I think he's a head the ball, he's been seen walking round with a machete down his pants etc but he does sort of know me as I used to work with his dad.  She is a little bit unstable but approachable, I've had a few heart to hearts with her in the past trying to convince her to get her act together, she has kids and all have been taken off her.  I think if she got away from him and got herself sorted out, she'd be a "decent" human being but whilst he's on the scene, it's never going to happen.  When I went round the other day and I asked to see the cats just to make sure they weren't up the tub, he was adamant they weren't but wouldn't let me see them, he had a bit of a psycho look about him so he was off his head, I decided to leave it and talk to her instead as she's more my size  :evillaugh:

Wasn't bravery TBH. More me being indignant than someone would dare punch the person I love so much! ;) Was most definitely instinct - my mum say I protect the people and animals I care about like a lioness with her cubs. :shy:

GOsh, you're brave JS. Last time I intervened in a fight I found myself sailing across the ballroom floor on my bum clutching a very sore jaw ...

I do think you should be careful Dawn but not all drug users are violent.  It depends whether or not they are scripted and stable.

Tend to agree. Not necessarily to the scripted, but definitely to the stable!

My partner got confronted a few years ago by a heroin addict who was quite obviously rattling. We were walking into the post office and I'd said something that made my partner laugh. He glanced in this blokes direction, and the guy said "what are you looking at?" My partner ignored him and we went into the post office. That would've been fine but the guy then followed us in and carried on harassing my partner! Eventually, my partner just snapped and said "why don't you sod off and get your fix, you smackhead?" and the guy punched him. Apparantly it was such a terrible punch my partner barely felt it. I then pushed the guy back (noone punchs my bloke!) and the bloke fell over.  :-: Either I'd developed superhuman strength or he was an utter lightweight....I know which one I'm banking on!

In all honesty I think that's the only time I've seen a drug user (recreational or otherwise) act aggressively. Now drunk people..... :scared:

Hope you are successful, and can help the cats in question anyway, Dawn.

If you contact rspca to donate money they will be all over you like flies on  poop  but if you contact them on any animal issues they will not do anythign cos they do not wont to know.

I could contact the inspector but as there's no cruelty involved that I am aware of, what can they do?  They haven't got a cat in hell's chance of gaining access or the door being opened to them, it's a typical druggie's house, broken windows and big metal bar leaning against the front door.  On numerous occasions I've asked our inspectors to follow up certain things and it's been done, I suppose it depends on who you know and not having to go through to the crappy call centre  :tired:

Dawn why dont you report them to the rspca? Then you could offer to take them  :sneaky: The smack heads cats I mean.

I'm not sure if there's anything they could do really as I'm not aware of any cruelty involved and with not seeing the cats, I'm not sure if they are in good/bad nick  :tired:

I've thought about this Mags, believe me I have  :evillaugh:  The only problem being the woman reckons they go out, the guy who was stoned out of his skull when I spoke to him yesterday reckons they only go out with him in tow  :tired:  I don't even know what the cats look like but I will gain access at some point so I can clock what they are, hopefully I will then be able to get something sorted.  The guy is a head the ball, he was involved in a shooting a few years ago so I have to sort of tread carefully  :shify:  I had a lecture off Sean yesterday for going round to druggies houses, he said I should not get involved and just let the RSPCA deal with it but sadly, they're not going to go round just to get them to get their cats spayed   I think he thinks I'm going to get stabbed with a needle or something but sadly doing what I do means dealing with some psycho's so it's a risk anyway  :scared:

Another thought .....last one for today lol

Now!!!!!!  with those types of humans they really wouldn't know when the cats suddenly disssapeard .....as they would be off their stupid  tiny heads they wouldnt know what year  it is  never mind another else ...this woud save a lot of work etc on the person that is left to deal with it/concered with the cats ......& if on the very rare occasion that they  'look' for the cats (which i doubt very much) then whos to say they had them in the first place ....if you get me drift?

If they can fork out money for booze ever day/night then they can well aford the nuerting costs....this they need to be reminded of

True but nine times out of 10 this will not help the cats, the booze will always be priority  :tired:  Regardless of peoples income or what they spend their money on, sometimes it's just easier to get them done and bite your tongue.  I'm still trying to sort out some smackheads cats, been round again today and god knows why it surprised me but they didn't answer the door........again  >:(  >:(  I'm determined to get their females done if it kills me, they can't afford to feed themselves never mind look after 2 pregnant cats, and this is what's going to happen if I don't get to them soon  >:(

Thats what makes situations like this so sad....you know the person has a heart where the cats are concerned, its just getting them to see the importance of spay/neutering! Best of luck hun!

I have no doubt that eventually she will respond.  She did last time.  She just lives in a world of her own and in her own way she does love her cats.  They are well looked after in some ways just not in others.  I will talk to her again and offer all the help I can and hopefully we can resolve it.  It took a bit of persuasion, encouragement and help last time and we thought they had all been done but obviously not.

Most of us in the avenue are animal lovers and none of us blame the cats!  We all blame Jackie and do our best to look out for the cats.  Obviously the main tom gets sprayed a lot but there is nothing I can do about that at present as I have had to stop him stalking Charlie (think this has worked in the main).  the thing that is most worrying is that she now has two unneutered tom's (don't think the black one has completely matured yet) so there will be big time wars if she doesn't get them and the cute little girl done quickly.  Also they are interbreeding which is obviously not good. There is someone who lives on my daughter's road who is with CP and helps people short of funds to get their animals neutered and although Jackie and her husband both work they don't have much money as it all goes on alcohol.  This does make me mad as there are genuinely needy people out there but anything that helps to get the cats done is good.  If I can get her organised, I will give a donation to the CP that this woman works with then at least my conscience is salved.

Will keep you posted

MM glad you got up the nerve to give alcho-woman a visit....and she is away till next week  :shify:  :(

I know a woman just like this and between me and my daughter we have took the little ones on a small trip to the vets and got them done....I know this would be hard to do but between you and the other distraught neighbours couldnt you all help in some way?

I know this has nothing to do with you and the neighbours in that respect....but we all have to remember it dosnt matter how angry etc peeps feel over the owners there are still cats here that just need helping out!  ;)

Have a word with her when she gets back....but if no joy then I would seriously be on a mission! Good Luck!

I feel your pain, Maddiesmum... it is so hard living next door to people like that. I also get so angry at people and their lack of responsibilities and common sense.

What annoys me more is that the cats get blamed - it's not their fault. poor mites.

one of the problems is the cost.

That is a cop out on their part as I'm sure most people know they can get a voucher for part of full payment of neutering. I know Ela has even posted vouchers out of the area. As annoying as it is, the main thing is if they get "done" - it's a shame CP have to use £4million for neutering that could be spent on other things. Especially when these people can always find the money for beer, fags and takeaways.

The "alcohol lady" in our avenue now has two unneutered toms plus am unneutered female!  They are driving everyone in the neighbourhood nuts with their territorial marking (poo everywhere down the back alley and in peoples' gardens, spraying round everyone's gardens etc etc).  After talking with the neighbours tonight most of whom are concerned about the little she cat (she is not a baby but is very tiny) I went to see the woman concerned.  She is away until next Monday but I spoke to her daughter and pointed out that their cats are causing problems for everyone else.  She said the female is due to go in to be neutered but to be honest, despite the fact that the males are mating with her, she looks pregnant already.  She said her and her dad have been on at the woman to get them neutered but she doesn't and one of the problems is the cost.  I didn't point out their recycling bins at the front of the house are piled high with lager cans and empty wine bottles!  I said I would take her to have them done (they have no transport) and maybe see if there was some way we could get vouchers (although this annoys me).  However the cats are inter breeding and the end result will be more unneutered ones.  It makes me so mad that the rest of us are responsible cat owners and she blithely goes about her business without a care in the world whilst we all worry about her cats.  I asked her daughter to speak to her but said I would catch up with her myself when she comes home next week.  I don't even know anymore how many cats she has.
