We have now put the hoover in front of the spare room so there will be no more escapes when we are out  (they are afraid of the dreaded hoover!)

I am torn between thinking its cute that Doc wanted a friend, and that he just wanted to get in to eat Lucas's leftover breakfast  :evillaugh: when we let Lucas out - they are all really unsure - they don't challenge him, just watch from afar and he just plods around until me or Phil sit down and then he snuggles on our laps  :wow:

He really is a beautiful cat - I say to him "I love you Lucas you know" and he says purr purr purr purr purr  :Luv2:
We keep saying "Lucas!" to him to try and teach him his name but I am not sure if he doesn't know it yet, or if he does and chooses not to listen

Aww, he's a sweet looking lad. :) I'd love to know how they manage to do some of the things they do. I put the lock on my cat flap one night, only to find the next morning that my lot had managed to knock the flap until the magnetic strip popped off so they could come and go as they pleased again! Cheeky bunch. :Luv:

We locked Billy Whiz and my beautiful Aslan RIP in the spare room for a few days when they 1st arrived in Spring 2006. My lovely kimono (pressie from OH's brother from a visit to Japan) was hanging on the back of the door. The boys tried to climb it to get out and wripped it to shreds  :(.

I remember when my cats locked me out of the Dining room  >:(  One of them had managed to push the door to which is always left open for them all to come in and out when they want, I must have spent over an hour trying to get in and had to cancel a vet appointment as well  :sneaky:  I remember I had 2 booked in for spaying and they were caged in the lounge but I couldn't get to them because the little horrors had pulled up all the carpet and underlay behind the door  :censored:

Maybe Doc wanted to make friends with the gorgeous Lucas  :Luv:  :Luv:  He sounds as if he's settled in a treat Dawn and I'm so pleased there's no agressiveness from him, I think in his situation before, the naughtiness with him came from lack of food and trying to survive.

How long have you had him? WAs he around other cats at the other Dawns?

Dawn's had him a few weeks now, I didn't have him mixing with mine as I'd only had him a few days before Dawn offered to foster him.

Aw bless Lucas, he just fancied a change of scenery lol!

In our old house, Max managed to pull the carpet up next to the front door, and it was totally wedged, couldn't get in at all ..... I had to phone my dad to get a really long screwdriver to get under the door and try and pull the carpet back down again   Took about 20 minutes to get into the house, by which time all my frozen food had defrosted and turned to mush

Well Teresa with all the knowledge said to keep pushing cos gradually the carpet would lift and hopefully not tear cos I had a heavy bookcase holding records, you know the vinyal LPS lol, about 200 of em. Luckily it was only one level and eventually I got enough room to get a foot in to push it, which then gave enough room to move door open more as carpet lifted.
All the time of course i had a pair of birmans trying to esacape!

It took a long time to get the space big enough for me to squeeze through and then I put every thing back and something over the carpet under the door and thought I was safe from being locked out again!

But no Franta managed to repeat his escapade and I had to repeat my breakin and entering cos trouble was I am double glazed at the front and the bay only has a stupid little window at the top, and of course even if it had been big enough it was locked.

Then I put the hardboard down had to listen to him scratching it.

I have no idea what I would have done if I hadnt managed to get in and T was trying to calm me down cos was in a real panic. It was just luck really that I managed to move the shelf and get in but I reckon the only other way would have been to try and cut the carpet and destroy it.

I am afraid the birmans havent changed since they arrived and are still troublemakers and they look like butter wouldnt melt in their mouths, the monsters.

They plot and plan and yell and howl if they dont get their own way and currently Franta is terrorizing Misa and Sasa and he tries to stop me doing anything unless he is on my lap, he follows me around and I cant even hide in the greenhouse cos he comes out to check if I am in there!

Ducha rushes onto my bed when i get into it and will sleep on top of my head cos he knows that makes me move, when I turn over he rushes around to be on the side I am facing and he has just started to push me with his head about 0630 every morning, not for him to get up you understand, but to get me out of bed so he can have it all!!

I wondered if I should do the same now Des, this is new territory for me!
:shy: he was very supervised for the hour tonight, I was afraid they would plot a 3 cat attack if left to their own devices  :evillaugh:

Gill    how did you manage to get back in? I accidentally closed Cheese in the bathroom a few weeks ago (she follows you in and then hides!) and she dug up the carpet too - it is a push-to-get-in door so I had to try really hard to get it open after that! If it didnt budge I dont really know what we would have done

Tom managed to do that to my carpet - he was something like the 14th cat in that room, and the first one to manage it, then the next cats did the same, so I had to get carpet tacks to put it back down (although have since just got rid of the carpet)

I love the story and have a similiar one that Teresa will remember well  ;D

When I was trying to introduce the birmans to the big cats, they were shut in the front room at night and they hated it and used to howl and wail at tops of voices but Franta dug up the carpet on his side of the door and I couldnt get in at all!

Teresa helped me to sort it out and in the end had to put a piece of hardboard under the door to stop him...............I could shut them in the bedroom and no problem but not in front room. My carpet still wont fit back right

Bless him - I do let my fosters have some time out of their room after a couple of weeks, especially if there is a chance they will be here long term. All supervised though, and they only get a few hours out to see how they are with mine.

Lucas' escape!

I thought I would tell you a little story about what happened today....

Doc keeps trying to get in to see Lucas (our Foster puddy who lives in the spare room) and keeps butting the door trying to open it. We have wedged a door stop under the door to the room and also try to distract Doc away from it.

Today, Phil came home from work to an annoying letter from the council (long story) and decided to ring them up - he said he sat there for at least 10 minutes in our living room whilst on hold and absent mindedly looking at the letter before looking over to the fire, looking back and doing a double take as Lucas was sat in front of it with a really nonchalant look on his face

He went to the door of Lucas' room and the carpet was all dug up and also the door stop pulled out - so Doc had obviously tunneled him out of there!  :evillaugh:

He wasn't a bit bothered - he is back in the room now but we did let him stay out and sit on our laps for a bit - he completely ignored our three - Cheese gave him a hiss and wandered off, Gerti and Doc watched from afar before going back for a snooze so I didn't see the harm in him being out for a wee bit.

Anyway - just thought his little adventure might amuse, especially for his friends on here  ;D
