Hi all,

 Basic background:

 * Tenant left Mother cat and 5 kittens at my house.
 * I was able to rehome 2 kittens.
 * Didn't want to take mother away because of the other kittens.
 * RSPCA were called by the police due to abandonment of the cats.
 * They removed the 3 remaining kittens, but left mummy in case she had more kittens.
 * They contacted us to check if she had.
 * We rang to say she hadn't had any more that we could see/tell.

However, we found out today from the neighbour that they are going to put her to sleep , they refused to let the neighbour (who has been feeding her for us) take her in as they believed that she was going to return her to the previous owner. She was in tears whilst telling me about it.

We are shocked and to be completely honest heart broken that they are going to do this to her. We thought she would be rehomed as she is a young cat (about 3/4) She is an amazing cat and we've someone that is willing to take her in for us.

Is there anything I can do to get this cat returned to me?

I am going to ring them in the morning but I have no idea what to say to them.

If the RSPCA were called by the Police to seize the cats after abandonment I wonder if they won't release her beacuse she's part of a cruelty case? It's just unthinkable that they would put her to sleep for the crime of being abandoned  :(

i'M JUST SPEECHLESS!! Why do the RSPCA put across a "caring image"when they are not very caring? >:(

I think the lady should go straight to the press!

So do I.  It's utterly disgusting!  So many people have the wrong impression of this " charity ".

Hi,

I am the OP of the thread on the other sites.

Can I say a huge thanks to mervyn7451 for starting this one for me.

Sorry it's taken me a while to appear, my internet is running at the speed of a snail and I've been on the phone most of the day!

I am looking at contacting the media, not living in the area where she is, I'm trying to decide which is the best one to approach. :)

Thanks for all your replies :)

xx

:welcome: to Purrs and hope you can get some interested.

Local radio is also a good idea.

RSPCA are getting away with murder literally and I apologize to the small branches that work so hard and do not kill cats.

Have finally got through to them, still have no idea which branch she is at!

However they will be getting the officer dealing with the case to ring me back, so fingers crossed I will be allowed to give her a new home

Good news update!

Have spoken to the RSPCA officer that is dealing with the case and he says that she is currently in a boarding house with the kittens in Newport.

Nothing can happen at the moment until the owner decides to sign them over.

So hopefully things are looking up for the mummy :D

I had e-mail from Victoria on 12 July saying mum and kittens are in a foster home and will be placed for rehoming with Newport brancj/ She said once she knows when they are going to be available she will post on Purrs to see if anyone in the area would like to rehome her. I wil e-mail her to see if there is any update.
