I've had a couple of kittens in in the past who have been wobbly on their legs and brain damaged.  Shelby I still have but did improve drastically to how she was when I first got her in.  The vet thinks with her she had some meningitus type bug which has left her brain damaged, also other instances are if a kitten has a liver shunt, I had one last year, he kept going wobbly but he was having seizures as well.  He did have a shunt but sadly before he had the results back, I had to have him put to sleep.  Another I've got in at the moment although an adult cat has an inner ear infection.  She was admitted to the vets for a few days and is still quite wobbly and falls over, it could be a number of things and you won't know until he/she's been seen by a vet.  A lot of illnesses have similar symptoms but can be totally unrelated, also it could be a birth defect, possibly trauma at birth.  I would get her checked by a vet and take it from there.  Good luck and keep us posted, xxx

Thanks for taking the time to reply sorry to hear that you lost a fur baby x  I am going to go and see him and take it from there will have to let you all know how it goes!

Thanks again

Sarah

Thanks every one for your answers its a great help.  I will have a look at the links posted so thanks.  I think the best thing for me to do is go and see him later and see the symptoms myself.  I will let you all know how I get on!

Thanks again for some great help

LOL yes

Sazkat you could maybe do abit more finding out then make a decision whether or not to take it any further.  It definitely sounds like some sort of rescue assistance may be necessary (if they are re-homing instead of keeping one so vulnerable) However i wouldn't rush and bring her into the family pet home unless you have an area you can keep her in quarantine until such time anything contagious can be ruled out.

Teresa is in hospital at the moment, so won't be able to reply, but if you mean Minimopsical CCMacey, if you type her name in the search at the top of the page Sazcat, there are several threads connected to her condition that would give you some history of her symptons etc.

Teresa has a cat with the same symptoms as you describe, I cannot recall the correct term for it at the moment, these cats can have happy lives, she should be along soon  :)

Without a proper medical examination, possibly a series of tests & of course background history if possible it would be impossible to advise on a forum.  The kitten could have been born with a defect, suffered some sort of trauma or indeed may have some possible infectious disease/virus that may lead to same or similar symptoms.

Thanks for your quick reply just as I thought really without it seeing a vet I don't think I should bring it home!

Thanks

sarah

Hi all I am a vounteer at a cat rescue and whilst looking on the internet this mornig I have seen an advert for a kitten.  The problem is that it keeps fallin over and is wobbly on it legs.  My first thought is that it is brain damaged.  I just wondered if any one else had any thoughts on this?  My main concern is that it is not any kind of contagious virus/disese as I would be bringing it home and have another cat.  I would obviously be taking it straight to a vet to have it checked out but just need some advice?  Thanks in advance
