Thats interesting Lynn, can you explain more about the glucose thing? My Taz has had all tests and stuff for his bladder but they havent run bloods, hes 1 year old and doesnt hold his weight very well at all.

Smudge, sorry to hear Gizmo has another prob on top of everything else, keep up your good work!

aw poor gizzy but atleast we have an explanation as to why there is blood in his urine.  also hun if he has high blood glucose then he probably had in his urine too i'd have thought and this glucose in the bladder encourages bladder problems as it creates a better enviroment which might explain why things are so bad in that department.

any word on when they expect further results back that they sent away ?

for gods sake  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Just another complication of Gizmo the vets just called as they did his urine analysis he has extremely bad crystals in his bladder :( :( :( they said the slide showed an extraordinary amount of pure crystal formation... I have to go and collect antibiotics diet food anti inflamatori es and pain killers.......... for between 4 - 6 weeks

This has no bearing on the liver results that hopefully may come back Friday..............my poor little man

I have to leave now as they will be ready in 30 Min's

thanks all

I'm sending all my positive vibes your way for Gizmo, poor little man sounds like he's having a rough time at the moment.

Hope the vets can tell you something today from the wee samples you've collected.

We're all sending you virtual cuddles, and headbutts for the furries of course  ;)

I took the sample down this morning as I forgot it was Wednesday and they dont open until 8am  :censored: I'm waiting for them to call. They are going to hate me soon as I telephoned at 9 and asked why they hadn't telephoned yet...............they are apparently running the sample and I have to wait for the vet to look at the results  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I feel so exhausted today mentally and physically.will let you know when they call... I WISH THEY WOULD BLOODY HURRY UP  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

SP keep that sample in the fridge and take it to them in the morniing, sometimes cats will use an empty clean litter tray to pee in (as cody did the other day  :evillaugh:) so perhaps you could try that and if you get another one then great but if not that one will probably still be useful.

Thankyou all

I telephoned the out of hours  (useless as ever) they said "oh well they are running tests so wait until the morning" thanks a bunch for all your advice  :censored: :censored:

The vets gave me some litter that doesn't absorb urine and a pot and syringe..........will they still be able to test it in the morning as it will be 12 hours old. They only gave me one lot of everything and didn't say wait until the morning to do it......................I hope they haven't made a boob after the poor little mans done it  :censored:

Hubby arrived home safe but sad to see Gizzy he didn't do his usual "miaow miaow miaow OH DADDYS HOME which upset hubby a lot as he has a special place in his heart for Gizzy.

The others couldn't wait to greet him and the girls were so excited as they hadn't seen him after the day they had their operations..................I hate to mention they have all had head kisses and the dogs too........I got missed out  :'( :'( :'( but he is home and thats all that matters. I wish it was that easy to sort Gizzy

Oh what a worry this is

Thankyou all again
i have said a milion times you are all so lovely

Your vets might not do night surgery, but by law they have to provide one, so if you ring their normal number, there should be an answerphone with the number on it. I would keep a very close eye on him, but it could be a one off with the stress of today - but they will have staff that can advise you better. If you can collect a wee between now and morning, it would be better than the one you have, it should be no more than 4 hours old. Good luck, and fingers crossed it is nothing.

I think its going to be a long night :(

Gizzy has just done wee but it seems to be mostly blood. My vet doesn't have a night surgery anymore and they dint open until 7.30am. Now I'm really worried  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
Its in the fridge and I will be on their doorstep with it the minute they open...my poor little boy

I dint think I said last night that he attacked me and meant it and he did it again tonight he bit my face and stuck his claws in my head. He has never ever done it before as he has a beautiful temperament.....Thats how I know he is feeling awful  :'( :'( :'( :'( :( :(

Roll on results

Oh Smudge, I don't know what to say.  I think Lynn is right, you are chosen to look after all the little ones that need extra special care because you are such a great Mum.  Gizmo has every chance of getting through this with you on his case, keeping everything crossed for the results that are coming next week

Hear hear to that, Smudge

Hi all

today has to be have been the longest day for me in history...........took my little prince to the vet at 7.30am he yelled all the way.
Anxiously signed all the consent forms and had a very tearful journey home after leaving him.....

Had phoned several times I must have driven them mad but they are very good and certainly don't ever moan.....

Test results all his liver levels are sky high and so is his glucose unfortunately all the tests that were done today have to be sent away, some should be back by the end of the week others on Tuesday because its  :censored: blank holiday

They telephoned to say he hadn't been able to get a urine sample as he went just before I put him in the carrier at 6.30am  typical. I decided at 7pm he was coming home with the special cat litter as I could not bare to leave him all night as he is such a stressful cat and also they had heard an irregular gallop listening to his heart  :'(  so he is better off at home with Mummy although he hates the dog cage with a passion at least we can hug through the bars

So really after him being in all day I'm none the wiser apart from they said about the levels. They cant treat him for anything or give me a diagnosis until the results. (I will have no hair by then)

As soon as I know anything I will let you all know

Thanyou all for your kindness love from me and Gizzy

Fingers crossed for him - I have had a cat with Cholangiohepatitis, and I know when I was reading up on it that cats can recover from that, I just had one that didn't tolerate teh treatment. FAB did a good fact sheet on liver probs, but you are prob best off waiting to see what the results tomorrow show. Dont feel bad about not making htem do the tests sooner, I did that with PEbbles, and it doesn't do any good, you have to focus on what the prob is now, and dealing with it, not what it might have been earlier. Am going to pm you.

« Reply #1 on: April 30, 2007, 21:12:11 PM »
Just to update you regarding Gizmo's................the vet has just called after taking bloods etc and he has a liver a liver problem  :'( :'( :'(  they said that it points to hepatitis the reading etc but they need to have him in for further investigations ALL DAY TOMORROW  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

He is the worst out of my nine going to the vets and really, really does stress badly...........I cant believe this is happening to us  my poor little man is going to be so scared

Can anyone tell me the consequences are if he has hepatitis. He did show similar signs back in January but recovered after a couple days and they said it was a virus..........maybe it was the beginning of it then but he got better .........so I never needed to take him back. I wish now I had made them just do loads of tests  :( :( :( :( :( :(

He is one of the two I have left from the litter of 4 as I lost Pickles and Smudge from cardiomyopathy.

Why me, when all I do is love them unconditionally they are all my life  :'(

Daisy and Elle are fine the redness is just irritation from the stitches and they said they are doing well especially Elle after all that surgery

Please send my little boy some positive vibes for tomorrow

xxxxxx
