Well, if it does they've got no sense of humour! Sorry, this is a pet hate of mine - political correctness. My dad has recently retired from the police force, but while he was still working, he had to go to a "PC" training day. This consisted of telling the officers they weren't allowed to say blackboard, white board, black tea, black coffee, wjite tea, white coffee......you name it! Absolutely ridiculous!

I'm sure you're not racist, CC!  ;D

No Gill I'm not racist in any way. I was just meaning the people who claim to be victimized by racism are being racist themselves. As someone said it might offend people.

Sorry CC dont understand your post and its relevance to this thread.

There are to my knowledge no racists here and anyone with those kinda tendancies will not be able to say Purrs before they are booted off Purrs.

You know what I don't get?...... In this country there are black churches, black community centres and so on.

These places are obviously created to keep white people out. So who is it really being racist??

Until I joined CC I had no idea there was such racism in cat ownership.  Guess that explains why, when I phoned my local CP to say I was looking for a kitten, I was told 'I'm afraid we've only got black ones'.  Not exactly a good 'sales' pitch was it?  Still, it was over 14 years ago so things might have improved and as you can see from the pic (which I've just managed to load  :yayyy:) it didn't deter me.
Keep up the good work

Hopefully he will be fine with it. It's not as if he would lose money from it being used, in fact, the opposite. I know he is hated by the Kazakhstanians   :evillaugh: so he could do with some positive publicity  ;D

Thank you kindly,

Actually I'm not that happy with it, I think that it could be better but I was a bit pushed for time with my regular work, visits to the? nursing home and attending to the needs of my cat "family" :)

It would be nice if a charity eg. CP or whatever were to add their support to the Sacha Baron Cohen thing and then it might look a bit more official, just an idea. In a past life I worked as a freelance photographer and still have all my studio lighting gear etc., any services provided by me , if requested, would be F.O.C of course.

Cheers

Hi ela,

Yes you most certainly can , that's what it is for, to help find homes for un-wanted black cats who get a raw deal.

We are also trying to approach SBC's agent to make sure that it is okay to use the catchphrase etc.as this is a sensible legal precaution? and I'm hoping that we might even get him to agree to a photoshoot holding a black cat in which case it'd make for a great poster. This is only a plan but I do have some experience of dealing with artists through my work and also in marketing. As we discussed in the original CC posting my experiences show that artists are generally very helpfull providing one makes it clear that it is a non-profit making, for charity and that they reserve the right to proof read/listen to the content before publication. With Borat out SBC is much in demand right now and this is extra publicity.

Cheers

Thanks kittybabe,

If it helps in even the smallest way to find homes for black cats then it's worth it.

We're hoping the we might contact Sacha Barron Cohen (Ali G) and see if he might be able to help us, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Cheers
