Thanks. I will try the one end open technique. Managed to catch another of the smaller kittens earlier tonight.  :cheer:

I normally just leave the perspex end off and the door end closed.  This way they can get used to going in and out without being trapped so you can lull them into a false sense of security, when they are not expecting it, set the trap up so the door will close when entered  ;)

Depends on the type of trap but to leave open you keep the swing door shut and take the clear perspex out the other, this way they can feed and gain confidence  ;)

Other option is to securely tie the door up, one end open is normally enough to trick them  :evillaugh:

but I've just left it open to get the little one used to going in and out without feeling threatened.

How do you set up a trap so that its not set and that both ends are open? I've just tried to do this with one I've set up in my verandah (lean to really) after seeing a cat who looks suspiciously like one of the older kittens in there.

I thought I'd leave the trap unset in there, but can't 'unset' the end which falls down when cat goes in. Is it poss to somehow leave both ends open?

Hope you've had great time at the show.

Cant you take the mum away? Then the little monkey might get to the trap if mum not around?  Or she is too young to be left aloane  :(

You think in weather like this they will have some sense, last night i put the trap not set with food inside for MR TRAMP just to get use to it, three hours later still under the car and wouldnt get near the trap, finally left hungry?? :-:

Armed with another hot roast chicken and a fish from the chippy I spent a couple of hours up there last night and sadly she still wasn't interested  :tired:  I peeped round the corner at her and she was jumping round like a blue  :censored: fly and chasing mum round the garden,  the little tike  ;)  She is in really good nick and I'm not overly concerned, it's just such a shame for the mum cat and with the weather getting colder and colder, I just want them caught  :shy:

I've been after a little tortie the last few weeks and she's been a little tinker  :sneaky:  Her mum is also a tortie and can be picked up, she is soooo gorgeous  :Luv:  The baby is determined she won't go in the trap and I've spent numerous hours trying to get her  :tired:  I feel awful for Puss Cat as she's been called, she so wants to be indoors in the warmth but although the people are lovely and feed her regularly, they have a grumpy Persian boy who just isn't happy sharing his "mum and dad" with the frequent visitors  :-:  Everytime they open their back door, she is there waiting and tries to sneak past to get in the kitchen, my heart breaks everytime I witness her attempt.  Sadly until I get her little horror, I can't do anything to help.  Last week I had a break from trying to get her as I've only got 3 traps and with having numerous other kitties to sort, my time has been short  :tired:  I took the trap over again last night, and I went over earlier but I've just left it open to get the little one used to going in and out without feeling threatened.  Tomorrow I will over there in the morning and I'm going to make a determined effort to get her, the weather is getting worse now and I really need to try and get her.  Fingers crossed tomorrow will be the day  :tired:
