I use chick crumb and have both open and closed in trays - they seem to use open for wees and closed for the other (just as well the way Bengal poop smells )

I was using an open tray, then i tried shut and now have gone back to open. I have been leaving long whiles in between changing but felt i needed to try new things to see if it made a difference... I am using the last of my catsan and then changing back to sophisticat which seemed the best... I find catsan, the wee was siting at the bottom and not soaking up and it smelled of wee.... the sophisticat seems the best for them...

I have put down an extra tray as well...

We'll see how it goes....
!
Thanks everyone, I will keep you updated

I use Catscan Clumping, its very fine but feels soft on the paws.

We used to use the normal Catscan but changed after the behaviourist recommended it as the normal catscan is quite rough on their paws and it was contributing towards Jess's toilet stress.

Is you tray covered? We have 2 covered and one open, it might be like other people have said that they don't like sharing a tray.

Ah right, Ok, i've got another tray actually - I'll go and fill it and put it down and see if that helps :)  Its just a wierd reaction to have because if they don't like toileting together, I wonder why they do it 95% of the time...

I'll go do it now and see if things get better :)

I only changed the cat litter because I thought this was the problem lol, oout of interest, what cat litter do you use?

Hi KayMarie   :welcome:

I totally agree with Sheryl, also my 2 girls really don't like changing litter (I've only done it twice in 3 years and that was bad enough  :evillaugh: )

They seem a bit confused by the new smells and textures etc and don't like it at all. They have never toileted outside of the trays but they are a lot older than kittens.

If you have got 2 kittens you need at least 2 litter trays - some cats dont like to use the same tray as others.

Toileting situation!

I wonder if people could help me!

My Kittens have been pretty good at toileting from day one. They found their cat little box straight away and have used it but every so often one of them ?(I haven't worked out for deffinate which one yet) keeps pooing just at the side of the box!

I started with wood based cat little, that breaks down when wee'd on etc... and they did it, so I changed it because my mum said it may be because they don't like the feeling on their feet when it breaks down. Then I used the antibacterial grains from pets at home (can't remember the name) and that was decent, but still, the odd poo and now I am using catsan, which I personally don't like because I find the box smells of cat wee... so I am going back to the antibacterial one when I get more (it is light gray grains with the odd blue one, can't for the life of me remember the name) anyway... even with the catsan, they STILL do the odd poo and its infuriating me.

Now, The other day when I was cleaning it out, Pudding ran in and did a poo on the carpet where the box would have been, right in front of me while i was cleaning the box!!! Now I don't know if they are associating this corner with poo and just doing it anywhere in the corner as opposed to associating the box for poo'... they don't seem to be weeing there, just the odd poo....

I just don't know what to do, they also are going outside for the day and they save their poo's for when they get in!!

I would appreciate ANY advice...
