Wow, never heard of that before. They have ceramic ones too so I'll try those for the next while and see if it makes a difference. Thanks, Desley

Wonder if the plastic is irritating, it is one of the biggest causes of feline acne.

Usually plastic ones with 3 compartments for wet food, a metal one for water, and another plastic one for dry food.

Phew, thank God for that! It looks and sounds nasty though, I wonder why the vet never mentioned that. The vet did touch it and it didn't seem to bother either of them though. . . . who knows. I hope theirs disappears like your Tabitha's. Thanks, Milly's Mum :)

Tabitha got one last year, it went pretty quickly, co-insided with her acne.
Spike also got one when his retained baby tooth started to cause problems.

Rodent ulcer? I don't like the sound of that  :scared:
The vet gives them Advocat for fleas and they had a dose a fortnight ago, I don't think they've ever had fleas though, when I went to the vet for worming meds they gave me Advocat cos it prevents fleas. Yeah they do go outside now but these just came up while they were in the house. I woke up with Belle in bed beside me and he was fine, and an hour later his mouth was like that.

Tiggy had a spot/flea bite on her chin once that made the rest of go all shiny but not quite on the scale of Belle's, it took quite a while to heal.  Don't they go outside now?  If they do is it possible they came accross something outside that they've eaten which has burnt their chins like the vet said?

Gorgeous pics by ther way and long overdue  :)

First pic looks like a rodent ulcer to me, often happens when they overgroom say from fleas. Are they uptodate with treatment?

Both Belle and Daisy have swollen bottom lips. We went to the vet yesterday and she didn't seem to know what had happened. She said it looked like a burn but there's nothing I can think of they'd have burnt themselves on. She asked me if there'd been any changes to their environment but there's none. Has anyone seen anything like this before? They both had a steroid injection but the vet seemed a bit clueless. They're fine in every other way.
Belle's is more swollen than Daisy's, although it's gone down a good bit since yesterday. . . .

(I promise I wasn't stranging him, just trying to keep his head at peace for 2 seconds!)

And some new pics, all taken in the last half hour

A nicer one of Belle
