Title: Greetings from Germany :-)
Post by: sunshinekath on October 22, 2014, 13:32:46 PM
 Hello everybody,

I just wanted to say hello and send some greetings from all my cats at home  ;)

Sometimes I order some products in the shop that is the reason how I came here. I have three wonderful cats named Moonie and Maya (they are brothers) and a female cat named Melina but I call her always Lina (it is shorter). I adopted all of them when they were kittens. Moonie and Maya came to me when they were 8 weeks old. I know it was too young. A few months after I became a cat owner, I started to foster homeless cats at a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. We have a lot of these NGOs here in Germany, at national level and at regional level. I specialised to foster pregnant cats as I have a separate room for them, so that they can give birth to their kittens in privacy and safety. Once the little ones are 12 weeks old they move into their new homes as well as the mother cat. My third cat, Melina, is one of these kittens that were born in my foster room and which I raised up. When she was three weeks old she showed very clearly - each day - that she does not intend to move out. After 5 weeks of trying to convince me (I did  not want a third cat!), she suceeded and I backed down. She worked each day on me during 5 weeks. It was almost impossible to say no. Well, now she has become a real member of my cat family, which is impossible to be imagined without her.

After her moving in, I continued to foster homeless cats. Currently I have 6 kittens that look for a new home and a mother cat.
Here are the pictures of my cats:

What an incredible first post  :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

 :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: Sunshinekath

You are slave to the most beautiful cats and I can well see why Melina stole your heart.  What a beauty and what handsome boys too  :Luv2:

Such a hard thing to let go of kittens/cats when you foster.  Well done you   I would certainly have a problem giving up Cara if she were here  :Luv2:

You are slave to the most beautiful cats

I know  :Luv2:

that is the reason why my fosters "normally" do not have a chance, except Melina of course! She was a big exception.....however...from the 6 kittens that are my current fosters Smart is the one who is very needy and tries to twist me around my finger. See yourself:

Cara is a really special one. She is not a typical cuddling cat but very peculiar. The 6 kittens were very reclusive when I picked them up. She was one of those who were very reserved and she still is. It takes a long time to get her trust.

:welcome: to Purrs  :) You have a gorgeous fur family  :Luv2: :Luv: :Luv2: and your current fosters, well I think if it were me I would find it very difficult to part with any of them as tabbies and black cats are my favourites  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: Smart would seriously tug at my heart strings , as would Cara as I am drawn to the shy ones  ;D I do hope they all manage to find wonderful forever homes.

Oh dear. Those pics of Smart brought a tear to my eye for sure.

So reminds me of my gorgeous Millie Monster (sadly RIP). Long, lean, silky and black with just a hint of a Siamese face.  Be still my beating heart  :catluv: :catluv: :catluv:

So special to have such trusting bond with a cat.  Can't imagine being able to let go if Smart were here.  Best of luck finding homes for your foster furbs

Ok, the following kitten still look for a new home:
Smart, Clever, Marie, Cara and mother cat Lucy. Tino and Bernstein have been adopted yesterday.  :Luv2: They will live in a family as outdoor cats.

I just need to find out what are the import rules of cats for the UK. In Germany you need the cat to have a anti-rabies inoculation and a transponder chip. Does maybe anyone of you know what they need to cross the border?
Title: Re: Greetings from Germany :-)
Post by: Sue P (Paddysmum) on October 24, 2014, 17:55:54 PM
I think it's the same as for Germany - rabies vaccination a certain number of weeks before travel and to be microchipped.  My stepdaughter transported her cat to Spain when they moved and then back again  when they returned.  The same applied there too, save for the microchip which wasn't a requirement.  I may have to go and investigate now.  Just in case anyone needs to know.....

ok, so it is rather easygoing. the vaccination is done very quickly and we would have to wait 21 days and to find someone who can take the cat on the air plane. Should be easily organized. They are all already microchipped. They just need that blue Euro-passport but that is also done very quickly.

First come first serve ;D :sneaky: :briggin:
