Title: Norwegian Troll Twins - Sheffield (Homed)
Post by: midgecat on February 12, 2011, 10:28:31 AM
I'm fostering a couple Norwegian forest cats - twin brothers who will be 3 in April.  They came from a breeder who's circumstances changed and she was no longer able to cope with them.  They'd got a bit neglected - coats very tangled and a bit underweight but clearly been loved at one time.  One of them (Bilbo) has had to have most of his fur clippered off, the other (Frodo) is being pinned down daily to try to remove tangles.  They can't decide who has had the better deal with that one ;)

Bilbo is a lovely confident friendly boy - desperate for any cuddles and attention on offer.  Frodo is a little more shy but also very friendly when he gets to know you.  They possibly could be rehomed separately but it would be good for them to go together.  They play together and last night were sitting on my knee together grooming each other's heads.

They're both neutered and microchipped.  Happy with other cats and have been used to dogs and children at their previous home.  They've been used to being indoor cats.  They've had health check with our vet and he says they're fine - apart from needing to put a little weight on.  They've been committed to doing this since they came into foster care :)

There's more info about them and pics at: http://www.rainrescuecats.org.uk/
but i'll post some pics here too.

oh no- I shouldnt have looked at these two!
they are absolutely beautiful! and then lord forgive me i saw Angel, possibly the prettiest little girl ive seen! I hope they find homes soon but if not then against all "wanting a female kitten to play with ours logic". I love furry cats, i think its that extra pampering they need to look beautifull and they are look so snuggly :Luv2:
I am in love with angel :Luv2:

yes ... angel is very adorable ..... and sooooo tiny.  i don't know if birmans are a small breed or she just happens to be so little.  she's very sweet and tolerates the mad boys playing/fighting around her very well.  i gave her her own bedroom the other night thinking she'd like a bit of peace - but she cried and cried until i put her with the bad lads again.  she really does like butter wouldn't melt .. at the side of them. ;)

Im afraid im not that knowledgble about cat breeds , I thought she was a ragdoll maybe so shows how much i know
she looks like an angel thats for sure :Luv2:
well if you dont get her homed id love to be considered- the only problem from my side is I live in birmingham and cant travel unless by public transport so would need help getting her here but she would be loved here without a doubt! I have Georgia the kitten so hopefully they would get on, my eldest daughter and i would love grooming her thats for sure :Luv:
hopefully all three will get homed real quick with those adorable looks but Im here if they dont and could home one...as you can guess i love fluffy cats :naughty:

I really hope they home Bilbo and Frodo together - i hate it when they split up ones that love each other.

Angel is 6. Came from the same breeder as the boys for the same reason.  She's spayed & chipped.  No health issues apart from a tooth that she had out last week.  Her jaw is slightly misalligned.  Not that its noticeable but the breeder thought it was adding to her diffiuclties in grooming herself.  her coat really was a horrible mess when she arrived.  she's also been clippered - though somehow it blends in well with her fur where clippering seems to have just made bilbo look like ET.   She's a pretty little thing, playful and affectionate though a bit overshadowed by the big bad boys.  There's more info about her at http://www.rainrescuecats.org.uk/

Birmans are small cats  and hate not being with people and they will howl and howl if isolated  :shify: :shify:

I have two and they are very affectionate but also very clever and  are very good at teaching their humans what they want

There blue eyes and cute white paws make them look adorable  :innocent:

thanks for the info about birmans gill.  i'd never had any dealings with 'posh' cats until these guys came into foster about 3 weeks ago.

Angel reminds me a bit of my cat sooty, i was told he was a siamese cross, but familly always say he is a birman. I read the info on angel, im not sure i would be able to keep up with the cats coat, ive always had short hair cats.

sooty my cat below

she is so gorgeous though, and i love interactive cats, that love ther humans.

Sassy yours does look like a siamese cross cos of the head, pic a bit small to see clearly.

She also looks a bit big for a birman.

I'd say soot was a siamese as well, I love them!  still can't believe we haven't tempted Gillan over here to see Angel - surely she needs a home with a professional groomer!

Hi

I've sent an email via the website with my email address and number if someone could give me a call.  Transport is a bit of an issue but think we can possibly provide a lovely home.

Thanks

sooty

sooty does sometimes squat on a pile of clothes if ther is any on the floor, i dont know why, he uses the tray, i think it must be comfy, and my old oriental x sometimes sprays on my curtains, i think he is just being lazy, because he asks to go out usually.

my daughter loves the norweigan forest cats as shes convinced thats what my moms other rescue cat is, she does look like one so she might be, all we knew was her mom was a feral, Pansys quite wild though and goes off on hunting adventures in Devon and comes back with burs in her fur.

Definitely - my camera will be getting a real workout this weekend.

My husband's two favourite books are 'Norwegian Wood' and 'Lord of the Rings' so we think it's fate to have Norwegian Forests named Bilbo and Frodo!

Yes!  They have settled amazingly well.  As I type Frodo is curled up on the landing and Bilbo is curled up in the cat hammock.  Although I planned to keep them separate for a while they settled so quickly that I introduced them to the boys and everyone's getting on famously.  Charlie has even relinquished his stronghold on the hammock so Bilbo can use it and they are sharing their toys.

I'll try and get some pictures sorted tomorrow - it's been a very overwhelming day (in a fantastic way!).  What amazingly beautiful additions to our family.

Aw bless - we did talk about taking Angel as I hate to split them up if they have formed a bond but I understand she's having a visit and otherwise six boisterous lads might be a bit much.  Still, if she does keep pining, there's always here for her :)

My husband's phoned his Mum this evening gushing with pride about them and mine is coming to 'see something special' tomorrow but doesn't know what.  I've loved all our boys from the second I saw them but these are very very special - perhaps because they've just become part of the family so instantly.  Thanks for all the lovely comments :)

"Aw bless - we did talk about taking Angel as I hate to split them up if they have formed a bond but I understand she's having a visit and otherwise six boisterous lads might be a bit much.  Still, if she does keep pining, there's always here for her "

I think two boisterous lads were a bit much for her - but she obviously preferred their company to being alone.  Them going has brought some positives for her.  She's allowed downstairs and in my bedroom now which the trolls weren't cos they frightened my beautiful Mog.  And my lovely Jango - who seems quite unphased by whatever visitors land on him - is keeping her company some of the time.
