Pinkbear's 14 year old Tilly has gone missing. She contacted the chipping company and they hadn't changed the address even though she informed them when she moved >:( - This is the second time in 2 weeks I have heard of chipping companies not doing their job properly.
This is the email from Margaret who does our Lost & found
"Tilly is black, with a few white hairs on her chest. She is missing her canine teeth and has an old burn scar on her right leg. Julie has leafleted her road already and the local pet shop. If this cat should come into your care PLEASE contact Cats Protection as soon as possible. She is chipped, but the chip is a London address owing to the company's failure to update the details."

There is still no news of Tilly. We are getting a bit tearful here. She's only lived in this house for about a year and hasn't ventured beyond the garden before. It's not looking good...
I did get a call from someone who found a dead black cat on the road around a half mile from here. I raced to the scene but it wasn't her... then I started crying because I didn't know what to feel. :(
And Jumpy is missing her as he's never been a solo cat before. He keeps looking out of the window. :'(

I can't stress enough how important it is to get as many posters and leaflets out there. Once you think you have put out enough leaflets .... go round again and put more up.

We've leafleted all the houses for 3 blocks around. Posters on almost every lampost in town, in the petshop, supermarket, on our cars... All the vets and rescue centres have been sent details, etc. We've also listed her on all the websites we can think of.
We've also been adviced to wait until very late, middle of the night almost, and go out around the town calling and rattling a box of biscuits - that's if the wind dies down. :sigh:
I just hope she's muscled in to some old dear's house and is being fed salmon and spoiled rotten. :(
She's been missing since around Monday lunchtime, Christine.

Have you knocked on doors and get people to check their sheds? Monday was still quite good weather wise so some people may have been gardening.

No news on Tilly :( One of Julie's neigbours said he had seen her on the wall a few days ago but didn't know she was missing at the time. She got a prank call from some silly teenagers saying they had killed Tilly and she was in the boot of their car >:(. They were rather stupid and didn't block their number. Julie called them back. At first they denied it. Then they said they had thrown Tilly in the river :'( - Julie knew they were lying but still checked the river to be sure. As you can imagine. She is very upset :'(

Tilly is still awol. :'(
We get the odd call from people who say they've seen a black cat in the road next to us. Unfortunately they are 2 resident black cats who we know about, so it's a case of mistaken identity.
This morning a neighbour called round to say she's seen a black cat sitting on her wall HALF AN HOUR before... :brick: Of course, puss had taken off long before we got there. Why didn't she come straight round? :sigh: Even so, the odds are it was one to the pusses from around the corner.
The whole town seems to be on the look out for her. Total strangers stop us to ask for news. If she's here, we'll find her, but it doesn't look good. :sad no:
How do I get through Christmas without wondering if she's okay out there or needs me? :'(

I understand what you mean about people not letting you know immediately cos when Sasa went missin, I was told the next day that my neighbour had seen her and Misa together at the bottom of her garden....................sigh, I posted posters thro all their doors and gave them my number and said do not approach her and ring me.
Another neighbour tired to trap her in his shed!!

I am so sorry to hear that Tilly is still out on her big adventure. I am having the same trouble with people and sightings - they do tend to tell you well after the event that they may have seen your cat and by the time you get to the area there is no cat and you then spend days visiting the area at all hours only to be disappointed. I have not seen my cat since the 16th Sept - I know she is still out there somewhere and I am doing everything I can to get her home. I do not worry about making a nuisance of myself and just keep thinking that this last poster, leaflet in the door or phone call will bring her home.
Do not give up - Everyone on purrs knows how heartbreaking this is and they are all here to support us.
I hope that all our missing tikes keep safe and warm and decide to end their little adventures and come home for Christmas - it would be the best present ever.

On Friday morning, when it was still dark, a small streak of black fur darting across the street up the road, caught my eye. Although I had leafleted the house of the garden it was, I hadn't spoked with the occupant. On returning home that night, I knocked on his door.
The :censored: confirmed a small black cat had taken residence in the nearby garden of a vacant property around 2 months ago. But "you won't be able to get near her. I've tried and she just runs..." :brick: Well, she isn't his cat, is she!! :tired:
I'm happy to report after a short trapping campaign, Tilly was caught at 3am. She was very hungry, a bit scruffy, full of worms but otherwise fine. The whole time she must have been less than 200 yards away but because her escape route had taken her via a door she'd never been through into territory she'd never seen before, she litterally didn't recognise her own front door. Because she'd been so scared, she must have only been coming out in the middle of the night so I hadn't seen her before. :'( :hug:
I'd like to thank my employer, Eastonways, for calling me up an begging me to work overtime that day as I never would have come out the door that early.
Anyway... take heart the rest of you. She was gone for 2 months and I'd accepted I'd never see her again but I found her... And knock on those doors because this neighbour bloke was as thick as :censored: and I've still got a score to settle there. :no no:

We've just returned from the vet. I was a bit concerned about her swollen tummy, but when I thought about it she's eaten 5 bowls of food since arriving home! :evillaugh: The good news is that after a thorough examination, she got a clean bill of health from the vet.
I don't suppose I'll ever understand how she survived - the poor old stick only has 4 teeth left and I usually have to cut her food up. :Luv: I am off to search for a turkey breast now and she missed out on all the Crimbo treats. :sneaky:
But no more Big Adventures for her, and yes, she's under house arrest for a good while to come. ;)

Her tummy has been making all kinds of gurgling noises all afternoon, and the wind..! :sick: But at least her girth has reduced a bit and I think the wormer is getting to work as well. :) She's been sleeping and snoring by the fire, but keeps waking and looking up to everyone to give us her usual little chirrup as if to say 'am I really home?' :naughty:
I was beginning to forget how she kneeds your thighs when she's contented, and her claws grip with pleasure. My legs are covered in dozens of little pin pricks... isn't it wonderful! :evillaugh:
I wish OH hadn't taken the camera to America yesterday, but as soon as he returns I'll get a picture and show you all. OH broke down in tears when called his hotel and told him she was back. He had a special spot for her as she had appointed herself his 'secretary' and would sit for hours watching him work. :Luv:
We managed to get her some turkey breast today, which I'm going to grill for her and serve with turkey gravy. But not until her tummy has gone down a bit more! :evillaugh:
