I've set my mobile to remind me to test our smoke detector each Tues before 9am.

my parents, to avoid forgetting and feeling guilty put one in every room in our house- 2 in the hall. the probability of all of them failing is as near to impossible as you can figure- that way you dont have to test them just set an alarm to change the batterys yearly  ;D

But Gill, who would wake you up?  You gotta look after yourself coz someone's gotta feed them and you have drawn Freddie's picture yet. The main point is to wake you up before smoke inhalation harms you not the fire. I don't think the noise it makes when the battery is dying is as loud as when it is detecting smoke. Ours is really piercing.  Fire brigade will come out and do it I think. Mmmm lovely firemen

Just tell me you'll think about putting a battery in it, whether you intend to or not or I'll worry.

Why not...............well its too high to reach and I didnt put it there so cant read the mini writing upside down. When I had been here a few months i heard this noise and couldnt figure out what it was or where it was coming from......turned out to be the fire alarm and apparently it starts bleeepin when battery is dying.

If thats all it does its useless to me cos I cant hear it and I dont smoke and to be honest I diont see the point of it. All furries could get out through the flap but no doors or windows left open so thats the only way out for them anyway.

unless it was ear shattering like the work ones were, I just wont be able to hear it from anywhere in the house, just like I cant hear the phone!

Jasmine liked it, and Belle and Tigger both love it too. Daisy doesn't seem bothered, it's only Meeko that's scared, but he's a timid cat anyway, he's scared of the tail tickler and the hoover.

Poor Freddie....mines still not got battery in......sigh

Why not Gill?  Not much use without a battery. Just think what could happen to the fiercesome foursome..

It isn't nice to see Freddie scared as he's normally such a naughty chap.

Watching a paper bag with something bouncing inside it would probably frighten all 3 of ours. Maybe not Tom as he's seen it all and loves carrier bags

You know the toy that's like a paper bag, you turn it on and it's like something's bouncing round inside it?

Aww, poor Freddie.

I took the thing in a bag out for the kittens today cos I hadn't tried it with them before. Meeko was absolutely terried, was like Freddie and quaked under the table.

  :rofl:poor Frankie!  We had a doberman years ago who, when small used to be able to wriggle under the sofa.  Trouble was he used to try to do it when ull grown.  We were forever having to haul him out.

Wait till you get a cooker extractor hood like mine that makes a sound like a jump jet taking off, I've never seen three cats dissapear under the bed so fast except Frankie (large posterior cat), as he gets stuck when he tries to hide under the bed and has to find an alternative hiding place !  ;D I thought that if a cat could get its whiskers through a gap then the rest of the cat would go through but Frankie is "pare shaped" and this doesn't apply to him as he found out the first time he tried to scuttle under the bed :)

Cheers

Leigh

I think it must be the pitch that hursts their hearing.  Our shih tzu used to growl the minute we did anything with ours.

I've set my mobile to remind me to test our smoke detector each Tues before 9am. It lasts a millisecond but Freddie now hates it so much, he runs into lounge and quakes under coffee table when he sees me reach my arm up to test it. Didn't have the heart to do it this morning so you know whose fault it is if the house goes up in smoke.  Will just have to try and remember to test when he's out but my memory is terrible hence setting mobile!
