Poor garfield has taken all day to settle down bless him, I think he has sensitive ears and hates too much noise. We will be on the lookout for another needy cat, but I'm going to wait for a bit losing Henry and having to give back Suzie has left me drained.

Aww, bless her - at least you gave her a chance, and it could have been the best thing for her. You aren't a failure, these things are meant to be, and you never know what is round the corner, there might be an even needier cat waiting for you.

I have feliway diffusers and all 3 cats had rescue remedy rubbed into their ears. I was really really concerned as she has not had any water or food for 48 hours and only went for a pee once (which wasn't in her tray).

I spoke with her fosterer about her refusing to drink or eat and we decided it might be for the best for her to go back before she got ill from not drinking. As soon as she got out her cage she went straight to the water bowl and took a massive drink and used her tray. I feel like such a failure for only having her 48 hours as she is such a sweet little thing and I desperately wanted it to work. Her fosterer was really nice about it, she was grateful we at least tried to home her, but like I said I'm still sad it didn't work out.

Not been having much luck with the poor wee mite, she has been crying non-stop now since 3am. I can't get her to eat or drink and she won't use her tray. She will happily sit on your knee for cuddles, even come and find you but the noise doesn't stop. I'd love to keep at it but OH isn't so keen and poor Garfield is showing signs of stress. He had no probelms at all with her at first, even gave her face a quick wash, but he's really unhappy and starting to pull at his belly fur. She is sleeping now so going to grab a little shut eye and re-evaluate with a little sleep.

She sounds lovely in spite of her problems.  And I'm sure he'd be proud of you for giving another cat a home, and especially one that needs extra tlc.

It's soooooo tempting when you have a wedding fund, isn't it.... (I got married at the end of last year) - other people are just no fun where they're concerned   :evillaugh:

She has been a right little madam tonight, been crying quite a lot more than last night but again I can evenutally settle her. An encoruaging sign is that twice she came onto my knee without crying first for attention so we might be OK. Sadly she had a little accident on the couch which isn't like her at all according to what I've heard about her and I can't get her to eat. I'm almost tempted to dip into my wedding fund to pay for a behavourist but my mother and future hubby just might kill me  :naughty:

We aren't sure how old she is, she is classed as an older cat but her teeth look like that of a younger cat. She has been with her fosterer for over a year at least. She was found by a truck driver who picked her up as he thought she had been knocked by a car. She is a tiny tiny thing and has some brain damage, her head is really big for her body. However despite the brain damage label the vet gave her she reliably used her tray and eats ok (just very little). I'm also told she has no sense of danger though and will walk over a hot cooker if not kept in check.

We may have a new addition.

After the loss of my little old man last weekend I contacted the cpl where we got him from as we had 2 months of his forektor left, as they paid for a lot of his vet bills (he got sick 2 weeks into his stay with us meaning his insurance was invalid) we asked if any of their cats was using it. To cut a long story short we found ourselves last night sitting in the home of a fosterer looking at the adorable Suzy. Suzy almost came home with us last year but we had already offered Henry and Charley a home and we thought another would be too much. She has had problems finding a home because at her foster mums house she cries and cries from 6pm til she goes to sleep. We spent about an hour talking about her and why we thought she cried and couldn't help but wonder if she wasn't getting the attention she needed as there was so many other cats about. I found myself saying, why doesn't she stay with us for the night and we can see how she gets on. We decided if we managed to settle her and stop her crying she could stay with us forever.

Introductions were easy, although we still took care, as Charley came from the same fosterer as Suzy so we knew that at least those two got on. I fed them their favourite dinner while she sat in the cage (as long as the terrible two's dinner isn't in jeopardy they don't mind anyone) then took her out and held so they could give her a sniff before going to put her in a separate room. They were actually more interested in the cage she came in than her so while they jumped in and out the box I let her wander about.

She did cry, not as much as I expected and I was able to calm her down just by talking softly and petting her and by the end of the evening she was snuggled up on my knee. No noise at all during the night so it's a case of so far so good! One night has been extended to the whole weekend.

I didn't expect to get another cat so soon after losing my beloved Henry but I'm sure he would be happy we are trying to give another cat a home who otherwise might not find one. Pictures to follow as soon as my sister gives me my camera back!
