Yes, i'm a sucker for a sad story. 10 months old & already on his second home after his original owners couldn't afford the operation when he was struck by a car.
He is heavy on his feet but it doesn't stop him climbing, jumping, chasing my other cat (another sob story, lol) & generally just being a hooligan. I fell in love with him as soon as i saw him on the CC rehoming pages.

Ahhh bless I didn't realise he was a "special needs" baby

If he's only a 3 legged baby it's best to keep on eye on his weight ... if he gets tubby it will put extra strain on his other leg and this can cause knee and hip problems.

Mmmm the vet nurse did say he had a bit filling out to do but he's a healthy weight. Maybe it's cos he's missing a leg that's been taken off at the hip that makes me think he looks skinny.

Usually between 8 and 9 months old they are fully groan .... of course they still continue to grow outwards as my little fat lump Foxy can testify!

This is another thing i've been meaning to ask, at what age do cats stop developing from kittens into cats & stop growing? Alfie still looks like a kitten.

When i spoke to the vets nurse this morning she knew what i was talking about with the chattering.

I also asked about getting him weighed & she said just to pop him in whenever.....they don't have a specific clinic but they're happy to do it anytime.

Most vets hold a weight clinic with one of the nurses so you should be able to get what you need through that

4 of my lot chatter at birds on the fence, they line up together sometimes for the dawn chorus

Our Squeaky used to do that when he saw birds in the garden, I once read that it is when they are imitating what they would with the prey. I haven't had any other cats do this and it baffled me at first, very comical though.

I'm cancelling the appointment, although i'm worried he's a bit skinny & was going to check that too but someone on the CC forum told me some vets hold free weigh in clinics so i'll see if my vets do such a thing first. Don't worry you'll still be getting loads of daft questions from me. I haven't been put off asking. I'd rather look silly than have a poorly cat.

have to admit the first time i heard my cat behave like that i thought it was having a fit!!

Rushed it off to the vet and he was nowhere near as kind

Never feel a question is too silly to ask .... the wonderful thing about this forum is that we never mock or snigger when a member asks a question ... as Mrs R says we are all learning all the time and and we would rather be asked the same "silly" question a 1000 times than someone not ask something a kitty suffer as a result

I think he already thinks 'mcnuggets with wings' judging by the teeth chattering reaction. The parents will be under strict instructions to keep the window shut when he's around just incase he try's flying for himself.

He's going to love my parents house when i go on holiday. They live in a first floor flat with a bird table fixed to the wall right outside a window so they can reach outside & feed the birds from the window.

I've just done a bit of an experiment with Alfie. There was a black bird hopping around the back garden so i've popped him down in front of the patio doors again. As soon as he spotted it, bingo, the teeth chattering started. It's still freaky to watch tho. Lol

I did want the vet to check his weight to cos he seems a little skinny. I might just leave it tho. I thought he was having a fit or something. None of my other cats have done this before. Lol. How stupid do i feel.

If he was looking at a wood pigeon at the time, there's no doubt what he was doing is perfectly natural and wonderfully entertaining too

aw i think hes fine! my taz chatters his teeth all the time when he sees something outside the window!! i wouldnt worry about it!

but easier sed than done so if you are worried about it,for your peace of mind you can take him to the vet,but i honestly think its fine! hes just being a cat!

He's fine, and this is totally normal

All three of mine do it when they have spotted something to "hunt"!!!!

Ive always found it quiet funny, as our eldest Co-co is such a big cat, you would think he would "meek" MANLY! But no...... he sqeeks like a mouse!

Ah, he was looking out the window at a wood pigeon on the fence. Would that cause his teeth to chatter though? He's just wolfed a load of dried food down & is now playing with my other cat so i don't think it's anything serious.
Is it worth getting him checked out with the vet then or am i being overprotective?

yeh ,my taz does that when hes at the window and he sees a pidgeon or something!!

i find it hilarious to be honest! he chatters his teeth and makes a slight "meeping" niose!

That's normally the little chirrup they make when they have seen something to get excited about, such as a birdy or a mouse.

Well this could be am interesting one for you. Does anyone know why in the last hour or so my cat has lost his meow & when he goes to meow his teeth chatter together? Like humans do when cold. Apart from that he's as bright as a button & eating ok. I've booked him into the vets on thurs but just wondered if anyone has come across this?
