I have never seen or heard foxes around here but yes that could be the case.

Funny cos we live in country and there was more wildlife in London!!

there maybe another cat in the area that I havent seen and have noticed Misa ands Sasa looking at the wall when they are going out but Misa I am certain would run for his life if he saw Jess and I have seen Sasa hiding before cos Jess was between her and the cat flap.

I feel that they know something happened though.

Thank god for that, it's horrible to think of them lying injured somewhere  :'(  I hope they do get her in and checked over, she could be in shock as well as being injured bless her.

So glad ginger jess turned up. Just hope that they take it to the vet now. Would it be possible that it had a fight with a fox.

I phoned up my neighbour the mother of the cat owner and I am pleased to say that ginger Jess has returned home and was told it is indoors now but she doesnt know how it is.

I hope that they will take it to a vets to at least have it checked out but somehow I doubt it..............it would have to be one who could deal with semi -ferals and I could recommend mine, although I cant see him being able to get ginger draping over his arm like Sasa, but then again maybe.

What I do know is that they would not drive to the Gower like I do and it would be more like one of the local vets which are large animal vets and not good with cats.

I hope ginger is Ok cos like you SR i do not like to think of an injured cat not getting help and am just so relieved it is indoors cos its gone very cool here and last two years we have had snow in November.

Well that vicious Ginger has got a taste of his own medicine. I have every sympathy for it and I'd hate to see it in any Pain like the rest of you. It sounds very much like it messed with either another ginger (im sure there mental :innocent:) or got attacked by a fox. I would have said badger due to its injuries but a badger would probably have killed it(sorry to sound harsh but it would).

What gets me is that the owner should have gone straight to the vets with it, wa*kers!

It isn't unusual for only her fur to be around - Tom got into my neighbours once, and there was soo much fur, but none of it was his (advantage of all 3 cats being different colours) - and no injuries.

Everything that was described to me was of a very sick cat, I didnt see her but know what she is like normally and she is a hissing spitting clawing biting fireball.

When she was found after the attack she was hiding under a wall next door and apparently she looked in a very bad way. They had problems getting her home cos she was so scared.

I have never seen so much fur on my path and apparently it was the same next door.

I dont have the car tomorrow cos it needs a new part so will try and find out if she is back but I have a very bad feeling about this one.

The only good thing is that she knows where my cat flap is and that there is food, thats assuming my softies were not to blame!

I wonder if it could have been another animal rather than a cat that did the damage and I do find it strange that there was only her fur around.

I have to say I dont understand some people, but if she is used to going out,it could be that her reaction was due to being kept in, rather than any wounds, especially if they had checked her over - Ginger always wanted to go out as soon as he came home from a dental, despite his eyes still looking slightly glazed from the anaesthetic, and the one and only time I had to keep him in (after a lump removal and dental), he started acting depressed after a day or so, didn't want to eat, tried to avoid the tray and constantly sat in front of the door, so it could be that was wrong with her, although the fact she is now missing isn't good. And I have come across owners that are worse than this, at least they did check her over, sounds like they did try and keep her in, and have contacted people to let them know she is missing - I always go to the neighbours first, esp if one of mine has been out overnight, as they are up before me, and will sometimes take them in their house.

I do hope that she is alright. Its amazing that they are not out looking for her. I cannot understand why some people with cats do not get a catflap. You do not have to put them in a door, we have ours in the wall. This has been a big problem with Scruffys and Parkis owners not having a flap and shuting them out. >:(

I cant understand why the family arent out in their wellies searching the field, they are all home from work and school and its still light. Nooooo it was easier to ring me this morning and tell me she is missing and ask if I have seen her!

I do hope she is all right cos despite being vicious she did not look her age and she is very nice looking.

Afraid thats the attitude round here, they have a cat and then shut it out while they are out and at night, I have sorta gathered it didnt spend much time in the house and they dont have a catflap....................it would never occur to them to get one of course  >:( >:(

Oh yes and of course after the fight they wanted to blame it on my 4 softies who run away if they seee her through the window!

I cannot believe it what idiots, it really makes you wonder about some people. Unfortunatly it does not sound very good and I don't understand why they did not take her to the vet, whats wrong with them. It will be very difficult to find her in the fields, I just hope that she turns up soon.

Poor Jess. So much for the new Animal Welfare Bill. People shouldn't have animals unless they can provide proper care, medical & otherwise.
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Well it makes my blood boil.  I hope your feelings are wrong, Gill, and that Jess will be OK after all but she sounds to be badly hurt.

It is just tragic that so many people decide to have pets without bothering to learn all about their care and their needs, and/or sense of proper commitment.  And this, of course, leads to the over population of rescue homes and shelters.  I wish something can be done to determine if the prospective owners are qualified to adopt a pet before they do so... :(

You're right Gill, they do not deserve to have cats at all  :(

I hope that Jess is OK, what idiots to let her out again, knowing full well that there was something wrong with her.

Keeping everything crossed that she's ok.

Sorry this is rant but am so angry.

Some of you may have read about vicious ginger from up my road and who was involved in a cat fight on sat/sun night.

I just had a phone call from my neighbour who is the mother of the cat owner, to ask if I had seen Jess......vicious ginger.

We do not know who was the other cat involved and mine have no signs of being in a fight but Jess came off very much the worse and there were litterally handfuls of ginger fur on my path and next door and they found her huddled up under a wall and very scared and with loads of fur missing.

They took her home and said they were gonna keep her in from now on at night cos she is 16 yrs old.

However she was in for a day and wasnt moving, all huddled up, they said they had checked for wounds but couldnt find any and she wanted to go out, so they bloomin let her out cos they were going to work and now she is missing. For 24 hrs I think.

I told my neighbour that as soon as she stopped moving around like normal they should have taken her to a vet cos its likely she was bitten although they didnt find the puncture wounds, not let her out.

I said they should put up some posters but suspect they wont and her owners are the only ones who can get near her cos she is truely semi feral and will attack you.

Apart from asking neighbours to look out for her and there are not many of us, its most likely she has gone out into the field at the back which is a also a bog to anything with weight and has hidden. Last night there were some noisy fireworks and it was also very cold so do not have much hope for her and they do not deseve to have a cat for that long when they just let her out cos they are going to work when they know she was in such a bad fight and was in a bad way.
