Hobbes says he thinks these are great but he really doesn't need them cos he can climb on top of doors, cupboards, wardobes, curtain rails etc etc all on his own thanks

I don't think my landlord would be too chuffed, either Susanne. I think he's pretty nice to let me have my pets in the first place, so I think "cat platforms" everywhere might be pushing my luck! ;)

I think the trick will be to make sure they are strong enough to withstand a couple of cats standing on one at a time, and also that the covering is tough enough to withstand scratching.  When I think of what Mosi has done to some of his cheap scratching posts - I wouldn't want to be replacing the carpet on these things every 5 minutes!

My claudius didn't need all sorts of special shelves to be able to do that. He just hung off the top of the door. Gave the cleaning lady fits when he landed on her shoulder. Took a lot of bribes to keep her = she was excellent...

I've seen them before too - I think they'd be brilliant in the right sort of home. (I think they'd look pretty naff in my little terrace, though.)

I don't care what my home looks like - so long as the furbs are happy!  ;D  It's already full of cat toys, cardboard boxes etc

I think they're great for indoor cats and flats where there's not a lot of space.  Allows them to use the space vertically more.  I can imagine being dive bombed by a cat with a sense of humour!

Fixing things to plaster walls is far easier and secure than to plasterboard  ;D

I wonder if floating shelves would do ? cover them in carpet - way hey.. off Leo goes !

I think they would be a bit risky as they simply slot over the brackets and are not fixed directly to the wall. The ones in the pix appear to be normal (if reasonalbly thick) bracket-mounted ones which are screwed through from underneath for extra security. What a great toy!! But possibly put a cramp on your dating options methinks. First suck them in and only then do you reveal the full range of concern for kitty  :evillaugh:

Think I would be freaked out if I walked into a house and cats were running up the walls using special planks

Whatever happened to old fashioned cheek like climb on back of sofa, climb curtains ponce on curtain rail, scratch walls on way down, job done

Defo thinks you could make these yourselves (or the OH could ;)) you can buy those shelves with the brackets on already, like the ones that fit over radiators  :wow: bit of cord carpeting an electric staple gun and "hey presto"  :wow:

Now just for the space on the walls ie. no piccies up  :-:

Oh those look like fun.

Of course, a 2x4 cut, covered in carpet and put up with brackets on a wall will do the same.

Not that I’ve figured out how to put up shelves with plaster walls….

(in the US most homes use drywall, which I think is the same as plasterboard)

Yes, you could make them.  But I'm hopeless at even basic DIY so I couldn't!  They look pretty well made too.  I love the idea of having them all over my flat!  Mosi would have the time of his life.
