The RSPCA told a recent caller to "let nature take it's course and leave her" when she found a pregnant stray!!!! Poppy is now in our care and gave birth 4 days after coming into care  :tired:

I have heard about people being told the same thing about strays - also pregnant ones. One woman told me a cat had a litter of young kittens living outside and was told by them that cats are resourceful  :tired:
DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

That's my local paper - not best impressed with the RSPCA on it.  They did get someone out after the cat had been up the tree for 48 hours but the owner had got it down by then.  I wouldn't want to leave one of mine stuck up a tree for 2 days before getting it down, I'd have set fire to something first to get the fire brigade out!

The local fire brigade aren't allowed to go out without a call first from the RSPCA apparently - I asked them.

Not the first bad experience I've had of RSPCA in this area, sadly, despite there being a big RSPCA centre nearby.

When Millie was stuck on roof I rang RSPCA at about 1am then again 4am and was told just go back to bed (oh yeh) as "in our experience they usually come down when hungry" (which thankfully she did at about 7am).  However the chap did say that, esp as she was a kitten, they would do something if she was still stuck after 24 hours or so.  Looks like that was balderdash  >:(

Three cheers for tree surgeons  :yayyy: :yayyy: :yayyy:
