Hills i/d cans: anyone else having sticky nosh problems?

You'd think Hills would understand that cats don't eat prescription food for no reason (with the exception of Boopy who has a tin of i/d from time to time because it's her favourite food in the world) and so they shouldn't mess around with it as then cats are going to start refusing to eat it which could cause all sorts of problems.

the sticky ones I'm battling with are May 2009. Hope they've sorted it out then - they were under pressure from at least 1 online retailer to do it! Do you buy online or from your vet? I have to get more of it next week and am hoping it's less tile grouty. Is July 09 ok? Hills had one lot from 04/09 that was great but the final tray of 04/09 I used was glue too. 

The tin of i/d I used the other day was April 09 and was ok. The a/d I've got is July 09 but think I might open one later to see if it's all the Hills varieties that are suffering sticky issues  I bought the tray of a/d from VetUK when they had the free postage but the i/d I've been buying a few tins at a time from the vets. Need to buy some a few more tins of i/d soon as have run out so will try to avoid May 09!

I didn't find the tin of i/d I used yesterday was sticky but it might not be one from a new batch I guess. Are the current batches of all of the Hills wet foods sticky? Hoping not! Just bought a tray of Hills tins (exp July 2009) and I won't be impressed if they are sticky when I come to use them soon.

Lily's on the z/d and I'm having the same[sticky]  problem - I thought that it was how the stuff was meant to be...apparently not

which one Ela? with the i/d, I'm finding mixing with tepid water is helping it go down. And blending the RC Renal, adding a bit of water too - at their age they don't 'do' chunks

I don't want them exclusively on renal diets either as it upsets their tum and am not convinced it has enough nutrients to be entirely balanced.

If my vet had advised the diet then I would be satisfied that he new better then me about the balanced diet. However, I will say that of a cat will eat it any way I would be very lucky, as very rarely do I find a cat that will eat it at all.

Update: online retailers have told me that there have been multiple complaints so it's not just me (as certain vet peeps seem to think....lol). Lots of cats have gone off the latest batches as they are too sticky. Hills are apparently shipping food over much faster than before and it hasn't had time to settle.

My 2 boys have been getting Breakfast no 1 (early morning) of 1/6 - 1/4 can Hills i/d for some time now. They enjoyed it and were doing ok on it. However the latest batches (expiry dates May or June 2009) are really sticky and they are either struggling to eat it, or I have to squash it on the plate, then break it up into teeny pieces with a knife and then sometimes add a teeny bit of warm water so that they can eat it.  It's lots stickier than it's ever been before. I've tried the 80g cans (they used to have a different consistency than the big ones) but this time it's all the same.
Has anyone else who feeds their cats i/d got the same problem and found any way around it?  I don't want to switch to RC Sensitivity diet as it's over 1g in phosphorus whereas Hills i/d is high enough at 80mg.
I don't want them exclusively on renal diets either as it upsets their tum and am not convinced it has enough nutrients to be entirely balanced.
