once brewed and mixed with something sweet and milky, he is very attracted, and Tiramisu is a fine example!) He also love to hoover after us after we eat some biscuits and there are some crumbs about. We would not dare feed him any choccie and try not to give him too much of sweets as I am sure it won't do him loads of good, but he obviously enjoys them!! I guess he needs a lesson or two from Helen's Riley to eat more veggies, to at least balance things out...
