Sorry Alex not to have respnded to your earlier comment. In thread title I refer to mainland UK. All my family hail from Ireland, mom from North and Dad from South. I was born in Brum but don't feel at all British as brought up in an Irish community. Don't feel Irish either for that matter. It's all a bit confusing  :Crazy: You'll have to bear with me. I've never been able to remember which one is which between GB and UK that's why I refer to mainland UK.

Back to young un, OH already wanting to discuss which ferry we're going to catch. My auntie better beware  :shify:  :rofl:

Now quarantine....erm let me think...yes he'l require 4 weeks kept inside upon arrival to your abode  ;D ;)

Secondly, cats are free to travel not just between GB and NI, but actually the Republic of Ireland as well (which might be useful to know if taking a ferry from Dublin is an option)

Cheers for that. I'll  let my aunt know for sure that he will have a home here should the need arise. She said it would break her heart to let him go so assume not an issue for time being.

Mmmm 3 black cats + Freddie?  May have to change my user name to blackcat. Whoops will have to try again!

Personally I would not fly a cat unless it was unavoidable. Car might take longer but will be less stressful. Animals are free to travel between Mainland UK and N Ireland so no problems there although if he has any paperwork it's best to carry it.

My mom's 85 year old twin sister looks after MANY cats, mainly feral and lives in N Ireland. People have heard of her and basically dump un neutered cats at her door also. God only knows what's going to happen when she can't cope anymore but will cross that bridge when we have to...

When I visited in the summer she had a black male youngster that I fell for, so has she. She is particularly worried about this little un (now neutered) and asked this morning if I had enquired about bringing him to the UK.

Anyone know whether he would need to be quarantined or vaccinated?  I don't think rabies an issue in Ireland?  If don't know, how would I find out?

Also what is the best form of travel?  Flying as short trip or car as potentially less stressful?
