Hi all,
My vet friend had an 18 year old neutered male cat brought in by his owner who said he could no longer have the cat as he was moving in to a 1-bed flat. He brought him in the be PTS, but on looking at the cat in the carrier my friend was shocked, as she expected an ill-looking old cat.
He's a seemingly very healthy 18yr old neutered male, FeLV/FIV negative, very nervous at being moved into a strange place and only has flea dirt as a problem. He's been frontlined and needs a home desperately! He's been signed over to her, and she's hanging onto him for a few days to make sure no fleas are transferred anywhere.
Anyone who can offer this old boy a home please let me know. He's currently in a practice in Nottingham.
Not sure what's he's like with other cats/dogs etc, as he was signed over and once flead left to settle because he looked petrified. Poor old boy.
My friend said he's a good weight (not a typical skinny oldie).

Poor boy, I dont understand why he couldnt move with her, fancy sending a healthy old boy to be PTS, people are just beyond me!
I do hope someone will come along and take him in for his twilight years, he shouldnt have been upset like this :(

I know... an older cat wouldn't ask for much, but people always seem to find an excuse... :(
And he was terrified when my friend got him into a kennel. What a shock for this old boy.
Basically, this little guy is at risk as we speak. The practice owner's kennels are filling, and he's needed to be out or PTS, so, to save him, my vet friend can get him to her house, and I can pick him up and keep him short-term, but he REALLY needs a home, and likely a transport run. Poor lad! He's adorable. why can't the owner keep him? Even if he is used to outdoor access and the owner thinks he wouldn't cope with a flat, I'm sure he would rather be with his owner in a flat than have to be rehomed. At that age all he probably wants is a lap to curl up on. Wish I could take him :(

What a lovely cat! I'd like to bet he'd be happy with his owner where ever he lived. Such a shame.

I know... the owner just apparently said he was moving into a 1-bed flat, and he couldn't take the cat. He was an older man (not elderly) but wanted the cheapest option. Judging by the flea dirt and lack of veterinary treatment on his records, I don't think he was cared for very well. When my vet friend said if he signed him over and just paid for FeLV and FIV it would be cheaper, he wanted to do that.
Had one possible offer of a home, waiting to see what happens with that, but it's in Kent and he's in Nottingham, so essentially a transport run needs sorting. A few people have offered to help, so I need to know if he definitely has a home and then we can sort out the transport. My friend has to get him out of work tomorrow and is taking him home to her house, and I am picking him up Saturday to keeo him safe until I can sort him a home. I'm a locum vet nurse working on and off this and next week and going on holiday next Wed, so I want to try and sort something for this poor, sweet old boy as soon as possible. I imagine he is so worried and scared it's just not fair for him to get to that age an become unwanted. :(

This little old guy looks to be sorted :)
He's going to live with Ruth in Kent, and transport is being sorted as I write for this Sunday. Just waiting on final details from my vet friend about the first leg of the run.
So pleased he'll have a loving home forever... and no more excuses and upheaval for this wonderful old boy.
My friend text last night to say he talks to the other strays they have in, so it sounds like he may be a little chattebox :Luv:

That's good news ;D I hope he settles in really quickly (it sounds as though he is!) and can enjoy his twilight years without having any more upheaval in his life.

I have just read this and am so happy that he has found a good home so quickly. He looks like a lovely cat :Luv2:
