Hi Lynn - know just what you mean and exactly how you feel.

For Sooty - RIP

After They Are Gone

When someone we love passes away,
We ache, but we go on;
Our dear departed would want us to heal,
After they are gone.

Grief is a normal way to mend
The anguish and pain in our hearts;
We need time to remember and time to mourn,
Before the recovery starts.

Let's draw together to recuperate,
As we go through this period of sorrow;
Let's help each other, with tender care
To find a brighter tomorrow.

Sooty was my ultimate big black cat

Originally a farm cat where i grew up and latterly moved to a rural town with us and adapted to streets very well.

He was quite famous with surrounding neighbouring farmers for the vast amount of prey he caught normally leaving the smaller ones and going for the big buck rabbits but also moles and lots of other small furries, They all wanted me to give him to them when we left the farm as he'd be an asset to any farmer but no way...my sooty would have been happy anywhere i went so he came with us and turned his hunting skills to my mums canary Ooooops !!

He loved me very much and slept on his sheep skin rug which stayed on my pillow,  He was diagnosed at 9 years old as fiv/felv positive and had to be relunctantly PTS at 11 years of age in Dec 1995.  It still seems like yesterday.

I loved sooty so much who was my salvation during a terrible abusive childhood and i cannot bare to part with his ashes so they are in my wardrobes close by me.

I'll never have another like him

Still love you soots XXX
