Does anyone know where I stand on this legally?
I have fed, watered, flead, wormed & bathed him. He's been checked for a chip - none. Put posters up in my local area & my vet. Ran a found ad in the local paper - 1 response but he wasn't hers. Rang local police station to check for lost or stolen kittens - nothing. Merlin's a lovely little lad & I want to keep him. My worry is if an owner turns up in 2/3 months to claim him, where do I stand?? :thanks:

As far as I know, the only way of claiming ownership legally is by microchip registration.
Legally you have to wait seven days after first notifying him as "found/lost" before you can claim him as a stray and start neutering/microchipping him as your own, and I know you've done everything required to qualify on these grounds.
I'd get him chipped to your address asap to prevent any misunderstandings later on, but I think you're on very safe and solid ground right now. ;D

Also does anyone have some info on keeping Maine coon/Norwegian forest cats?? I'm treating Merlin as one of those as he looks very much like one of them & eats like one. A very nice lady at my local pets at home recommended Royal Canin for Maine Coons, this seems to have slaked his appetite a bit, I still have to put him in another room when feeding my others.
I've never had a big breed or crossbreed cat before & I would like some pointers :thanks:
