Title: Urgent Feral Persian (Sorted)
Post by: Steff - Petsearch Bedford HQ on July 18, 2010, 22:04:44 PM
Petsearch Bedford has just received a call from a lady (who is currently trying to start her own rescue) who has ended up with a bit of a handle.

A stray and pretty feral male entire persian has made its way to her by following her other cats home. He is currently in her bathroom and is spraying and pooing all over the place and when he is out he tries to mate her neutered female cat.

She is currently handrearing 3 kittens and is worried in case he has anything he could pass to them etc etc.

He needs a place to stay, he needs neutering and he needs rehab time to tame him.  Nearby rescues are full and rspca suggested she drowned him!!!!!

I could offer my shed but that is really no good.

Can anyone help at all??

If she had more experience with ferals and a dedicated room and didn't have the kittens she would keep him and work with him but can't.

rspca suggested she drowned him!!!!!

If this is true, it needs to be reported to the national media and a full enquiry should be started. >:(

That's what she told me they said, another lady with a found cat was told that if they took it they would just pts.

This lady is going to complain.

I guess without recorded conversation evidence there is no proof so whether it would be taken seriously or not I don't know :(

Might've been someones idea of a joke - but even if it was, it's in very poor taste.

Hope a place can be found soon. :)

Unbelievable  :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

How about Pauline at Thorneywood -i know there have been issues with Thorneywood for some reasons -But i would be willing to take him up to her if she could take him - if someone could get him 1/2 way to me .

I would be willing to contact her and ask her if she could take him .

I also don't know what the issues were with Thorneywood but its probably better than where he is now.

This lady is definitely trying to help but she is an inexperienced new rescuer by the sounds of it.

She has 5 cats of her own, a dog, a 16 month old daughter, 3 kittens she is handrearing, a full time job and now a very wild persian causing havoc in her bathroom. Its far from ideal.

She wanted me to take the cat tonight but I have nowhere for him, she knows he needs help asap but if she can't find someone in the next few days then she will be releasing him into the "wild" again.

If Pauline is prepared to take him on and work with him this may be his best chance.

Please could you try contacting her, I don't know how to get hold of her.

This lady sounds really desperate hence my post.

She isn''t very good with anything thats not very friendly !

There were issues a few years back with some persians that she had from a breeder that weren''t people friendly and they were kept outside i think and she didn''t seem to be able to handle them .
Not sure what happened -But the RSPCA were involved and they were all put to sleep or died under the anasethtic when they were shaved - not sure of the proper story -but the outcome was they all died  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Thanks Bungly.

I had Chapelhouse in mind but have been operating from my blackberry 2nite so don't have full web access. Just looked on their site but couldn't see a number for them.

Does anyone know how to contact them?

Think you have to email only and she is usually /used to be a bit slow in answering .
In all honesty i think Thorneywood would be better.
