We're going to the Vet's tomorrow, although I've just remembered that It's an Easter Bank Holiday, so I'm not sure if the Vet's will be open
When I went in Sis shouted on Mickey and Mowgli and they Both Came running downstairs to Her :Luv:
They are only placed in the Kitchen and Utility room during the night or if she's going out, when She's in they still have the run of the house
She Say's the both of them Sleep all day, and usually 8 o'clock at night start to come to life, and they basically spend the whole night outside
they don't look skittish or show nervousness, Mowgli is just adorable whereas Mickey seem's more solitary, (prefers His own company) in saying
that I'm not there 24/7 Sis Say's Mickey is affectionate as well, they both will come to me and lie belly up in front of my feet :Luv:
apparently the Cattery incident was a year ago, I then told Her again she'd be better joining Purrs herself as she Knows their History better
than Me, She's also been phoning Her Friend who used to be a Veterinary nurse but is now a midwife, Funny enough, Her first advice was to
take them to the Vet's also
will update asap once i have more info

I know they can adapt Liz, Hamish was a Stray that I adopted, and it seemed like for Months He would wake Me at Un-godly hours
Meowing to get out, He destroyed the Carpet in front of the door and to this day you can still see the Millions of Claw Mark's on the
middle door panel where he used to cling to just to look out of the keyhole  :( I felt so Bad for not letting Him out, but eventualy He
stopped doing it, He did go back to doing it for a short time afterwards, but that was my own fault because I moved in with my then GF
who had a very Large safe Garden, away from roads, for three years Both Misty, Hamish and also BK, Marlyn and Monroe terrorised the
neighbourhood, when I split with GF it was Back to my Flat for Hamish and Misty, Misty was no bother, but Hamish took about a Month
to turnround again  :(

If the worst came to the worst, I would probably give it a go again, But for now OH is quite adamant it's not going to happen

Yes Millys Mum, Although My sister has not told Me ( Probably afraid ) but she has told My OH that Mickey and Mowgli are now Basically
confined to the Kitchen and Utility room with access to the outside via catflap, it's Just Till she can get to the bottom of this  >:(
Why doesn't she take them to a Vet FFS  >:( >:(

Ach, I'm away down to give Her a piece of my Mind  >:(

When she first informed me of this Problem, I advised Her to take them straight to the Vet

and Her OH is allergic to cat's, in the past she has dotted on them ( The whole Family have

Your wording suggests they dont do they same for the cats as they did before? Are they restricting house access and love? That would upset them  :(
They definately need a vet check up,if she wants rid it wouldnt hurt you trying them out, if they werent happy you could work at getting them a new home...

Mark, vets visit in order would be my first idea, also being away at the cattery can be very stressful for them and then coming home things smell different and sometimes they spray to make it feel familiar

I would also suggest a a couple of Feliway plug ins as well and some rescue remedy in their water

Stewart outdoor access cats do adapt to indoors only - all our ferals have and don't show interest in going out even Blue who lived 18 months on the outside only and is now inside at our choice but has shown no interest ion trying to escape to go back

If all else fails then Uncle Stewart should go and pick them up and bring them home - :innocent:

I had this for a number of years with Max, Stuart, and it was hell to sort out. The thing is if it's a stress release thing, they start to do it out of habit just to make themselves feel better and it gets so hard to break the habit. Having said that, I agree that a urine infection has to be ruled out. But most of the peeing in the house things are behavioural. Sad to say they tend to respond to (in Max's case) moving house (bit drastic I know). Max loves flats as his weeing came from exposure to other animals  - or even their smells - which he finds too stressful - since he's lived in a flat with no outdoor access, not a single wee and he wee'd all OVER our house...we even had to have some of the plug sockets replaced as he blew the electricity with all his weeing!!!! He started out with little wees and then it became on everything.
The only other treatment unfortunately seems to be with drugs, mostly anti depressants, if the source of stress can't be removed.

He definitely needs checking out by a vet Stu ... if he is weeing on soft things ... like clothes and bedding it may well be an infection rather than "marking" behaviour.
In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods; they have not forgotten this.

Thanks guys, I'll get on the phone to Her a.s.a.p.

No Rosella, She has not been to the Vet's yet >:(

I understand this can be frustrating for Her and I don't know the full In's and outs
Her daughter's clothes have also been weed on in the past too
When she first informed me of this Problem, I advised Her to take them straight to the Vet
(which she still has not done ........ DUH!!) even tho she has had the weeing problem for a while
and Her OH is allergic to cat's, in the past she has dotted on them ( The whole Family have )
but what sadden's me, is that it was Me who advised her to take the both of them, and now
she is talking about getting rid of them without (I Feel) really trying to get to the bottom of the problem  >:(

I cannot take them as My sister has a very Large Garden, and they have been allowed out since they were
old enough to do so, Whereas Mine were indoor cat's because I stay in a Flat next to a busy road
To Keep them indoors would just be so cruel with them being used to the outside :(

Vet visit first.  You say she is thinking of "going back" to the vets so has she already been?

There will be loads of links on here to do with ensuring smell has gone as far as pud is concerned so he doesn't go back to same place but I count on "Urine Off" that I bought over Internet.  I had terrible trouble with Freddie when he 1st arrived and sympathise with your sister. The smell was pungent as he had only just been neutered and it takes a few weeks for hormones to settle down.  A neutered tom's pee shouldn't be that smelly though. That's why I suggest vet visit.  If it is cystitis, I think I'm right in saying it is very painful esp for male cats. "Yellowy syrupy substance" doesn't sound right.

Our Freddie will pee inappropriately on the very odd occasion now when stressed (thankfully on tiles in the kitchen so easy to clean up) but there is no smell.

Vet visit first, neutered tom cats dont tend to have strong smelling wee, and it is unlikely it was the neuter not done properly as if so, he would have always had strong smelling wee. That is how I knew Pebbles had cystitis, she used the tray, but it had a funny smell to it.
Please spay your cat

Awww, lovely cats  :Luv: sometimes stress and if there are other cats outside can cause this, our ferals do do this outside sometimes so it could be another cat.   When you say 'Mickey getting the blame' if mum shows annoyance with him that could stress him further.

Has she tried Feliway Stuart? I bought some for Schui who did that and it really helped but you have to keep using it as it states.  Best of luck with this it can be a nuisance.

Im wondering if Mickey may have a bladder infection?

Strong smelling pee would indicate that, as when they are done the scent is not as noticeable!  ;)

I would advise your sis to take Mickey to the vets for a check, maybe if she could take a sample with her it would save time and hopefully things should get sorted!  :wow:

Hope sis is not using any bleach products to clean with either as that also could be a problem!

Is the tabby one the one she got from a kitten? Was so long ago I forget!

Weeing/Spraying in the House ??
« Reply #1 on: April 12, 2009, 01:17:12 AM »
OK, My Sister is at the end of her tether, both Her boys were neutered, She has had problem's in the past with Mickey weeing in the house
which stopped for a while, But she now think's it is starting again??

Now this is the Bit that annoys Me, I have told Her umpteen times about Purrs as I have with My Mother,
I showed My Mother Purrs ages ago but just discovered yesterday that She has been Looking at Purrs on Her Laptop
which is still logged in through My account, I did register Her her own account yesterday, but it has yet to be activated
( She probably wont post anything anyway, she's just nosey ) I showed My sister Purrs too, but Noooo, it's too hard to register
and ask People with years of Knowledge question's for possible solutions to Her Furkid Problem's
It's a lot easier to phone Her Brother (who has Limited Knowledge) to Moan and Whinge at him for answer's  >:(

Sigh.........OK, Rant over

I think this started over a month and a Half ago when Mickey and Mowgli were put into a Cattery while they went away on holiday.
When they got them back Home, they noticed that Mowgli was reeking of wee, but Mickey was not, they were both kept together
in the same space, Sister think's that Mickey was weeing on Mowgli?? (Mickey is More dominant - Mowgli is Soft) She got a Beanbag
which had been weed on = thrown out, cat Bed weed on = thrown out, cat scratcher with bed weed on = thrown out, two week's
ago there was a very strong smell of wee in the utility room ( where the litter tray is kept ) had to move everything and scrub all surfaces
to get rid of smell, I think it was this week there was an overpowering smell in the kitchen ( Her words " smell was so strong, it was
cutting My throat " same again, every surface scrubbed, during which she said she found a yellowish syrupy substance which absolutely
stank of very strong cat wee, she's now not sure if there is a Tom cat getting into the house and spraying, although the condemned
" Mickey " is also still getting the Blame too, she is giving it another week to see if there are any more episode's, then going back to the
vet's to make sure they are dressed properly ( Do Neutered Cat's still Spray ?? ) She is now talking about getting rid of them  :( >:(

Any advice gratefully received

Mickey

Mowgli on beanbag that was thrown out
