I would try a different litter in the second tray, something finer. I find with wood pellets a thin layer is better as you scoop daily so most of it gets thrown, this way theres a good change over of pellets, nothing smelly left behind.

Can try putting another tray there - is it ok to put them next to each other?

I used wood pellets from Morrison's or PAH but again this is what they've always had.  She did it agan last night, I caught her doing it - the little madam!!  She did watch me put it into the tray.......Will try another tray and see if that helps

Can you add a second tray without a hood? Sometimes cats decide they like a change! What litter do you use?

We have 6 cats since January and no probs until about 6 weeks back and peeing started on duvets, in front room and peeing and pooing in bathroom. I have 4 of them in the frame for it so far. Quite a job keeping on top of it and has been time consuming and expensive trying the various methods of sorting this behavioural prob.  Feliway spray, plug in, urine off, zylkene capsules et al   None of our trays are hooded so alert to any poo quickly and it's scooped in double quick time.  Just wanted you to know you're not alone   Fingers crossed that Jet goes back to using tray quickly.

If anything Jet is the more dominant of the pair - they're sisters who are now just over 3yrs old - we've had them since they were 8 weeks old.  Its not as if she's missing - she's going round the back of the cover tray and doing it there.  She's then pawing at the piece of carpet as if to cover it up....she's watching my scoop it back into the tray so hopefully she'll get out the habit.  As I say she's going in the tray for a wee and she doesnt do it in the wrong place all the time.  I've spray the area with Dettol and will clean the carpet completely tomorrow to get rid of any odour.  I'll see if any pattern develops - it may just be at the end of the week when the tray is due to be changed.  Also meant to say they both have access to outside and will also go out there to do the business too.

Cats - who'd have them   :innocent:

In the meantime, have you tried parazone toilet wipes for the floor?

Alice does it by accident sometimes and it either goes on the floor which is wood thankfully or 1/2 in, 1/2 out. If I see her in the tray ready to drop, I say "In a bit" and she always obliges  :evillaugh:

Anyway, I pick up the worst with a tissue then wipe the floor/edge of tray with the toilet wipes - it takes no time and they can be flushed  :)

As for dealing with the habit, if you keep putting the poo in the tray, hopefully Jet will get the message.

PS - the wipes are 1/2 price in Sainbury's right now  ;) (I have about 20 packs  :evillaugh: )

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

Would you say that Cruz is dominant over Jet? It may now be an age thing and hopefully an extra tray should solve your prob!  ;)

Hi all - sorry I haven't been on here for like ever but work and life have been soooo hectic.

Jet has recently started pooing outside of the little tray - but is still happy to use it for a wee.  Its also not everytime either which makes it even harder to work out.  The tray is hooded and under the stairs so nice an quiet.  The tray sits on a piece of carpet so I'll clean that properly tomorrow.  Cruz uses the tray no problem.  They've always shared a tray since they were kittens and this has only started in the last few weeks.

Thanks all
