YES YOU ARE RIGHT SUE, THE WAITING IS AWFUL AND MISAMAN IS OBLIVIOUS TO ALL UNTIL HE HITS THE CARRIER.

HE IS SO PEACEFUL JUST NOW BEHIND THE TV AND I AM SURE HE WONDERS WHY SASA AND LUPIN ARE NOT HERE.

HE IS THE ONLY CAT I HAVE HAD THAT HAS GRIEVED FOR THE OTHERS.

I KNOW LANGFORD WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF HIM BUT AM DREADING THE JOURNEY AND LEAVING HIM BEHIND.

AM DEFINATELY GOING WITH HIM.

COMPLAN TIME SOON AND MUST FIND MY BAG TO PUT BITS IN.

I AM BACK HOME FROM LANGFORD AND FRANCES WENT HOM ABOUT 15 MINS AGO.

TRIP THERE AND BACK WAS GOOD ALTHOUGH WEATHER DISGUSTING.

MISA BEHAVED VERY WELL ON TRIP BUT HE WAS IN AND OUT OF HIS CARRIER WITH ME IN BACK OF CAR SO  DIDNT GET STRESSED.

JUST HAD A CALL FROM ARTSI THE VET AS THEY HAVE COMPLETED AND GOT RESULTS OF FIRST BATCH OF TESTS , THE REST TOMORROW.

HIS T4 LEVEL IS RAGING AND OVER 400 AND MUCH HIGHER THAN WHEN FIRST DIAGNOSED.

HIS KIDNEYS ARE STILL THE WORRY BUT THE TESTS FOR THOSE WILL BE TOMORROW AND SEEMS TO BE THE MAIN TING THAT COULD STOP HIM BEING TREATED BUT SO MANY THINGS HAVE KNOCK ON EFFECTS TO OTHERS.

HIS HEART WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR TFEATMEANT AND THE STRANGE THING IS THAT WITH HIS T4 LEVELS RAGING HE IS NOT HUNGRY.

THEY SAY HE HAS SETTLED IN WELL BUT WASNT ABLE TO SEE IT COS WASNT STRONG ENOUGH TO GO UPSTAIRS AND WE COULDNT EVEN GET TO THE CONSULTING RM THAT THEY WANTED US IN.

I THINK MISA IS GOING TO BE A BIG HIT WITH THE LADIES BUT OBVIOUSLY VERY WARY.

SO TOMORROW THEY WILL RING ME AGAIN IN AFTERNOON AND HAVE EVERY FINGER CROSSED THEY WILL DECIDED HE CAN BE TREATED.

Glad all went well and you got there okay. I wouldn't worry too much with his T4 levels being over 400, when Silvie arrived at Barton Vets for her treatment, hers was over 500!  Hopefully his kidneys will be ok and they can go ahead with the treatment.  The 1st few days away you will miss him like crazy, but then you will accept it and know he is gone for a very good reason, and every day after that is a day nearer for him to coming home :Luv:

I am sure you will catch up on your sleep in the next few days, I was exactly the same, kept waking up thinking "3 days to go, 2 days to go," and so worried about leaving her there, the treatment etc. Silvie is now sitting on the table with me, purring away, she now even has a bit of a double chin, think she needs to go on a bit of a diet :evillaugh: Bet it was definitely worth it  :Luv:

Glad you got there and back safely and You've heard some results from them already.  Misa's poor appetite could actually be a result of hisT4 levels.  I think I  read somewhere when Tiny had HyperT that although high T4 increases appetite, very high levels it can have the opposite effect.  Fingers crossed that the kidneys are OK and  he can have the treatment.

I hope Frances is now home safely and having a well earned meal and a rest.

I hope Frances is now home safely and having a well earned meal and a rest.

Got home from Gill's about 7.30 - two and a half hours on country roads in the dark and drizzle :-:. However, mission accomplished ;D and can't fault the level of care at Langford although, as Gill says, unfortunately no lift access to the first floor cats' area.

Really pleased his first batch of tests went okay and fingers crossed that tomorrow's tests mean that the treatment can go ahead.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SPECIAL PURRS VIBES, LANGFORD HAVE JUST RUNG AND THEY ARE ORDERING THE IODINE FORE TREATMENT NEXT WEEK  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

THEY ARE WAITING FOR THE LAB RESULTS ON URINE TESTS BUT ARTSI DOESNT THINK THERE WILL BE ANY PROBLEM.

SO SHE WILL RING ME EVERYDAY WITH HIS UPDATE UNTIL FRIDAY AND THEN SOME ONE ELSE WILL DO THAT AND NEXT WEEK THE VET IN CHARGE OF THE TREATMENT WILL RING ME.

ARTSI HAS TOLD ME THERE A A FEW OUTCOMES

THE ONE WE WE REALLY WANT IS A COMPLETED CURE

THEN COULD BE A DELAYED CURE

THE OTHER OPTION IS THAT HE MAY NEED ANOTHER VERY SMALL DOSE OF IDODINE IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS.

THEY ARE MEDICATION HIM UP TO NIGHT, OR IS IT TOMORROW NIGHT BECAUSE HIS T4 LEVELS WERE SO HIGH BUT HE IS NOW EATING PURRING, INTERACTING WITH ARTSI AND SHE SAYS HE IS ENJOYING HIS ACCOMODATION.

THEY HAVE ALSO TRIMMED OFF SOME OF HIS TANGLES FROM WHERE HE CANT GROM AND ARE GOING TO TRY A PAIN MAED WITH HIM TO SEE IF THAT HELPS THE DISCOMFORT FROM HIS ARTHRITUS AND I HAVE TOLD HER ANYTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP HIM WILL BE MOST WELCOMED.

SHE SAID HE IS HEAD BUTTING HER HANDS AND IS VERY AFFECTIONATE AND IN HER EXPERIENCE BOY CATS TEND TO BE LIKE THIS, SHE HAS A BOY CAT.

HOW LONG HE WILL STAY ID DEPENDENT ON ME AND FOR HIM TO COME HOME WITH NO HANDLING RESTRICTIONS IT WILL BE A BOUT 4 WEEKS FROM TREATMENT AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT MY HEALTH REALLY HAS TO PICK UP AND TO HAVE HIM IN ISOLATION HERE WOULD NOT BE GOOD.

SO THIS WILL BE DISCUSSED AT A LATER DATE AND PART DEPENDS ON THE AMPOUNT OF IODINE HE NEEDS AND SHE THINKS IT WILL BE QUITE A HIGH DOSEAGE AND HENCE THE LONGER TIME TO BE ISOLATED.

SHE THINKS I SHOULD GET REGULAR UP DATES ALL THRO HIS TREATMENT AND ONCE THRO THE FIRST PHASE HE THEN WILL GO I NTO INTERMEDIATE CARE WHERE IS THINK HE WILL GET MORE HANDLING AND INTERACTION.

SO I WILL HEAR FROM ARTSY AGAIN TOMORROW AND THINK SHE SAID THE OTHER VET WHO TAKES OVER IS CALLED JENNY.

PLEASE KEEEP THOSE PURRS VIBES COMING FOR MISAMAN AND OH MY I AM FEELING JUST A BIT HAPPY RIGHT NOW  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

IF WE CAN GET THE BEST RESULT IT WOULD BE AMAZING AND IF THEY CAN ALSO HELP HIS ARTHRITUS, DOUBLE AMAZING AND HAVE TO SAY THEIR CARE, PATIENCE WITHH ME AND LOVING OF MISA IS SECOND TO NONE SO FAR, JUST CANT FAULT THEM.

ALL RESULTS AND EVERYTHING WILL BE SENT TO GARETH AND THEY WILL KEEP WORKING WITH HIM IN ANY AFTERCARE THAT MISA NEEDS

Ah great news, all sounds really positive now and Misa can have the treatment. I was told Silvie may need another injection if her levels were still high after a while  but when she was tested a month later they were fine. She is due to go back to have one more blood test at my vet to check her thyroid once more, will prob have it done after next payday.  Silvie received a huge amount of radioactive iodine as her levels were sky  high, but the vet there said he had treated cats with a T4 of over a 1000   It sounds like Misa is really settling in okay and they will make a fuss of him. Silvie's vets updated me every day on their own website, where I could ask questions as well and I rang them every few days, and they rang me with updates.  The time flew really after the first week too.  The worst is over now, all that waiting and worrying and now its all systems go, go go! :Luv:

LAST UPDATE WAS FRI AFTERNOON AND THE SAME REALLY, MISA EATING AND DOING WELL. NO UPDATES OVER WEEKEND AND SOMEONE NEW WOULD BE RINGING ON MONDAY.

I THINK HE IS BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE CARE OF THE RADIO TEAM FOR TREATMENT LATER IN WEEK.

TH ONLY THING I AM NOT HAPPY WITH AND AS SHE WOKE ME UP WASNT RREADY TO ASK QUESTIONS BUT INSTAED OF PUTTING HIM ON SOMETHING FOR ARTHRITUS THAT SHE ORIGINALLY TOLD ME, HE HAS BEEN PUT ON METACAM WHICH I AM NOT SURE IS RIGHT FOR HIS KIDNEYS.

GILL DON'T FORGET ........ DO A LIST OF QUESTIONS FOR LANGFORD AND LEAVE IT NEAR PHONE

DIDN'T SUSANNE POST A VERY REASSURING ARTICLE A WHILE AGO ABOUT DANGERS OF METACAM BEING MUCH EXAGGERATED?  ADDED TO WHICH, IF MISA'S KIDNEY RESULTS WERE PARTICULARLY POOR, SURELY THEY WOULDN'T BE GOING AHEAD WITH TREATMENT
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Rosella moggy on January 22, 2017, 10:37:38 AM
ALSO ANOTHER POSITIVE NOTE........ THEY WOULDN'T BE GIVING MISA METACAM UNLESS HE WAS EATING OK.  IF HE'S EATING OK, THAT'S REALLY POSITIVE NEWS THAT HE'S SETTLED  :)
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on January 22, 2017, 14:57:45 PM
THANK YOU ROSELLA ITS GREAT TO HAVE A REASSURING HEAD LISTENING.

NO HIS RESULTS WERE NOT BAD AND YOU ARE RIGHT THEY WOULD NOT BE TREATING HIM IF THEY WERE.

I HAVE TO BELIEVETHAT HE IS EATING BUT MY VETS ALWAYS SAID THE SAME ABOUT NAPOLEON AND HE WASNT  :( :(

HOWEVER THIS IS LANGFORD AND I FEEL I SHOULD TRUST THEM.

AFRAID A HANDSET SITS ON A LITTLE TABLE BESIDE ME AND IS PILED WITH TABLETS AND OTHER THINGS I NEED AND NO ROOM FOR NOTES AND STUFF, JUST HAS ALL THE THINGS I NEED AND SORTA LIKE A LANSLIDE.

CANT GET UP TO ANSWER THE PHONE SO HAS TO BE SITTING BY ME.

THANK YOU DAWN, SOMETIMES IT JUST HELPS TO GET BASED AGAIN.

Gill, please just reassure yourself that Langford is one of the best treatment places in the UK and they know what they are doing. You just have the one precious cat,  but they deal with many. They know what they are doing and will not knowingly endanger Misaman. I understand that you are alone and scared, but he is doing well and is in the best place.

All you have to do is concentrate on yourself so that you are fit and well for your furbabes to come home   , please try not to worry more than you have to as that will impact on your eating.

PROFUSE APOLOGIES OF COURSE FROM A SENIOR NURSE CALLED ZOE.

SHE SAYS MISA IS FINE, EATING WELL..............HMMMMMM I WONDER.........SHE HAS BRUSHED HIME AND STROKED HIM THIS AFTERNOON.

I TOLD I HAD BEEN PROMISED THAT THE VET WOULD RING TO DISCUSS THE PROCEDURE WITH MISA FOR LATER IN THE WEEK AND THE VET IS CALLED SOPHIE AND HAS BEEN DOING PROCEDURES ALL AFTERNOON.

HAVE BEEN TOLD SHE WILL RING ME TOMORROW AFTERNOON.

I ASKED WHY MISA WAS ON METACAM AND NOT WHAT I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD BY ARTSY BUT ZOE COULD ONLY GUESS AND SAID THE VET SOPHIE WOULD TELL ME TOMORROW BUT SHE SUSPECTED IT WAS BECAUSE MISA WAS SO STIFF THAT METACAM WAS THE BEST THING AND ITS THE BEST OF THE TWO EVILS. THEY HAD DONE ALL THE TESTS ON HIS KIDNEYS AND HADTHE RESULTS BUT SOPHIE WOULD EXPLAIN.

SHE SAYS MISA IS GETTING UP THE RAMP INTO HIS QUARTERS

SO AM REALLY NOT A HAPPY BUNNY AT ALL AND FELL ASLEEP THIS AFTERNOON WAKING UP ABOUT 1645 IN A PANIC AND THINK I GOT THIS OVER AND THAT HAD BEEN ILL SINCE NEW YEAR A LOT OVER THE STRESS CONCERNING MISA.

SHE IS UPDATING THE NOTES FOR TIME OF CALL AND NO I DONT WANT A CALL EVERY FEW DAYS I WANT ONE EVERY DAY!

I SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO CALL THEM AND AM NOT AS CALM AS I WAS THIS MORNING  :censored: :censored: :censored:

Gill

You have to trust them and let them continue to monitor Misa and treat as they think best.  They treat many cats in Misa's position.   Of course you're going to be worried.     But - he's in the best place for this kind of treatment.  There are only 10 practices in the UK who can do this kind of work, so give them the opportunity to get on with it, and instead let us take care of the worrying, eh?

Yes, they should, but i guess sometimes when they're busy getting on with the job, they forget we're the ones left behind, wondering what's going on.    :-:  Chin up, treasure.  Chin up.  Misa is going to need you in the best possible health ready for when he and Sasa and Lupin are all back with you again, so you spend your time focusing on that, and not fretting about matters which are out of your hands anyway.

Glad he is eating well sounds like he is doing okay. When Silvie wasn't eating they did tell me and they gave her a pill to kick start her appetite, but that was after the RI jab, the next day.  My vets had a website, a bit like facebook, where they updated me every day and I could go on their and ask questions. Do they not have one? I was on it every day asking questions, just for peace of mind. it was called Vetstoria.

SOPHIE THE VET TREATING MISA AT LANGFORD HAS JUST RUNG  ;D ;D

MISA IS DOING VERY WELL AND MOVING A LOT BETTERNOWHE IS ON METACAM.THEY TRIED THE OTHERDRUG WITHHIM BUT WASONLY A PAINKILLER ANDNOTEFFECTIVE.

SHE SAIDTHAT METACAM IS PAINKILLER AND ALSO ANTIINFLAMMATORY SO WORKS BETTER AND THEYFELT FOR HIS QUALITY OF LIFE THIS WAS THEBETTER OPTION. HEISNOWUSINGTHE LITTER TRAY BETTER ANDTHEYTHINKTHISHAS ALSOMADE A DIFFERENCE.

SHE SAID HIS KIDNEY READINGS ARE NOT THAT BAD BUT HIS URINE STRENGTH COULDINDICATE AN UNDERLYING KIDNEY PROBLEMBUT THEYWONT KNOW UNTILAFTER THE RADIO TREATMENT.

HE WILLBE TREATED EITHER THUROR FRIDAY DEPENDING WHEN THE IODINE ARRIVES AND THEY WILL RING ME TOMORROW AND SOPHIE WILL RING AFTER TREATMENT THEN A NURSE EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS.

IASKED IF HE WOUD HAVE ANY EFFECTS FROM THE INJECTION AND SHE SAYS ITS NOT EXPECTED ALTHOUGH SOME CATS HAVE A SLIGHT ITCHING AROUND THE INJECTION SITE BUT 2% OR UNDER.

WE ALSO DISCUSSED HOW LONG HE WOULD STAY ANDHE WILLSTAY UNTILHE CANRETURN AS A NORMALCAT AGAIN IE RADIO ACTIVE FREE AS I WILLNOT BE ABLETO COPE OTHERWISE ANDSHESAYS YES IT MUST BE WHATISRIGHT FORHIM AND FOR ME.

HE HAS HACKED UP A SMALL FURBALL AND LEFT IT IN HIS BED ANDI WAS SUPRISED TOBE ASKEDIFTHAT HAPPENS HERE BUT YES BEINGA LONGBHAIRED CAT  ;D

SHE SAYS ITS VERY IMPORTANT THAT HE IS EATING AND HE IS.

I FEEL A LOT MORE POSITIVE NOW THAN YESTERDAY AND COUDNT THINKOF ANYMORE QUESTIONS.

SO LOVE TO MISA    , I AM THINKING OF YOU ALL THE TIME AND HOPE YOU GET A COMPLETE CURE AND COME HOME  FIT  AND HEALTHY AND PUTTING ON WEIGHT.

SHE ALSO SAID SOMETHING ELSE AND HAVE FORGOTTEN SINCE LAPPY WOULDNT SWITCH ON AND WANTED THIS TO BE THE RECORD........GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHAT WAS IT.

OH YES MISA WOULD BE SEDATED FOR THE INJECTION SO IT WAS SAFE FOR EVERYBODY AND TO ENSURE HE GOT THE FULL DOSE.

HAVE CLEARED THE SPACE BAR NOW AND SEEMS TO BE WORKING BUT ON/OFF BUTTON STILL STICKING.

wooo very positive now, great news! Silvie was sedated, vets said they have to sedate them to keep them still as they don't want radio active meds flying around the room if the cats jump or struggle :evillaugh:  But she only had a very light sedation as the injection doesnt take long so don't worry about that.  Silvie also didn't eat the day after but after a pill of some kind to kick start her appetite she was munching away.  If Misa has it on Thurs or Fri he will probably be in for at last 3-4 weeks to get rid of all his radio activeness but  that will give you time to get better and plan his welcome home party with the others :Luv:

THANK YOU HEATHER AND YES THATS WHY THE SEDATION. I AGREE IT IS LIKELY TO BE VERY LIGHT BUT PROBABLE MORE THAN WHEN THEY DID THE HEART SCAN COS THEY DIDNT GIVE HIM ENOUGH SO GOT QUITE ROUGH PICS BUT JUST ENOUGH TO TELL HE WAS OK.

I AM SURE IF HE DOESNT EAT THEY WILL FOLLOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH SYLVIE BECAUSE AS FAR AS I CAN TELL HE IS BEING LOOKED AFTER VERY WELL AND THERE ARE STUDENTS ALSO LOOKING AFTER THEM UNDER SUPERVISION.

YES I HOPE I WILL BE TOTALLY BACK TO MY USUALLY SELF BY THE TIME HE COMES HOME AND ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT REUNION WITH ALL 3 BACK TOGETHER..........GIVES ME SOMETHING TO REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO   ;D ;D ;D ;D

Great news, Gill.

Sorry if you've said before but for how long will he be radioactive?  When he comes home will he need to be kept separate for a while or can he be fully integrated straight away?
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on January 25, 2017, 09:58:51 AM
HE SHOULD BE CLEAR OF THE RADIOACTIVITY IN ABOUT 4 WEEKS BUT WILL OBVIOUSLY LEAVE THIS TOO LANGFORDS DISCRETION.  I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AT 2 WEEKS HE WILL BE MOVED INTO AN INTERMEDIATE WARD, SO GUESS HE WILL BE IN LESS ISOLATION FROM STAFF THAN AT FIRST.

LANGFORD HAVE GREAT FACILITIES AND SO WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN WHERE HE IS STAYING PRIOR TO TREATMENT BUT AS I UNDERSTAND HE HAS HIS OWN ACCOMODATION WITH SLEEPING QUARTERS UP A RAMP AND THEN LIVING AREA DOWN AT BOTTOM AND PRESUMABLY LITTER TRAY FOOD AND WATER. IT IS LIKE A CATTERY SET UP RATHER THAN A VETS.  HE GETS ATTENTION EVERYDAY WITH BRUSHING AND STROKES AND THEY SAY HE LOVES HIS ACCOMODATION.

WHEN HE RETURNS HOME HE WILL BE TOTALLY BACK TO NORMAL AND NO SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS NECESSARY SO ABLE TO MIX WITH SASA AND LUPIN.

IF I HAD BEEN ABLE TO COPE WITH HIM ISOLATED AND TO DEAL WITH THE RADIOACTIVE LITTER HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COME HOME AT 2 WEEKS BUT AFRAID THAT REALLY ISNT AN OPTION.

MY GOODNESS IT WILL BE GREAT TO HAVE MY FURRY FAMILY ALL BACK HOME AGAIN AND TO FEEL THEIR FUR AND HEAR THEIR PURRS.

MISA DOING WELL AND HE HAS JUST CLEARED SOME MATTS FROM MISA AND GIVEN HIM A BRUSH AND SAYS MISA SEEMED TO LIKE IT.................WHY CANT PEOPLE READ AND SEE HE IS NOT A GIRL!!!

I ASKED IF THEY KNEW WHEN THE IODINE WAS COMING YET BUT HE CHECKED WITH SOPHIE AND NOT UNTIL IT ARRIVES BUT SHE WILL RING ME.

SO DONT KNOW YET WHAT DAY MISA WILL BE TREATED ON, HOPE TOMORROW BUT COULD BE FRIDAY.

all sounds good still, and he is settled well. Silvie was moved out of the radio active unit after about a week to 10 days then she went into the normal cattery. If you have a smoke alarm at home, make sure your litter tray is not near it, as when Silvie got home she did a poo and it set off our smoke alarm

I DO BUT NOT CONNECTED COS IT USE TO GO OFF EVERY TIME I MADE TOAST. A RIGHT PAIN.

MISA SHOULD NOT BE HOME BEFORE THE RADIO ACTIVITY IS GONE.................PRESUMABLY THEY USE A GEIGER COUNTER OR SOMETHING  :innocent: :innocent:

you should have a smoke alarm that works, maybe put it somewhere where the toast can't set it off? :naughty:

Yes they used a Geiger counter on Silvie, I remember they rang me when I was in Margate for the day as I hoped she could come home the next day but they said her levels were still high so had to be another week.  By the following week they had dropped right back to normal.  I felt like a little kid on Christmas Eve knowing I was going to get her the next day :innocent:

Gill's internet is down, possibly until next week.  Therefore she is unable to contact anybody.
Langford rang this afternoon and Misa has been treated.  They are very happy with him as he had come round and was eating.
Langford will only ring twice a week from now on, so Gill will not hear anymore news until next week.

THE ONLY TIME A CAT NEEDS ANOTHER IS IF IT DOESNT QUITE WORK FULLY AND THEN LANGFORD WOULD RETREAT THEM WITH ABOUT 20% BUT ITS QUITE RARE AND WOULD BE ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER IF I REMEMBER RIGHT.

WHEN I TOLD MY DOC SHE WAS AMAZED AND SAID , SO THEY TREAT CATS TOO!  HAVE TO SAY I DIDNT KNOW THEY TREATED HUMANS LIKE THIS

I would ring them, even if you just speak to a veterinary nurse, it's nice to get an update. Also the vet nurses are the ones dealing with them on a daily basis, so they know more. When Silvie was in there were only a couple of designated vet nurses for the radio active unit and they were both very happy to update me when I rang.  (UNless of course you are speaking to the nurses and not the vets) :Luv:

HAVE HAD TO RING LANGFORD AGAIN COS NOBODY RANG BACK AND DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY THATIHAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EAT BECAUSE OF WAITING FOR A PROMISED CALLBACK.

THIS TIME I WAS READ A MESSAGE ON THE SYSTEM AND FEEL ITS JUST A STANDARD MESSAGE.

I TOLD HTEM I WS NOT HAPPY THAT IHAVENT BEEN ABLE TO TALK TO ANYONE SINCE MISA WAS TREATED AND EXPLAINED YET AGAIN THAT I CANNOT GET TO THE PHONE QUICKLY AND THERE SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH PHONES AT BOTH END WHEN THE MESSAGE WS ATTEMPTED TO BE LEFT.

I WAS EVENTAULLY PUT THRO TO SOMEONE AND HAVE EXPLAINED ALL ABOVE AGAIN AND HAVE BEEN TOLD I WILL BE RUNG ON FRIDAY AND THE PERSON RINGING WILL BE TOLD THAT IF I DO NOT ANSWER TO RING BACK AND SPEAK TO ME.

THE STANDARD MESSAGE IS THAT MISA IS DOING WELL AND THEY ARE VERY HAPPY WITH HIM, I AM SURE THAT THEY ARE NOT TELLING ANY UNTRUTHS BUT I WOULD APPRECIATE TO ACTUALLY SPEAKING TO A PERSON AND TRY TO BREAK THRO THE STANDARD MESSAGE AND GET BETTER INFORMATION.

HE IS EATING A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT FOODS NONE OF WHICH HE WOULD EAT AT HOME AND METACAM IS BEING PUT IN A SHEBA TUNA AND PRAWN WHICH I DONT THINK TESCO SELL. SHE SAYS HE CHOOSES WHAT TO EAT AND GOES STRAIGHT FOR THAT ONE  ;D

HE IS DOING VERY WELL AND WILL MOVE TO THE NEXT UNIT DOWN ON 6 FEB WHERE HE WILL GET A BIT MORE ATTENTION AND THEN THINK TO THE LONG STAY AREA WHICH WILL BE LIKE WHERE HE STARTED.
SUSANNE WILL THEN LOOK AFTER HIM AGAIN. THE STAFF WORK A ROTA SO NOBODY WORKS MORE THAN A WEEK AT A TIME IN THE RADIOACTIVE UNIT.

SHE KNOWS THAT HE WILL STAY UNTIL TOTALLY BACK TO NORMAL AND THEY WILL TEST HIS T4 LEVELS BEFORE HE LEAVES.

HE WILL COME HOME WITH AN INFO PACK AND FRANCES IF YOU ARE READING THIS I WILL PM YOU BUT LANGFORD ARE WILLING TO BE VERY FLEXIBLE  ;D

JUST NOTES FOR MYSELF, HE WILL NOT EAT FELIX AND IS EATING WHISKERS IN JELLY, DIFFERENT VARIETIES AND GOURMET GOLD VARIOUS VARIETIES...........WILL MURDER THE MONSTER COS HAVE BAGS OF THE LATER THAT HE WONT EAT LOL.

SO NOW I HOPE A SENSE OF CALM WILL DESCEND OVER ME BECAUSE THIS WAS A VERY GOOD CONVERSATION AND I REALLY BELIEVE HE IS EATING WELL AND DOING WELL AND HOPE THE TREATMENT IS DOING ITS FULL JOB.

THEY WILL RING AGAIN MON OR TUE AND INSTRUCTION WILL BE TO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE BUT KEEP TRYING SO I CAN GET TO PHONE.

Thats great news, sounds like he is doing well. The vet nurses are def the best ones to speak to as they are the ones looking after the cats in the units, and know more about them. All sounds very much like its going to plan, same as Silvie's stay last year. All very similar. Silvie came home with an information sheet, a catnip mouse, a packet of cat treats and a card saying thank you for letting them look after Silvie and that she had been a very good girl and they will miss her :P  Very nice of them though.

YOU ARE RIGHT SUE AND HOPE TO BE READY TO LOOK AFTER HIM BY THAT TIME!

ANOTHER UPDATE FROM LANGFORD TODAY AND WAS WORRIED COS WASNT EXPECTING ONE AND THEY SAID THEY WOUD RING IF A PROBLEM!  NO PROBLEM.

WAS ANGIE WHO IS A VET AND SAYS HE IS DOING FINE AND EATING WELL. THEY HAVE WEIGHED HIM AND HE IS HOLDING HIS WEIGHT BUT THIS SORTA MAKES ME THINK THEY ARE NOT SURE! IF HE STARTS LOSING WEIGHT THEY WILL TEST T4 LEVEL EARLIER THAN LEAVE IT UNTIL BEFORE HE COMES HOME.

ASKED THEM HOW THEY KNEW ABOUT THERADIATION LEVELS BEFORE COMINGHOME AND THEY DONTTEST UNLESS THEYARE WORRIED DUE TO THE VAST NUMBER OF READING THEY HAVE TAKEN FROM CATS AND THE HISTORICAL DATA SHOWS AT THE POINT THATTHEY ARE PROPER CATS AGAIN.

ALSO ASKED HER WHAT HAPPENS IF HIS T4 LEVELS ARE STILL HIGH AND WAS TOLD THAT SOMETIES THEY CAN TAKE UP TO 6 MONTHS FORTHEM TO DROP FULLY AND THENHE WOULDSTILL BE ON MEDICATION UNTIL THEY DID.

I SAID THAT WHEN HE ARRIVED AT LANGFORD THEYFOUND HIS LEVELS WERE THE HIGHEST EVER , ABOUT 400, AND SHE SAYS HE HAS QUITE A LARGE NODULE ON HIS THYROID WHICH WILL BE WHY, SO IT MUST HAVE GROWN SIGNIFICANTLY FROM OCT BECAUSE GARETH SAID HE COULD ONYJUST ABOUT FEEL IT.

IF WHEN THEY TEST HIS LEVELS BEFORE HE IS DUE TO COME HOME THEY ARE STILL VERY HIGH THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY TREAT HIM AGAIN, WHICH APPARENTLY IS NOT A PROBLEM BUT MEANS HE WASNT GIVEN ENOUGH THE FIRST TIME.

THEY ASKED IF THE COULD CLIP HIS CLAWS AND CUT OUT SOME MORE MATS................YES OF COURSE  ;D

THEY SAY HE IS GETTING UP THE RAMP TO THE HIGHER LEVEL AND STILL ON ETACAM WHICH THEY MIX WITH A BIT OF FOOD AND HE IS EATING IT AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT I NEED IDEAS OF WHAT FOODS HE IS HAVING IT IN FOR WHEN HE COMES HOME. FORGOT TO SAY WE WILL NEED SOME METACAM TO COME HOME WITH HIM.

HARD TRYING TO REMEMBER EVERY THING COS MY DOCTOR JUST RANG!

SO WE DISCUSSED THE RAMP WHICH APPARENTLY IS COVERED WITH RUBBER BUBBLY STUFF SO HE CAN GRIP AND HE IS IN THE LONG STAY WARD NOW. SO I THINK HE IS BACK WHERE HE STARTED.

THEY GAVE HIM THE T4 TABS BEFORE TREATMENT BUT KNOW I CANT DO THAT BUT ARE HAPPY THAT IF HE HAS TO GO BACK ON MEDS FOR A TIME THE THYRONORM WILL BE FINE..............JUST HOPING WE WILL NOT HAVE TO GO THERE!

SO PAULA I MAY NEED ALL THAT BLOOMIN MONS PETIT!

HEADS GONE BLANK NOW AND MY DOC WISHES HIM WELL  ;D ;D

JUST SO STRESSED OUT AGAIN

Peace, Gill, peace.   The main things are Misa is responding well and seems to be making excellent progress.  If Misa needs to be treated again, they will, and ways will be found to ensure he's back with  hem if he needs to be.

Don't rush your fences.   Each day needs to be taken one at a time.  Seven weeks ago, you were worrying Misa wouldn't make it to Langford, yet now look at him

It all sounds fine to me, Silvie lost a bit of weight while she was away, which I expected, as she stuffs herself all day long at home, and there she had 2-3 meals a day. Her thyroid also was quite big too from what i remember and her levels were around 500 when she was there. THey zapped her with a huge dose of RI as it was so high which worked. She is going back to my vets this Friday hopefully to have a blood test done to check her thyroid levels as its now just over 6 months since her last test. Sometimes afterwards their thyroid can drop so they are hypothyroid and need to be on meds till its righted itself again.  But they did check Silvie's levels with some sort of geiger counter, as they read me out her results when they did it. DOn't worry too much they always have to tell you the pros and cons.  :Luv:

 THANKS HEATHER.

I WAS TOLD THHAT MISA WAS GIVEN AN INTERMEDAITE DOSE SO DONT THINK HE WAS ZAPPED AS HIGH AS SYLVIE, MAYBE HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUTHAVE TO LEAVE IT TO THE EXPERTS AND WHATTHEY CONSIDER IS RIGHT.

HOPE THEY GOT IT RIGHT BUT IF IS LEVELS ARE STILL REALLY HIGH HE MAY WELL BE THERE LONGER.

TBH ITS SO COMPLICATED FOR ME NOW BUT  JUST HAVE THIS FEELING  :scared:

YES ALISON, BUT THE FINAL BIT WILL BE THE TESTS BEFORE HE LEAVES AND IF T4 LEVELS STILL VERY HIGH HE WILL HAVE TO BE RETREATED.

I JUST SO HOPE THAT THE TESTS ARE GOOD AND HE DOESNT NEED MEDS STILL WHEN HE COMES HOME.

APPARENTLY SOMETIMES IT TAKES 6 MONTHS FOR THE LEVELS TO TOTALLY DROP.

AKSY HAS FUNG AND MISA DOING WELL AND WANTING LOTS OF AFFECTION AND TOLD HER I THINK THAT MEANS HE IS FEELING MUCH BETTER COS BEFORE HE WENT TO LANGFORD HE REALLY WASNT INTERESTED.

SHE WILL RING AGAIN ON THUR AND THEN NEXT WEEK ANGIE THE VET WHO IS THE EXPERT IN THE RADIO ACTIVE SIDE WILL BE IN CHARGE OF HIS CAR AND WILL RING ME ON TUE.

THE EXPECTED DATE FOR MISAS RETURN IS 27 FEB ASSUMING HIS HYPER T LEVELS HAVE DRPPED CONSIDERABLY, IF NOT THAT COULD MEAN RETREATMENT BUT AKSY SAID THAT ANGIE IS THE EXPERT SO LISTEN TO HER.

AT THAT POINT IF MISA IS COMING HOME THE FOLOOWING WEEK I NEED BLODD TEST RESULTS BY FRIDAY......THEY ALSO TESTING BLOOD PRESSURE.......SO FRANCES KNOWS THAT ALL ARRANGMENTS ARE ON. IF HE WAS RETREATED THEY HAVE TO BE CANCELLED.

ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHETHER HE WILL BE ON THYRONORM AGAIN AND IF SO WHAT DOSAGE AND NEED METACAM TO COME HOME WITH HIM.

WOULD ALSO BE GOOD TO HAVE A LIST OF FOOD HE HAS BEEN EATING AND HAVING THE METACAM IN.

THATS BRILLIANT.............WAS SHE ON MEDS AFTER TREATMENT AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT HER T4 LEVEL WAS WHEN SHE LEFT TREATMENT.........SORRY YOU MAY HAVE TOLD ME THAT BEFORE.

No she didn't have any meds when she came home, and her levels were slightly high from what I can remember, around the 50 mark. When she had a T4 test 3 months later they were around 21.  But considering when she was diagnosed in November 2015 they were around 150, then shot up to over 200,  and after trial and error with her pills went back to normal, and then came off for a week before she went to Barton and they shot up to over 500, it just shows you how unstable the thyroid gland can be.  I had a chat with my vet today as she wasn't busy and she said how pleased she was that Silvie responded well to the RI and in all the cases she has ever referred for the RItreatment, only 1 wasn't successful.

You always have to look on the bright side Gill. ( I do apologise for Monty Python, Always look On The Bright Side Of Life, echoing through my tiny mind.). I know that if you look on the bleak side you won't be disappointed, but at the same time it is always better to be hopeful and positive, IMHO. There is absolutely no reason why Misa doesn't respond well to RI.  :care: :care: :care:

AKSY JUST RANG AND SAME WORDS LOL, MISA DOOING FINE EATING WELL AND USING TRAY , VERY AFFECTIONATE.

ITS UNLIKELY I WILL SEE HER WHEN COLLECTING MISA AND NEXT WEEK SOPHIE ANOTHER VET I HAVE SPOKEN TOO WILL BE LOOKING AFTER MISA AND WILL RING ON TUESDAY.

SEEMS THE MESSAGE HAS GOT THRO ABOUT BLOOD TEST ETC ON THUR BECAUSE AKSY SAYS THAT SOPHIE WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE ME THE RESULTS ON THUR!

I ASKED IF THE FACT THAT MISA IS DOING SO WELL IF THAT WAS A GOOD SIGN THAT THE TREATMENT IS WORKING BUT APPARENTLY NOT, ONLY T4 LEVEL WILL SHOW THAT.

AKSY HAS ALSO SPOKEN TO ANGIE THE VET IN CHARGE OF THE TREATMENT AND SHE SAYS IT IS VERY VERY RARE THAT A CAT NEEDS RETREATING IMMEDIATELY SO ITS MORE OR LESS CERTAIN MISA WILL COME HOME AS SOON AS HE CAN BE COLLECTED, A WEEK ON MON IN OUR CASE.

HAVE TOLD ONLY HITCH TO THIS PLAN IS IF AV OFFER ME AN APPT ON THAT MONDAY BUT SHE HAS CONFIRMED THAT IS NOT PROBLEM AND CAN COLLECT ON TUE.

SO NOW ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR MISAS RETURN AV ALLOWING AND OTHER QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT HE IS HAVING METACAM IN AND EATING, AND NEEDING METACAM TO COME HOME WITH HIM I WILL ASK SOPHIE NEXT WEEK COS SHE IS ALSO VERY GOOD TO TALK WITH. ALSO MUST REMEMBER WHAT DOSE IS HE GETTING.

OH YES OTHER QUESTION IS IF HE HAS TO GO BACK ON MEDS WHAT DOSE.  I REALLY HOPE NOT!

SORRY MY DIARY HERE JUST INCASE I FORGET SOMETHING.

I only enquired once about Trigger's progress when he was undergoing HT treatment, and was told pretty much the same - as I understand it only another condition unassociated with the HT would alter the cat's condition, because once they've had the injection that's it as far as the HT is concerned
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on February 16, 2017, 14:47:41 PM
 NOT QUITE TRUE KAY.

HT AFTER REATMENT HAS THREE POSSIBLE RESULTS AS EXPLAINED FURTHER UP OR DOWN LOL.

HOWEVERIT IS RIGHTTHAT  UNTIL THAT FIRST BLOOD TEST 4 WEEKS LATER THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I WANTED UPDATES OFTEN AND THEY TOLD ME WITHOUT ASKING THEY WOULD RING TWICE A WEEK AFTER TREATMENT, IT WAS EVERY DAY BEFORE, BECAUSE MISA IS SO TERRIFIED OF ALL PEOPLE.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED IS THAT ONCE OUT OF RADIO ACTIVE ISOLATION WITH LIMITTED CONTACT HE HAS BECOME MORE AND MORE AFFECTIONATE AND BEEN PURRING AND WANTING ATTENTION, SO THIS FROM MY POINT OF VIEW IS VERY REASSURING AND POSITIVE.

I NEED THAT REASSURANCE TO HELP ME GET BETTER AND I LOVE MISA SO MUCH I WOULD FIND IT TOO HARD NOT BEING ABLE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE WHO LOOKS AFTER HIM.

HE WILL HAVE BEEN AWAY FROM ME FOR 5 WEEKS SOLID AND WAS AT VET BEFORE EXCEPT A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE HE WENT TO LANGFORD. I BADLY MISS MY BIG BOY AND ALSO THE OTHER 2 WHO HAVE BEEN AWAY A WEEK  LONGER.

Silvie was away for just over 4 weeks, and the day I went to collect her, I had to wait ages as a lady went in to see the vet with a dog just before my appointment and was in there for ages. I wanted to knock on the door and stick my head round and go "Oi! hurry up I want my Silvie back".... It was worth the wait though, she was purring away when she saw me, and looked happy. I wasn't sure what to expect her being radioactive, friends joked that she might have green fur! From what I can remember the vet did say if she needed another dose if her levels were still high, it wouldn't be for another 6 months. But thankfully not needed! Misa sounds so like Silvie, she is a really nervous cat and doesn't like strangers but after a day or so she calmed down and loved everybody there.  So not long to go now till you get him home all being well :Luv: :Luv:

VET SOPHIE RANG AND SAYS MISA IS DOING VERY WELL AND RIGHT NOW RELAXING AND LYING IN HIS DOWNSTAIRS AREA.  HE IS ALSO ENJOYING HIS GROOMING SESSIONS SO SHOULD BE WELL SMART WHEN I SEE HIM.

SHE ONFIRMED THAT BLOOD TEST RESULTS WILL BE KNOWN ON THUR WHEN SHE RINGS AGAIN BUT  SHE THINKS MISA IS ON TRACK TO COME HOME ON MONDAY BUT NEED RESULTS TO BE CERTAIN.

NO HYPER T MEDS WILL BE NEEDED WHEN HE COMES HOME JUST METACAM FOR HIS ARTHRITUS,

ALL OTHER QUESTIONS WE WILL DISCUSS ON THUR.

SADLY CANT GO AND SEE WHERE HE IS STAYING DUE TO ALL OTHER CATS BEING HYPER T AND A BIT SKITTISH SO TRAVEL INTO THAT WARD RESTRICTED. SHE SAID THAT SHE WILL GET SOME ONE TO TAKE A PHOTO OF HIM THERE FOR ME AND THEY WILL SEND IT  ;D ;D

SADLY NOT ONLY AKSY WILL NOT BE THERE NEXT WEEK BUT ALSO SOPHIE SO WILL NOT SEE THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN LOOKING AFTER HIM. ANOTHER ONE OF THE VETS WILL MEET ME AND EXPLAIN THE CONTENTS OF THE LETTER  ABOUT FUTURE BLOOD TESTS AND HIS HT SITUATION NOW, A COPY WILL ALSO GO TO MY VET.

SO AT PRESENT EVERYTHING ON TRACK FOR MON COLLECTION BUT WILL KNOW ABOUT AV AND MISA ON THUR AFTERNOON.

WILL THEN CONTACT FRANCES AND PAULA TO GET ALL SYSTEMS ON GO  ;D ;D ;D

SOPHIE THE VET HAS JUST RUNG.

I JUST CANT BELIEVE THIS BUT ITS THE MOST WONDEFUL NEWS.............THE BLOOD TEST SHOWS MISAS T4 LEVEL AS NORMAL!!!!!!!!

MY GOD THAT IS AMAZING AND AM JUST SO HAPPY. HE WILL HAVE TO BE RETESTED AT VETS IN 8 WEEKS.

HE HAS BEEN A LITTLE BIT SICK THIS MORNING BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BUT THEY HAVE DELAYED HIS BP TEST UNTIL LATER TO GET A TRUE READING, APPARENTLY THIS IS TO DO WITH KIDNEYS, BUT  THE BLOOD  TEST ALSO SHOWS KIDNEYS ARE STABLE.

HE WILL HAVE METACAM TO COME HOME WITH.......DAM FORGOT TO ASK DOSAGE!  FRANCES PLEASE REMIND ME WHEN WE COLLECT HIM, IT MAYBE IN THE LETTER B UT DONT KNOW.

HE IS EATINF FELIX GRAVY SELECTION WITH METACAM IN AND AS NORMAL FOOD AND THEY MASH IT FOR HIM.

THEY HAVENT TAKEN PHOTOS YET BUT WILL AND GIVEN MY EMAIL ADDY SO THEY CAN BE SENT.

SHE SAID HE WENT TO HER WHEN SHE OPENED THE GATE THIS MORNING, FOR AFFECTION AND IS EATING WELL ETC AND SEEMS VERY HAPPY.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MISA COMING HOME ON MONDAY COLLECTION TIME 1100.

I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF OVER THE T4 LEVEL, I AM SO OVER THE MOON, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RESULT  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

WILL CONTACT FRANCES AND PAULA NOW.

So pleased Misaman's results are normal Gill.  It is such a fabulous treatment and I'm sure threads like this will encourage people to really consider this treatment as an option in future.  I know I would now be far more likely to consider it.

THANK YOU ROSELLA  ;D ;D ;D

YES I HOPE THAT IT WILL HELP TO PROMOTE THIS TREATMENT BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN WONDERFUL AND ALSO THE CARE HE HAS RECEIVED AT LANGFORD HAS BEEN AMAZING, ESPECIALLY AS HE WAS A CAT TERRIFIED OF PEOPLE.

IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND A VERY GOOD REASON FOR HAVING GOOD INSURANCE.
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Rosella moggy on February 24, 2017, 13:50:36 PM
TBH Gill I'm not at all sure whether in the long run it is that much more expensive than opting to medicate HyperT.  OK so the pills themselves aren't that expensive esp if you obtain online but the vet consultation charges and regular blood test charges soon mount up esp over a period of years.  Lets say 8 vet consults and blood tests over initial 2 year period at say £100 a throw (and I bet it would be more) plus meds of say £20 per month would equate to approx £1,300 over first two years and you would be hoping for longer than that.  I don't know how much Langford are charging but would £2,000 be about right?

And just think about all the inconvenience of giving meds once or possibly twice a day .....  Yes I think if a cat is otherwise healthy, the Langford option would be my preferred way forward for any of our current lot.  I'd be particularly sad for Ruby I must admit (those sad eyes are a killer  ;) ) but still, even her.
Title: Re: MISA OFF TO LANGFORD - NEWS
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on February 24, 2017, 14:59:33 PM
YES ROSELLA I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT AND MEDS TWICE A DAY EVERY 12 HOURS IS A PAIN EVEN IF YOUR CAT WILL HAVE THEM.

LANGFORD IS ABOUT £2,300 BUT THEY ARE VERY FLEXIBLE AND DONT KNOW EXACT COST BECAUSE MISA WENT FOR ASSESSMENT AND THEN STAYED FOR NEXT WEEK UNTIL IODINE ARRIVED BECAUSE OF STRESS TO MISA ON LONG JOURNEY BUT WE REALLY COULDNT DO ANY WAY. I AM HOPING THEY WILL INCLUDE THIS IN INS CLAIM  ON HEALTH GROUNDS .

HE COULD HAVE BEEN PICKED UP TODAY BUT WE COULDNT MAKE THAT SO IS STAYING UNTIL MONDAY WHICH WILL INVOLVE BOARDING COSTS  WHICH I AM HAPPY TO PAY..

I AM STILL WAITING FOR PHOTOS OF HIM IN HIS ACCOMODATION WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS VERY GOOD.  HE STARTED OFF IN THIS ACCOMODATION I THINK.THE LONG STAY WARD. FOR TREATMENT HE MOVED TO A SPECIAL ISOLATION UNIT AND AFTER  2 WEEKS CAME BACK TO THE LONG STAY WARD.

HE ALSO COULD HAVE COME HOME 2 WEEKS AGO IF I HAD BEEN ABLE TO ISOLATE HIM AND DEAL WITH RADIO ACTIVE LITTER BUT COULDNT. I DONT THINK I COULD HAVE DONE THAT EVEN IF I HAD NOT BEEN ILL.

FOR THE FIRST WEEK THEY RANG ME EVERY DAY AND ONCE HE HAD TREATMENT TWICE A WEEK AND THE FIRST 2 TIMES JUST GOT A STANDARD MESSAGE COS I COULDNT GET TO THE PHONE IN TIME BUT THEN I RANG LANGFORD AND SAID I NEED TO SPEAK TO A PERSON AND GOT A VET WHO ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND IT WAS PUT ON HIS NOTES THAT IF MY PHONE WENT INTO MESSAGE TO RING AGAIN WHICH THEY DID.

I THEN ON WHOLE WASNT GIVEN THE STANDARD WORDS AND CERTAINLY IN LAST 2 WEEKS IT WAS VERY MUCH MISA PURRSONALIZED AND TO HEAR HE WAS SEEKING AFFECTION AND WAS LOVING BEING GROOMED WAS GREAT. THEY ALSO ASKED MY PERMISSION TO CUT OUT HIS MATTS AND TRIM CLAWS AND TO GO ON MEDS FOR HIS ARTHRITUS.

THEY TRIED A STRAIGHT PAINKILLER FIRST BUT THEN MOVED ONTO METACAM BECAUSE THAT IS ALSO AN ANTI-INFLAMATORY SO WORKED BETTER.  AS HIS KIDNEYS ARE NOT 100% BUT ALSO NOT THAT BAD THEY SAID IT WAS BETWEEN DEVIL AND DEEP BLUE SEA, WHICH I KNOW MEANS THAT IT COULD HAVE A LONG TERM EFFECT BUT IF HE CAN MOVE EASIER AND NOT BE IN PAIN THAT HAS TO BE THE WAY FORWARD.

I AM SURE THERE IS A CENTRE IN BIRMINGHAM THAT DOES THIS TREATMENT BUT LANGFORD IS CLOSEST TO ME AND A CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE DUE TO ALSO BEING THE TRAINING  VET HOSPITAL FOR BRISTOL UNIVERSITY.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON I HAVE DEALT WITH HAS BEEN WONDERFUL AND THEY WANT THE PERSON TO BE HAPPY AS WELL AS THE CAT. CATS HAVE THEIR OWN STAFF WHO DO NOT DEAL WITH OTHER ANIMALS SO CATS CANT SMELL DOGS ON THEM FOR EXAMPLE. THE DOG AND CAT WARDS ARE ON DIFFERENT FLOORS TOO I BELIEVE.

AS YOU KNOW RUBY HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY FAV SINCE YOU FIRST GOT HER SOGIVE HER A CUDDLE FROM ME PLEASE  ;D ;D ;D

 WE ARE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FRANCES HAS JUST LEFT TO DRIVE HOME AND SEE HER CATS AND WITHOUT HER HELP I DO NOT KNOW WHERE WE WOULD HAVE BEEN AND ALL MY THANKS GO TO HER.

I HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE WHERE MISA IS!!

I CANT SEE HIM IN THE STUDY AND HE IS NOT IN HERE, HE HAS BEEN BANNED FROM THE KITCHEN FOR NEST 2 DQYS ON INSTRUCTION FROM LANGFORD AND HE MUST NOT BE AROUND FOOD PREPARATION AND LIRE HAVING TO BE DOBLED BAGGED USING RUBBER GLOVES GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

BUT BY THE TIME THE OTHER 2 COME HOME HE WILL BE FINE.

HE HAS EATEN A DISH OF FOOD UDES THE TRAY AND RE-EXPLORING THE HOUSE, VERY RESTLESS.

THEY HAVE SHORN HIS FUR A BIT BUT ITS VERY SOFT AND WELL GROOMED. HE IS LOOKING GOOD BUT VERY RESTLESS.

JUST NEEDS TIME TO SETTLE. HE MAYBE UNDER MY BED BUT INEED TO REST NOW.

HAVE HAD A REPLY FROM GARETH WHO IS OVER THE MOON AND SAYS HE WILL NOW BE TELLING OTHER PATIENTS ABOUT LANGFORD.

MISA HAS TO HAVE ANOTHER BLOOED TEST IN 8 WEEK AND MORE UP TO 6 MONTHS BUT GAARETH OR ME CAN CONTACT LANDFORD WITH ANY QUESTIONS.

HE WANTS ATTENTION AND DONT THINK HE KNOW WHT TO DO WITH HIMWSELF AT MOMENT AND WAS NOT HAPPY COS HE COULDNT GO IN KITCHEN.

I AM EXHAUSTED BEEN A LONG DAY FOR ME AND MISA IS SHOUTING FOR ATTENTION OR SOMETHING AGAIN.......DONT KNOW IF HE WANTS MORE FOOD AND BETTER PUT SOME BISCUITS OUT I THINK.

A long day for all concerned by the sounds of it (Frances, treasure, hope your journey home is smooth and that you can have a good rest when you get in  )

Misa probably just needs to familiarise himself with home again now Gill, and best thing is to give him the space to do it while you gran yourself something to eat and have a relax yourself.  I can imagine the day has been quite tense even though it's been for all the right reasons.

Sending big snoozles to Misa from me, Moray, Malt and Barley.

Not too much longer and your precious little family will be whole again.   :)

Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on February 28, 2017, 02:18:41 AM
THANK YOU ALL  ;D ;D

YES I THINK HE IS UNSETTLED BECAUSE IT MUST BE STRANGE BEING HOME AND AM SURE THERE WAS A VERY STRICT ROUTINE AT LANGFORD VERY UNLIKE AT HOME.

BY NOW I AM SURE HE WOULD BE ASLEEP BUT HAS WOKEN UP MOVED AND WANTED STROKES.

HIS LITTER HAS STILL GOTTA BE TREATED AS RADIO ACTIVE FOR ANOTHER 2 DAYS WHICH WILL END ON THE DAY TWO COME HOME.

THIS IS BECAUSE HE HAD THE MIDDLE LEVEL OF TREATMENT, THE TOP LEVEL IS FOR CANCER PATIENTS. SO INSTEAD OF 4 WEEKS ITS 5 WEEKS.

SO ITS GOTTA BE DOUBLE BAGGED AND BECAUSE SASA AND LOOPY ARE NOT HERE THAT MAKES IT EASIER AND HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO GO IN THE KITCHEN EITHER.  WHICH IS THE FIRST PLACE HE WANTED TO GO.

HE IS ALSO VERY HUNGRY AND EATING MORE THAN USUAL.

YES I HAVE JUST FOUND ONE LARGISH PATCH THAT MUST HAVE BEEN SHAVED AND FUR JUSR STARTING TO GROW BUT HE IS DEFINATELY MORE BONEY FEELING THAN HE WAS AND TAKES UP LESS SPACE.

I WILL TRY AND GET A PHOTO OF HIM TOMORROW.

OH OH JUST DID THE LITTER TRAY AND NOW HE HAS GONE INTO HALL AGAIN, SUSPECT TO USE THE TRAY GRRRRRRRRRR.

GONNA BRING ANOTHER ONE DOWN TO GET READY SO CAN JUST DO A QUICK SWAP COS IT HAS TO HAVE  PLASTIC BAG IN WITH A PUPPY PAD ON TOP WITH LITTER ON TOP OF THAT SO I CAN JUST PICK UP PLATIS BAG AND LITTER IS BAGGED READY TO GO IN ANOTHER PLASTIB BAG.

THEY HAVE GIVEN ME SOME RUBBER GLOVES TO WEAR, SO TAKES A  WHILE TO SORT.

HAVE TO HOPE HE ISNT SICK COS THAT HAS TO BE DABBED UP AND NOT RUBBED BECAUSE APPARENTLY THAT SENDS THE RADIO ACTIVITY INTO THE AIR.

THINK THATS POSSIBLY WHY SILVIE SET OFF FIRE ALARM LOL.

LUCKILY HE IS ONLY 2 DAYS FROM THE END OF ALL THIS. I SUSPECT THEY ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION SO HE MAYBEIS  OK NOW BUT THEY HAVE SET TIME PERIODS FOR ALL 3 LEVELS OF TREATMENT AS A STANDARD.

HAVE TO SAY I DONT LIKE BEING SHOUTED AT AND WHEN HE WANTS ANYTHING HE SHOUTS AT ME!

HE IS NOW LOAFING AND WATCHING ME, COULD BE SAYING TURN OFF THE LIGHT AND GO TO BED BUT TOO EARLY FOR ME JUST NOW.

ONLY IN THAT HE CAN SHOUT AT ME EVERY 5 MINS FOR ATTENTION! DRIVING ME INSANE AND ONLY GOT 5 HRS SLEEP COS HE WOKE ME UP.

I AM HOPING WHEN HE CAN MOVE AROUND ALL DOWNSTAIRS AS NORMAL ON THUR IT WILL BE BETTER.

HE IS VERY THIN, CAN FEEL EVERY BONE AND HE ISNT EATING AS MUCH AS I HAD HOPED..

I HAVE TAKEN A PIC BUT STILL ON CARD COS HAVENT HAD DINNER YET!

I HOPE HE WILL SETTLE OVER THE WEEKEND AS SASA AND LUPIN NOW COMING HOME ON MON.

Silvie didn't eat a lot when she first came home, preferred the biscuits, she was too busy tearing around the garden and flying in and out of the cat flap. After a few days she was back wolfing down her felix. She has put on so much weight since home I think she needs to go the cat gym! But she isn't overweight, just about right now, tho she does have a double chin :evillaugh:

SO BAD WAS GOING TOO RING LANGFORD TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT HE DID THERE WHEN WANTING ATTENTION AND WHATBTHEIR SCHEDULE WAS AND WHAT HISNACCOMODATION WAS LIKE COS STILL NO PICS.

WHEN I DID FINALLY DROP OFF FOR A BIT ANDNHIS SHOUTING WAS BEING IGNORED I WAS THEN BEING POKED AND MEOWED AT. HE WS STNDING ON BACK LEGS AND TRYING VERY HARD TO GET ON SOFA BUT TOO HIGH.

IN THE END I WENT UPSTAIRS AND GOT THE BOX HE WAS USING TO CLIMB UP ON THERE AND ALSO A BIG BOOK WHICH MADE IT ANOTHE 2 INS HIGHER AND YES HE COULD GET UP.

HE THEN PROCEEDED TO PADDLE ME AND HOPED HE WOULD LIE DOWN AND DOZE OFF BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO HE THEN STARTED CLIMBING AROUND COS HE HAD NOT BEEN UP HERE FOR YEARS ANDE BEFORE I COULD STOP HIM HE SQUEEZED THRO A LITTLE GAP AT END AND DOWN AT BAQCK. MY NIGHTMARE COS THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO TRY AND MOVE SOFA TO GET HIM OUT.

SO HAD TO GET UP AGAIN............3 HRS SLEEP SO FAR........AND PHEW THERE WAS A CAT SIZED GAP WHERE HE COULD GET ON THE ARM FROM SOMETHING BEHIND AND HOPEFULLY A MISA SIZE GAP!  AFTER FINISHING HIS EXPLORING HE JUST MANAGED TO MSQUEZE  THRO  ;D ;D

THEN HE PROCEEDED TO TRAMP AROUND ALL OVER ME AND THE PLACES HER COULD LIE IF HE WANTED AND I KEPT DOZING OFF AND BEING WOKEN BY HIM OVER AND OVER.

END OF STORY, HE FINALLY LAID AGAINST ME AND WENT TO SLEEP AND SO DID I...........WAS WOKEN A COUPLE OF TIMES...........WHEN I WOKE UP MORE PROPERLY HE WAS STILL ASLEEP  ;D ;D

NOW AM FULLY AWAKE AND UP HE HAS VANISHED INTO STUDY TO WHERE EVER HE HIDES AND SLEEPS.

SO HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS AND JUST WONDER IF ITS TO DO WITH HIS HISTORY WITH ORIGINAL OWNER WHICH I BELIEVE WAS AN ELDERLY LADY WHO DIED AND WHETHER ME SLEEPING AND NOT MOVING WS WHAT HE FOUND WHEN SHE DIED. HE WAS THEN TAKEN ON BY A MALE RELATIVE WHO MISTREATED HIM AND TOOK HIM TO BE PTS AT 4 YRS OLD ALONG WITH HIS LITTLE FRIEND. BOTH SAVED BY VET TAKEN TO CP AND A WEEK LATEE MISA WAS WITH ME AND HIS FRIEND WITH SOMEONE ELSE, CP SID THEY WERENT BONDED.

UPSTAIRS IN BED MISA COULD GET ON THE BED AND CHECK I WAS OK BUT NOT ON THE SOFA DOWNSTAIRS. MAYBE HE WAS FEELING TOO ILL AND TIRE4D BEFORE LANGFORD AND THE4 OTHET 2 WERE ALSO HERE SO HE FELT EVERYTHING WAS OK.

I HOPE TONIGHT TO GET  FULL NIGHTS SLEEP A HE WILL BE ABLE TO CHECK ME OUT WHEN EVER HE WANTS!!

HEATHER JUST TO DY HE IS EATING HIS FOOD BUT ONLY HALF OR 3/4 POUCH AND AS ONE HAS HIS METACAM ON ITS IMPORTANT THAT HE EATS S MUCH OF THE TOP OF THAT ONE AS POSSIBLE. RIGHT NOW UNTOUCHED COS HE MUST BE AS TIRED AS ME AND IS SLEEPING SOMEWHERE.

IF THINGS STILL BAD TONIGHT MAY HAVE TO RING LANGFORD TOMORROW BUT HOPING I MAY HVE RESOLVE4D.

PIC WILL BE ON LATER  ;D

He's beautiful Gill.  Absolutely beautiful.  He's shouting because he's very pleased to be back with you again.  It's been a big thing for him - for any cat - travelling, staying in a strange place, with unsettling smells and people, his treatment, travelling back home again - No Sasa and no Loopy.  He's in a time of adjustment.  I think it's sweet that he wants his Ma.

It will also feel like a large space after his accommodation at Langford. He may feel a bit insecure having more space to move around in after being in cattery style accommodation for several weeks.

THANK YOU SUE AND SUSANNE  ;D ;D

YES I THINK YOU AND OTHERS ARE RIGHT SUE BUT ITS VERY WEARING AND ONLY 5 HRS SLEEP AGAIN.

FUNNY SUSANNE I WOULD HAVE AGREED WITH YOU BUT DONT THINK ITS THE CASE ABOUT SPACE!

HE HAS ONLY BEEN ABLE TO GO IN FRONT ROOM WHERE I SLEEP AT PRESENT, HALL AND STUDY. HE COULD GO UPSTAIRS IF HE CAN MAKE IT BUT DONT THINK HE HAS TRIED BUT HE WAS UPSET BECAUSE KITCHEN AND UTILITY ROOM WERE OFF LIMITS TO HIM UNTIL TODAY,,,RADIOACTIVITY!

AFTER STILL GETTING NO SLEEP BY 0500 AND HE WAS STILL SHOUTING EVERY FEW MINUTES EVEN THOUGH HE CAN NOW GET ON SOFA WITH ME, I GOT UP AND CLEARED HIS LAST TRAY FILLED HIS NORMAL TRAY IN KITCHEN, PUT OUT NEW FOOD WITH HIS METACAM ON AND HOUSE NOW FULLY OPEN TO HIM.

SHOUTING STOPPED, HE VANISHED, I WENT TO SLEEP FOR ABOUT 5HRS.

HE HASNT RETURNED AND HE IS ON BOTTOM SHELF OF PC DESK SO GUESS THATS WHERE HE HAS BEEN SLEEPING AND ALTHOUGH HE SW ME SEE HIM HE HAS NOT RETURNED IN HERE YET.

I THINK ITS MAYBE THE REGIME AT LANGFORD WHICH HAS AFFECTED HIM AND GUESS IT WAS VERY ROUTINE THE SAME EVERYDAY. HE DIDNT LIKE ME SWITCHING THE LIGHT OFF TO SLEEP AND DONT KNOW IF TONIGHT WILL N OW BE BETTER NOW HE HAS FREE ACCESS AGAIN.

I AM SURE EVERYTHING AT LANGFORD AFFECTED HIM AND HE IS VERY PLEASED TO BE HOME.

HE MAYBE MISSING SASA AND EVEN LOOKING FOR HER BUT THINK ITS BETTER HE ADJUSTS TO BEING HOME BEFORE LUPIN HITS THE HOUSE!!

I HOPE TONIGHT WILL BE BETTER BUT THINK HE IS SPENDING MOST OF DAY SLEEPING SO I DONT KNOW.

VERY HARD FOR HIM BUT ALSO FOR ME RIGHT NOW.

Only a few more days now Gill, if the tree hadn't been booked to come down this weekend they could have come home on Saturday or Sunday, but I am expecting a lot of mess to clear up on Sunday. Hence Monday you will all be reunited ;D ;D ;D. The car has been filled with petrol, I'll check oil and water on Sunday, we will leave about 4am on Monday and will hopefully be with you mid morning on Monday. I do like to be across the bridge early otherwise the queues can be horrendous. I am quite happy bowling along, but I hate sitting in queues. :P

MONDAY IS BETTER COS IT GIVES MISA MORE TIME TO EAT IN PEACE AND HOPEFULLY CATCH UP ON SOME SLEEP WHICH THINK HE IS DOING NOW.

ALSO FOR HIM JUST TO HOPEFULLY SETTLE BETTER BEFORE LITTLE WHIRLWIND ARRIVES HOME!

Im glad you are all reunited  ;D. It will take time for them to settle. It's like when they have been in a Cattery for a while - the cold shoulder is well known! Others become clingy or just seem unsettled. Mosi and Kito opt for the clingy and slightly unsettled approach and it took them a couple of weeks to settle down.

Gill, try not to worry.  I know right now, you'll be thinking "they don't love me any more" but they just need time to settle and find their feet again.

Paula's taken good care of Sasa and Lupin, and it's exactly what you'd have wanted, but it's all been a Terribly Big Adventure for them - Misa too - and I know after any holiday I always take a little while to get back to my usual routine, and the house seems strange yet familiar when I first get back.  It's why I like to have a few days at home afterwards if I can.   :evillaugh:

Where did everyone sleep last night?

IT IS VERY HARD SUE AND I KNOW THEY ALL HAVE TO ADJUST AGAIN.

PAULA TOOK SUCH GOOD CARE OF LUPIN AND SASA I THINK THEY WOULD RATHER BE BACK  WITH HER.

MISA SLEPT DOWNSTAIRS WITH ME AS HE HAS SINCE HE CAME HOME BUT DIDNT EAT HARDLY AT ALL COS OF ALL THE PEOPLE COMING TO THE HOUSE AND THAT I GAVE HIM SOME MORE EXPENSIVE FOOD AND HE WILL NOT TOUCH WHAT HE HAS BEEN EATING AT LANGFORD.

LUPIN IS UPSTAIRS ON MY BED BUT WILL NOT LET ME STROKE HIM AND WILL NOT PLAY LIKE WITH PAULA, THINK HE IS WAITING FOR BREAKFAST TIME!

SASA I HAVE TO ASSUME SLEPT UNDER MY BED  :(  BUT SHE ALSO IS NOT HAPPY WITH ME AND WILL NOT LET ME STROKE HER. HAVENT SEEN HER TODAY YET.

BOTH OF THEM ALSO NOT REALLY EATING.

MISA HAS EATEN NEARLY A POUCH OF BTHE OTHER 2S FOOD AND HAD HIS METACAM BUT USUALLY BY NOW HE WOULD BE DEVOURING POUCH 2 AND HE NEEDS TO EAT AS HE WAS TO PUT ON WEIGHT.

  I can tell you're feeling down, treasure, but it's been less than 24 hours yet.  Coming back to the telephone man and stuff may have just unsettled them a little bit more than may have been the case, but before the week's out, they'll be back in their old routines.

HAVE JUST SPOKEN TO AARTI AT LANGFORD COS WORRIED ABOUT MISA.

HE IS BEING SICK EVERY OTHER MORNING AFTER EATING AND SHE IS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS.

APOLOGIES ANDREW COS SHE SAID THAT SYPMTOMS OF IT BEING METACAM CAN APPEAR OVER A MONTH LATER.

SO METACAM HAS TO STOP FOR 3 DAYS AND TO TRY AND KEEP FOOD THE SAME......ARGHHHHHHHHHHH WOULD IF I KNIW WHAT HE WAS EATING!

HE HASNT HAD HIS METACAM TODAY COS HE HAD ALREADY EATEN TOO MUCH.

SHE IS ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT HIS HOWLING WHICH HAD STOPPEP AT LANGFORD AND IT MAYBE HE NEEDS ANOTHER T4 BLOOD TEST.

I HAVE TO RING HER AGAIN AFTER THE TRIAL HAS FINISHED.

I NEED A WORKING MOBILE GRRRRRRRRRRRR...........SEE A TEAM!!

THANK YOU LYNN.........NOW I HAVE ALL 3 CATS BACK SO HARD TO KNOW WHO HAS BEEN SICJ AND SOMEONE OR 2 HAVE BEEN SICK THIS MORNING AND NOT MISA!

HE IS JEALOUS OF LAP TOP AND HOWLS AND THEN HE MUST HAVE CONTINUOUS STROKING AND I ALSO MUST LOOK AT HIM OR ITS NOT ENOUGH AND HOWLS.

ITS JUST SO HARD TO KNOW WJETHER HE IS OK.

SHE SAID HE WANTED ATTENTION AT LANGFORD IN LAST 2 WEEKS BUT NO HOWLING IT WAS GOING UP TO PEOLE AND HEADBUTTING.

THE HOWLING IS A SIGN OF HYPER T BUT HIS LEVELS WERE NORMAL WHEN HE LEFT.

THIS COULD JUST BE MISA MAKING HIS PRESENCE KNOWN BUT HE NEVER DID THIS BEFORE HYPER T.

Oh that's a shame, but if his thyroid levels were normal when he came home, surely they wouldn't change again? Maybe he is just unsettled which is why he is howling? He is quite fluffy isn't he, wonder if he has a hairball which would make him sick?  Finger's crossed you can get to the bottom of it and he perks up :Luv:
Title: Re: MISA TO/BACK FROM LANGFORD HYPER T - NEWS

THANK HEATHER.

I WAS TOLD BY LANGFORD THEY COULD DROP MORE BUT WOUD COME BACK UP AGAIN AND THE FIRST BLOOD TEST WOULD BE NEEDED IN 8 WEEKS.

YES HE IS LONG HAIRED BUT HE IS BRINGING UP FOODS EACH TIME AND THATS WHY LANGFORD ARE WORRIED.  MY OWN FEELING IS THAT HE IS GOBBLING THIS FOOD BECAUSE HE IS VERY HUNGRY AND THATS WHY. BUT NOT SICK ALTHOUGH ONE OR BOTH OF THE OTHER CATS HAS BEEN!...........THINK ITSSASA  BECAUSE THERE WERE BISCUITS IN IT BUT SHE HELPED HERSELF TO SOME OF THIS FOOD TOO!

AARTI IS WORRIED ITS THE METACAM.IS FOOD A LOT BUT ONLY GIVE IT INFREQUENTLY COS THINK NOT ONLY DOES IT TASTE NICE BUT IS VERY RICH COMPARED TO NORMAL FELIX.

JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS AS I WRITE AT PAULAS SHE GAVE THEM THE FISH VERSION AND SASA LOVED IT BUT IMMEDIATELY UPCHUCKED IT. LUPIN WAS OK BUT HE GOBBLED IT TOO. BOTH MISA AND SASA ARE SENIOR CATS SO WONDER IF THAT COULD BE THE REASON.

BUT GIVE MISA PART OF A POUCH AND MORE LATER HE IS FINE.

HE HAS HAD NO METACAM TODAY AND HE HAS HAD THE SAME FOOD SINCE THE FIRST LOT OF FOOD

STILL SHOUTING, NOT EATING ENOUGH BUT SOMEONE IS BEING SICK...OR MORE THAN ONE, SO DONT THINK ITS THE METACAM BUT I AM NOT AS ORGANIZED AS LANGFORD.

FEEDING HIM THE HI-LIFE EVERY FIRST MEAL AND HE ISNT BRINGING THAT UO,,,,,,,,,,,,SO DOES THAT MEAN IT IS THE METACAM GRRRRRRRRRRRRR I DONT KNOW COS ITS BTHE ONLT FOOD HE IS REALLY EATING.

O GUESS GONNANHAVE TO START METACAM ON IT AGAIN  TO SEE!

HIS BACK LEGS ARE SO MUCH BETTER AFTER BEING ON METACAM IT WOULD BE REALLY SAD TO STOP IT.

THE ONLY WAY OF STOPPING HIM FROM ACTIVELY WAKING ME UP IS TO JUST KEEP STILL!  HOWEVER THIS MORNING AFTER TRYING A FEW TIMES HE DECIDED TO BE SICK RIGHT BY HEAD......JUSR WATER COLOURED AND THINK HE DID IT QUITE DELIBERATELY  >:( >:(  NOT A LOT BUT UNTIL I GOT UP AND LOOKED DIDNT KNOW!

is it Metacam or Loxicam? I know they are both very similar. Tabby was on Loxicam for her arthritis. That did make me laugh about him being sick by your head, cats never seem to bother where they puke
Tabby also did that a few times on my bed :sneaky:

ITS THE HI-LIFE CHICKEN AND CHICKEN AND LIVER THAT MISA LOVES THAT HAD THE METACAM ON AND HE WAS BEING SICK.

HE HAS HAD THE FOOD FOR LAST 3 DAYS AND DONT THINK HE HAS BEEN SICK BUT ONE OF OTHERS HAS.THINK IT SASA BUT NOT SURE BUT THEY HAD ALSO EATEN BISCUITS.

YES HEATHER THATS WHAT LANGFORD ARE WORRIED ABOUT AND IF ITS NETACAM MAKING HIM SICK THEN IT WILL HAVE TO BE STOPPED.

I AGREE WITH YOU PAULA EXCEPT THIS MORNING I THINK MISA DID IT QUITE DELIBERATELY SO I WOULD MOVE!!

HAVE SPOKEN TO AARTI AT LANGFORD AGAIN AND NEWS MUCH BETTER  ;D ;D

MISA HASNT REALLY BEEN SICK, ONLY A BIT OCCASIONALLY AND CAN BE ANY FOOD, ESPECIALLY DURING THE NIGHT WHEN HE WAS I THINK DELIBERATELY SICK BY MY HEAD,TRYING TO WAKE ME UP.......HE SUCCEEDED IN GETTING ME TO MOVE FAST!

ANYWAY SHE IS VERY IMPRESSED THAT THE EFFECTS OF THE METACAM ARE STILL THERE 4 DAYS SINCE HAVING ANY AS SHE SAYS NORMALLY THE EFFECT WOULD WEAR OFF IN 24 HOURS.

MISA IS GOING UP STAIRS, WAS UP THERE ABOUT AN HOUR AGO AND USING TRAY UP THERE. HE IS CLIMBING ALL OVER THE SOFA, DOWN THE BACK , ON TO THE TOP AND BACK DOWN AGAIN. THE STEP UP FROM THE BOX IS HIGHER THAN MY STAIR STEP!

HE IS FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I HAVE HAD HIM WALKING WITH MUCH LONGER STRIDES AT THE BACK.

AARTI SAYS THIS IS VERY GOOD AND THEREFORE TO LEAVE HIM OFF THE METACAM AND MONITOR HIM. IF HE STARTS TO GET WORSE AGIN TO PUT HIM BACK ON, MAYBE AT A LOWER DOSE.

I REALIZED LAST NIGHT THAT THE DOSE HE HAS HAD FROM LANGFORD AT 3.75 IS MUCH HIGHER THAN I THINK HE EVER HAD BEFORE.......1.75 TO 2.00......SO MAYBE WHY THE BIG DIFFERENCE IN HIS MOVEMENT. SO SAD THAT I HADNT KNOWN THIS BEFORE.

SO IT SEEMS THINGS ARE GOOD AND IF ALL STAYS THAT WAY HE WILL NEED A BLOOD TEST IN ABOUT 5 WEEKS.

HE IS STILL SHOUTING AT ME BUT THINK ITS BECAUSE HE WANTS SOMETHING AND IS DETERMINED TO MAKE SURE I TAKE NOTICE BUT PROBLEM IS ITS MOSTLY AT NIGHT AND GOT NO SLEEP LAST NIGHT AT ALL COS WAS EXPECTING HIM TO WAKE ME AS SOON AS I DOZED OFF AND COULDNTGET TO SLEEP.

JUST TO ADD TO THE FUN SASA AND LUPIN BOTH DECIDED TO SLEEP DOWN HERE TOO AND USUALLY SASA SNORES WOULD MAKE ME SLEEP!

When we took Moses the Devil Cat to the vet, he needed a blood test, but he would not co-operate. Out came the cat muzzle, and no way could they get it on him, he turned into a whirling dervish of teeth, jaws, spittle and devil howling! Had to stay in, in the end, to be sedated! Although the muzzle did look a bit

I thought he would have settled down by now :( Have you tried earplugs? our cat moses keeps howling on and off during the night not so bad now as I got a gel pad i heat in  microwave and it has a cover so put it on bed and he curls up and sleeps more. think its a combination of arthritis and a bit of feline dementia he is 18/19.Can you get an Asda  or similar shop food delivered to you and get your cat litter that way?

I agree with Sue Gill, having a helping hand has made my mother in law a lot more content just picking up prescriptions and things it has taken a huge weight of her mind and let her concentrate on the things she likes doing - I know you don't mind your own company but sometimes only another human will do

AFRAID NOT HEATHER AS THEY ARE 40 MILES ROUND TRIP AWAY AND TO COME OUT WOULD COST AT LEAST £150 POUNDS!

YES I AM ABOUT 15 MILES FROM EVERYTHING AND THE CLOSEST VET HERE IF IT STILL EXISTS IS USELESS BUT EVEN THAT 5-10 MILES AWAY. WOULD BE OVER 15 MILES TO GET TO ONE IN CARMARTHEN BUT MY VET IS THE BEST AND ANOTHER 5 MILES NOTHING BY CAR ALONG M4.

WHEN I MOVED HERE NEVER THOUGHT OF ALL THE DOWNSIDES AND LEARNT TO DRIVE DURING FIRST YEAR BECAUSE DISCOVERED I WAS STRANDED WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO, WAS LUCKY PASSED FIRST TIME SO WAS DRIVING IN A YEAR AND 2 MONTHS!

Do you not have a car at the moment or are you unable to drive?? Such a shame as he needs his blood test done so you can see how his T4 levels are.  What you need is a volunteer vet nurse who would come to you and take the blood, just a shame everthing is so flipping expensive these days!  Is there ay way you can claim through your insurance for a home visit or have you reached the max with the bills now?

THE INS WILL NOT PAY FOR HOME VISITS AND MY VET CHARGES A FORTUNE FOR ANYONE TO COME OUT DUE TO MY LOCATION. MISA IS HARD TO GET BLOOD FROM AND VN WOUDNT BE ABLE TO DO IT ANYWAY.

YOU ARE RIGHT I NEED TO SEE HOW HE IS DOIND.

YES I HAVE A CAR BUT HAVE LOST THE FEELING IN RIGHT FOOT SO BEINGAN NAUTO THATS THE FOOT YOU NEED.  MALSO RIGHT NOW MY EYES ARE BAD AND AM AT AV NEXT WED.

I RFEALLY SHOULDNT EVEN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE AND WAS A NIGHTMARE A WEEK OR SO AGO, USING LEFT FOOT ON BRAKE AND TRYING TO KEEP RIGHT FOOT OVER ACCELERATOR COS IF I ,OVED IT COULDNRT FIND IT AGAIN!

SO AM TOTALLY STUCK.

WAS HOPING TO GET HAND CONTROLS FOR CAR DONE VERY QUICKLY BUT THATS JUST A JOKE.

Gill - check out Alison's thread - I think Alison has posted a link to a cab firm who may be able to help.  Worth giving them a ring.  I don't think they're your conventional cab co - also I think it was Susanne who found a number for someone in your area who does pet transport runs (and gardening services) - you may not have seen them, so take a look.

A lot has changed for both Gill and all the cats since she last posted on the thread - it's all on the A-team thread to catch up.  I think she did manage to get him tested (can't remember how she managed it!) and his results came back okay. :)
