Title: Hi Everyone - Regarding Product Milk Thistle for Cat
Post by: Cat Billo on November 27, 2016, 17:40:19 PM
Hi, Has anyone tried Milk Thistle for cats. My cat is not well, the ultrasound showed mass on his liver, there are few scattered throughout in liver. He has fluid buildup in the abdomen too.

Please if anyone can advise.

SORRY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS BUT SOUNDS LIKE A NONE VET THING.

AFRAID I WOULD GO WITH WHAT YOUR VET ADVISES FOR YOUR CATS CONDITION AND BUILD UP OF FLUIDS USUALLY NEEDS DURITICS WHICH ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FROM THE VET.

SENDING GOOD WISHES FOR YOUR BOY

I found this link: http://veterinarymedicine.dvm360.com/journal-scan-can-milk-thistle-be-used-treat-liver-disease

Their conclusion is:

"There are no randomized clinical trials evaluating milk thistle use in clinically affected animals with liver disease, but studies in animal models thus far are promising. It is important to remember that this drug should not be used as the sole therapy for patients with liver disease and that there is currently limited pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic information about milk thistle in dogs and cats."
