Dolce is really sweet and matches her name. She never complains, she is very huggable when she is asleep (and in general) and is quite talkative.
Gabanna is the daredevil!! she is the most active and jumps like a squirrel and bounces off walls. They usually hug each other. They and my BF are a great family.

The cats on the last picture are Gabanna's sisters and brother.. cats are truly angels! I was so grateful yesterday night for them. They have lifted my depression and always make me laugh and go "awwww"

Friends thanks a lot!! My life is HECTIC but at least I am here again!!

DOLCE AND GABANNA LOVE EACH OTHER!!!!

Well at least it seems so, and only in 2/3 weeks! first Dolce hissed and was angry with me... but I followed protocol and kept the little one in a room for some days, then kept Dolce somewhere else while the little one wandered... after some days we let them know each other...

Fast forward Gabanna sleeps ON TOP of Dolce, for Gabanna EVERYTHING is a pillow!! she always sleeps on top of me, or my back, or on my boyfriend, or on top of my pillow or teddy bear or Dolce... LOL its so cute because she looks similar to Dolce, they sleep at the same time in the same position, and they chase each other around all the time.. first I was not sure if they were fighting or playing in a good sense... but these days I wake up and BOTH are next to me. They make me laugh so many times throughout the day, and also when I arrive I play with Dolce first, and have a lot of  cuddling with her alone... once she saw food and water and play is still plenty she is happier... and slowly starting to be herself again, playful, more active and she has lost weight due to all the running.

One question, how much should they eat?? Dolce is about 7/8 months and Gabanna is 2/3 months maximum... I am not sure I am giving them enough or too much.. they always seem hungry !!

Definitely its a good idea to add a second kitty, they clean each other... hopefully if anyone has the doubt, there are shelters so if the kitty does not fit well after some weeks you can return it so it finds a better home. That is what I was offered but fortunately Gabanna rules, sometimes she cries too much but once she adapts and we comfort her... its much better...

Gabanna's attitude made all the difference, she was used to other kittens, small like her and also an older cat, dogs and humans... so when Dolce hissed she played... never got territorial... in fact she never even reacted to Dolce's attacks or anything... she just tried to play with EVERYTHING and with Dolce too, until Dolce could not resist seeing it seemed like fun!!

Now we are 4 and our family is complete. I love my cats. Can't wait to hug them tonight!! Still at work!!

HUGS and thanks !! I will get some pics I promise!!

:Luv: thanks for your quick replies!! I read them to my bf.

Well I just moved from yet another apartment, and Dolce was stressed for... 2 seconds, she is still happy discovering everything and jumping on the boxes, hiding on the 3 closets etc. !! it seems she is adaptable and flexible like her mother (me LOL). But yes I agree it would be too much change at the same time...so I will need to get the kitty sooner yahoo!!  ;D

For the same reason I called someone who rescues pets and she said she has a male of 2 and a half months..who resembles a gray "Toyger"... and my Dolce is like that so they will be like twins!! I hope I get your approval... I asked if there were slightly older cats but there aren't... and my bf is set that he wants a kitty.. that will be "his".

I am talking to Dolce telling her she will have a new playmate, she is rather playful and loving to us, I hope they get along. I'll do everything by the book and talk to both often!!

Do I have to buy a different cage to carry the new cat? I know Dolce LOVES to be in her cage. When I go to the vet she is willing to be caged and walks in it happily...

I am soooooooooo glad I found this site.  :Luv: I live in Mexico so I can't adopt the ones you post!!

 :welcome: to Purrs  ;D

you havent said how old Dolce is and if a few months then best for another roughly the same age,

Think you should move first probably if its innament so Dolce can get used to new home first.

Which ever cat is the top cat will depend on them and nothing you can do to influennce them

Two males or male and female seem to be best combo but I know a few on hear have females together but they tend not to be as docile as neutered males.

Lots of luck with your kittie hunting,,,,,,,,,,,,I have 4 LOL

Hello and  :welcome:.  I don't know how *anyone* can live without a cat!!!!  ;D  I'm sure that that will be quite a common consensus on here!

I had my Robbie for a few days before getting him a companion - he was about 6 months old when I got him and his new friend was a female, Lilly, aged 5 months.  She was always the braver of the two but the least playful.  Robbie was much more dominant than she was and much rougher when playing.

I guess what I am trying to say is it depends on the personality of Dolce.  I was led to believe that male and female are best together but I'm not sure why!  Certainly my two got on fine with each other and could be found grooming each other but energy wise Robbie had so much more energy and she would often retreat to the highest place in the house to get away from him (he isn't much of a jumper so could never get to her!).

Sadly, Lilly has been missing now for nearly 8 months and Robbie has become an only cat and I do miss seeing him playing with a friend.  We have a stray visiting us at the moment who I suspect is older than he is who he quite likes. I think with her only being 6 months old the age of her companion won't be too much of an issue as she will still be quite playful and active - if she was an older kitty then getting a tiny kitten probably wouldn't be the best idea.

Jackspratt has just taken on a kitten to keep her 1 year old company - http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,27985.0.html and http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,28396.0.html

As for the apartment moving, I'm not sure what would be best.  It may be too much for Dolce to cope with - a house move and a new face!

Oh, and before anyone else says so....we will of course need pictures!!!! :)

Adding a second kitty to my family...
« Reply #1 on: October 18, 2009, 22:35:07 PM »
Hi new friends!

I have been with Dolce my cat for 4 months approx. She is about 6 months. How could I live without cats before? I always wanted one and finally I am living my dream !!

Well I have read two cats are healthier and happier than one.

Do you think it would be better to have another female or a male? Both will be sterilized.
I know about introductions so don't worry I will follow protocol....

Is it ok if the new kitty is 3 or 4 months? or would it be better if its younger so Dolce is the "older" one? does it even matter if she is still that young?

Also, i may change to another apartment soon. Do you think it would be better to get the kitty when I move so they both explore it at the same time? or shall I bring the new kitty to my current apartment so Dolce has her territory and makes sure she is the Alpha?

I am reading similar posts but I wanted to introduce myself too... and yes... the new kitty will be named: Gabanna  :)
