Mine have annual MOTs but 3 are now in the senior category although two have been since I had them but I do not ask for special tests and am sure if the vet recommends them for a good reason , I will think about it.

I defo think its a good idea.

With Max being FIV+ I do a 'basic' MOT every year, but this year asked to run bloods etc as I thought he'd been drinking a bit more recently.

Good job I did, his bloods were elevated showing early stages of kidney failure, a urine sample backed it up as being too dilute, so we have a change of diet now, with bloods due again next month to see if we need to medicate at all.

Forewarned is forearmed as they say, and if you catch problems early, they're much easier to try and treat.

Its a very good idea.

Even with only 25 % kidney and liver function left, cats will not necessarily show signs of illness.

I do them, I do think it is important, and would rather spend £80 to be told they are perfectly healthy. It also gives you a baseline in case they do become ill. In Molly's case, when she was sick a month after, we at least knew that she was fine when her bloods were done.

I think it's a very good idea.  Things like kidney failure are so much easier to treat if they are picked up in the early stages (ie from a blood test and before the cat is showing any symptoms).

I know RB vets does them from 8+. I asked AH and they said 10+ might be an idea but didn't push it.

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

I think it's an excellent idea, gives you an insight into anything that may need treating or further investigations.  You are not being over protective you are being responsible

Senior cats MOT, do you think its worth it?

I have just booked my Leo into have a senior cat MOT. He is 13yrs old and although is heathly as a horse, i was wondering if a general MOT blood works would not be a bad thing..

Cost around 80 quid. Do you think ii am being an over protective mum, to put him through a few hours of stress and break from routine?

I know that some vets routintely do health checks but my don't really promote the idea of preventative medicine...

BTW his sister goes for 6month checks ups due to her heart condition.

Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....
