my 1st cat show wi luna is the 25th august , i cant wait still ant got all show kit
i got white tray which i am sure is too small  :tired: and now cant get anouther one in white
white bowls
have to get white vet bed
do i need owt eles whitty

i still ant got the show rules from gccf

The litter tray needs to be small else you won't get it in the pen! Mine is about A4 sized and it's ample. You'll need the vet bed or white fleece blanky plus white water and food bowl. But if you forget anything, you should be able to buy the bits on the day.

I suggest you have a dedicated holdall or small roller suitcase for show gear and keep everything in it. Mine has the following things in it:

litter tray
tupperware with litter in it
litter tray scoop
two white blankets (one for pen plus spare)
some white kitchen roll
pack of baby wipes
white hand towel
food bowl
water bowl
two small tupperwares to take wet & dry food
plastic fork
some small cat toys (catnip mouse etc)
clip on fan & spare batteries
grooming kit
few spare carrier bags

I usually bag the items according to use, so the litter tray stuff goes in a black bin liner, then I have the towel, kitchen roll & wipes together for oopsies, another carrier bag with food related items and lastly a bag with grooming kit.

And don't forget a packed lunch for yourself, comfy shoes and Luna's vaccination certificate.

Hope this helps!  ;)

Most of the cats there yesterday had a white blanket and a vetbed on top of that.

Gotta say i might strongly consider getting cody to the nearest show..dundee perhaps and putting him in exhibition..He could knock spots off the permies that were there i'd say, even though he would be in the judging i bet he'd get loads of onlookers.  The only other laperm that was in his catagory was a red longhair neuter, he's lovely but doesnt stand out as much as the codster i'd say.

I've never been to a cat show but always fancied going.

In Thanet recently, a rescue organised a 'catless cat show', where people arrived with pics of their cat, paid an entrance fee and everyone attending voted which cats where best in certain categories - Best Pose, Best Whiskers, Best action shot, etc... The winners got prizes donated by Pets at Home. And the rescue also got to pitch their work and show cats up for adoption. Cool idea...  8)

Thanks Witty  ;D

The show I am thinking about is only an hour from my house so should be a good one to start with  :)

I agree Witty, you wont know until you try  ;)  Its fab that Pearl loves shows.  I have a lovely bengal girl here I am thinking of taking out in September, at least to see whether she likes it or not.  If she is happy then I may continue to show her, who knows  ;D

Cool!  ;D Best tip is to start local and small as it removes a lot of the potential stress factors e.g. travelling and lots of people.

I dont think any cat should be taken out to show who is not happy with the experience, regardless of any owners desire to win some titles and trophies.

Yes, of course - but more often than not, you have to try a few shows to see if your cat takes to them. I'm lucky that Pearl is quite happy to do them - she does suffer from pre-show nerves, but once we're in the car and on our way, she's back to her nosey old self.

Glad you enjoyed yourself Lynn!  ;D We'll get you coming to the Supreme yet!  :evillaugh:

Glad you had a nice time Lynn, I totally agree with the points you make on showing, its down to the individual cat, some will revel in the attention and for others its just too stressful.  I dont think any cat should be taken out to show who is not happy with the experience, regardless of any owners desire to win some titles and trophies.

Cat Show.

Yesterday I travelled to Glasgow and visited my first ever cat show. (spectating only I didnt put Cody through that)

Well i had a fairly nice time, I was pleased to see and meet the cats.  I have now met 3 cornish rex in the flesh, they didnt dissapoint as they were gorgeous.  Lots of Devon rex who i like even more now, there were around 4 devons i'd have loved to catnap.  5 or 6 laperms there which was fab and i have now actually felt the long hairs and connor fell in love with a little girl, he must have a good eye as she won best laperm LOL.

But i have to say whilst out of the whole show there was around 6 cats who were positively revelling in the attention and cleary highly excited enjoying themselves, a good few others who seemed relaxed and indifferent but quite a few hiding under the blankets and some hissy with fear and stress (1 deven even tried to bite my finger)

Also stroked a sphynx for the first time ever and was amazed at how lovely and smooth she felt, even her tail did not feel off putting to stroke..although i thought she looked abit red round the eye area and suspect it was due to cleaning before the show.

So whilst i am not against showing i think the owners should perhaps put a bit more thought into the cats they show...1 laperm there on her first outing, was never in her pen and was having the absolute time of her life lying on her back and flirting with anyone who looked at her..she was overly friendly to everyone but another also on first show stayed at the back and hissed a wee bit so i'd say cats should only be re shown depending on how they handled the first 1 or 2 and not regardelss just coz the owner wants to.

Also it was quite hot so i saw a few cats showing signs of the heats and abit sweaty.

PS  there was a beautiful moggie cat who was the spitting image of Teresas buster just perhaps a wee bit bigger but his eyes even were identical..unfortunately i didnt get a picture though.
