Last cat fight we had round here wa about this time last year - you'd have expected to see two bald cats afterwards.  So much fur ......  Both cats I recognise but dont know their owners.  I hope they were OK .... theyd have gone home damp, too,  as a I threw water over them , from the balcony, to stop the fight  :-[

About half an hour afte things had gone quiet, two little bluetits were picking up some of the shed fur and taking it of for nesting ....

hope so - I had a really big entire male used to come into my garden regularly when in NZ. Bob would lead the vanguard with sofie and ralph coming up behind - there were lots of bloodcurdling yowls and at times real dustups - but it kept coming back and back. It used to sit just the other side of the fence to the back garden and drive poor Shadow crazy ... Glad your boy is safe ...

Oh it'd take quite a lot to put Jasper off of his biscuit  ;D

He had lots of cuddles ... including one from his new sister who we are in the process of adopting last Saturday - see photo!

I havent seen any sign of the black cat since the fight ... so hoping he's learnt not to visit again

Poor Jasper.  Hope the other cat is ok but believe me they can become a problem,  I used to have it with one of our neighbour's unneutered Tom's and it is this that really started Charlie's problems.  Keep a water spray handy and squirt it everytime you see it.

It's only been around for the past couple of days so it could be someone new moved in (as we live in a housing estate) and is a new cat trying to sort out it's territory ... it just didnt expect to find one of our cats being so territorial!!!

I cant say I've gone out to the cathouse to smell it, but the cat was certainly in it, I'll probably wash out the cushion that's in it to try and remove the smell of it on that. As for a nasty aroma ... if there is it wouldnt necessarily be the black cat but could be Jasper as he certainly likes to 'mark' his things!!!

I'll have to keep an eye out for it, but I dare say if we did have a trap, we'd probably end up trapping one of ours and not the black cat.

Thanks for the advice about seperating them - however - I was in the pouring rain with snow! trying not to slip over on the wet muddy grass, plus I was 15ms from the kitchen  :evillaugh: In 'normal' weather I would had ran in the kitchen for some water - but think my husband would had got a call saying I was in A&E with a broken leg from slipping on our grass ... welll .... mud!!!  :briggin:

Attached is a photo of Jasper after he came in ... I've never seen him so wet and muddy before - it took a while for me to clean/dry him I tell ya!

Sounds like its either a cat with a bad home hence its taken up in your garden or its a stray. I have another tom using dexter and magoos shed, havnt seen it but i smell it  and also the neighbours 15yr old arthritic cat that should be indoors and not in my shed, they are the type i call a a bad home, they arent directly cruel to an animal but dont provide for it like they should  >:(

Do you have any nasty aroma around the kennel? If you do, trapping and neutering would help improve the fighting side of things.

The best thing for cats fighting is a cup or two of water  ;) dont risk getting bitten yourself

Cat fight!

I've got a days annual leave today - as I thought I'd catch up with the housework, but also spend some time with the new kitten ... however I didnt think I'd be out in the pouring rain trying to split 2 cats up ... and one of them was mine!

We've noticed the past couple of days that a black cat is visiting our back garden and have seen Jasper chase him off before. However, I saw that Jasper was staring into one of the outside houses we got from P@H for them - opened the patio door and heard him yowling (and just knew that a cat was in the house and Jasper clearly didnt like it!)

I nearly got close enough to scruff Jasper to get him out of there, but the black cat legged it, but  Jasper went after him and they literally rolled down the lawn (it does go downhill). The screaming was awful, I tried shouting his name, clapping my hands, but they were just intent on fighting! I had to in the end put my boot inbetween them to split them up - but the black cat legged it again over the fence and Jasper followed.

Thankfully - either Jasper gave up or the black cat legged it and Jasper came home about 10 minutes later. He was a mess, absolutely sodden and caked in mud! I've cleaned him up and done a check, but cannot see any blood or claws hanging off. He's just had a wash and is now snoozing on the fleece on the sofa - but I'm worried about this other black cat a. for how he is after the fight, but also b. if this cat is ok i.e. it could be FIV for all we know (which I know you can say for all cats). The reason I'm concerned about that is because during the blur of the cat fight I did see Jasper appearing to bite him.

I dont know whether we'd be able to get close enough to put on one of these paper collars (as it doenst have a collar) and if it does have a home at least someone might then put one on it. I dont know what else to do - hopefully that fight will put the cat off coming back.
