I'm afraid I go for the grab hold of them, pin them to the floor and shove it down the throat technique.  The hard part is catching them!

Here at teh Clan we have a speadsheet so we can refer to how we wormed them the last time as some of my ferals are whats the word suspicious of parents at the best of times

We use the grab and shove technique, the pill popper - no water I was sick of needing another bath after using with water in, we have the hiding technique with American fried chicken, the webbox stick technique the put of load of pills in chicken and ahve a chuck session and see who eats what can prove interesting but it can work

We use Profender on Ace, Blue and Riley as they do not trust us and it takes all our time to corner them - and try not to have to visit the hospital afterwards

We also have the dogs as well Sky is easy and just swallows whatever you put in his mouth Sunny on the other hand is sat on to get them down!!!

We also do let our vets have a go to we like to give them a challange

My two were due their Drontal at the weekend but at the moment the pills are still sat next to my vitamin pills in the kitchen.  :-:
I've given up the concealing in food ploy as it never works. My two always suss it out.

Has anyone had experience of using the little gizmo they use at the vets for giving cats pills?

Aaaw cats and pills

The other week Bonnie haad a boil on her bum squeezed and was given a week's supply of antibiotics to give her.  Never had this privilage with Bonnie so I thought I'd do what I used to do with Smudge and put it in some soft liver pate.  DID NOT work.  But guess what did?  I just put it in her bowl with her food and it was gone :wow:  Easy peasy  ;)

Clever Chilli  :naughty: Stoopid Amber  :naughty:

I've found the boys have become increasingly wise to stealth drontal attacks as the years have gone on. They're probably well overdue for a tablet (they don't hunt though so should be OK) but as it's booster time soon I think I might get the vets to do it!

If I did that sort of thing every time one of my cats needed a pill I would never get them all a wormed, I quite simply open the mouth and put tablets as far back as I am able to do so.  Please bear in mind I have 2 cats on daily medication so let alone when it is worming time with 7 cats.
It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all

I cleverly decided when I did my last flea treatment order, that I'd get 2 drontals and do the kitties worming at the same time rather than doing it at the vets. Got the pills and defrosted some nice chunks of cooked ham to stuff them into (one half at a time). Cats wouldn't even touch the decoy piece of ham that hadn't been anywhere near the pills (was supposed to lull them into a false sense of security!).

So next step, got a piece of the freshly cooked sunday chicken. Fed each cat a bit, then squished a pill half into the middle of one and Amber nearly took my hand off for it, don't think she noticed the pill at all as I did the same with the second half and down it went. Chilli on the other hand sniffed the tainted chicken, nibbled it and then left it on the floor. I figured it must need more concealing so crushed it and mixed it with some chicken and gravy in a bowl and gave it to her. Again she sniffed it and was having none of it. All this time I'm trying to stop Amber climbing up my leg wanting more!

I guess at least thats one less cat I have to get the vet to do!
