Russian Blue

Your fur coat was a rich hue
of blue gray with an underlay
of silver ends stippled white
so that the whole was jewel-like
in its silken beauty, soft to the touch,
gleaming over tight muscles.

You were a timid soul, gentle,
wanting so to be loved, but
shying from my touch, submitting
only on your own terms
when we were on the same level,
equal. Only then did you give way.

So, it is only fitting that my memories
of your leaving are pewter gray,
another metal tone, dull to the senses,
without the shine you brought,
the sky was just a shade
of Russian blue, leaden, steely, sad.

Farewell Trigger.  You leave behind a sorely broken heart, but one that is filled with love for you.

And such a beautiful epitaph; for you, and inspired by you.  The Bridge has welcomed you home.

At some time to come it will be a great comfort Kay that your beautiful boy passed away so peacefully.  Am so very sorry for the enormous loss you now feel  :( :( :(

The decision to let them go can be torture, I know, but I am sure this was the right time for Trigger.  What a beautiful boy he was. 

I am so glad that he had a lovely last month of sunshine with you, these are memories to treasure.
