Title: Pretty kitten wanted! (Sorted)
Post by: kcsunshine on March 15, 2010, 15:31:15 PM
:Luv: we are looking for a female kitten to join our throng. We have two children (5-9 years) who adore our 5yo neutered moggy boy, and would love to give an indoor/outdoor home to a pretty little girl. Our boy has catflap access in and out of our home so in due course so would the new cat. I love semi longhairs but am open minded!

Hi, thank you; am currently on waiting list with CLAWS Maidenhead who gave us our Simba. They're lovely ladies, I'm just being impatient in case anything comes our way in the meantime; could even end up with two more! We are Berkshire, M4 corridor.

Anks for the tip-offs; I have been checking in on rescue pages, but most seem to be waiting on kittens now! The Siamese at diana b's is lovely; I don't know much about the breed; are they easy to live with?

Would you consider a cat aged 1-2 years?

In some ways that may be better than a kitten, because you can see their personality more, and guage how they would fit in with your existing furbabe?

Just a thought  :shy:

I know nothing about  Siamese apart from they are very beautiful, and can be quite vocal too  ;D

Sorry i missed the kitten part of your post  :shy: I don't know much about siamese either, just know of the rescue as i knew someone who lived in berkshire who volunteered for them. I know they're very friendly so maybe they could advise you?

it is a tricky one - we rescued Simba last year when he was four, which enabled the ladies at CLAWS to match him with us soooo well - he has put up with and taught so much to my 5yo daughter who used to love him a little too much but has now learned how to carry him and let him go when he warns her!  :briggin: Now he will actually seek her out on the sofa and favour her almost as much as he always has done with my son!
I have this ideal of going to a rescue or a home with a litter of kittens from which we can pick one or two that we feel an affinity towards like I did with my first ever puss, Bodley . . . but yes, I realise this may not be the most sensible option, just ever so appealing.  :Luv2:

I have read that Siamese can be escapologists - we have a huge garden, but it's not insurmountable, just that our boy chooses to know the boundaries and hasn't ever strayed beyond it. I'd quite like a savvy cat that is laid back enough not to want to broaden her horizons too much . . .   8)

I've just recommended that someone posting on schoolstrader looking specifically for a siamese take a look at her at DBARC. She was very excited.  :wow:

Hee hee! I've been called it before and I wasn't insulted. Means won't let go, terrier-like in persistance . .  ;)

Then yes, I am.....I had a vague idea, but wasn't sure. I actually call myself "terrier like" when something bothers me!

I think we've gone and got ourselves a kitty! Have a look at her, I think she's gorgeous.  :Luv2:

We have reserved her today, (the kids and me) come home, apparently I then 'bullied (as if!) my husband into submission until he said go get her. :innocent:
She's recently had kittens and now they've been weaned. She's super lovely and super sweet. They're going to neuter her before we get to bring her home to meet Simba.  ;)
Yay!

I rather like it, but my daughter (who's the excuse for me to get another cat!   :sneaky: ) wants her to be called after a Disney princess.

Excellent and well done for changing your mind and adopting an older cat. As Clare said, there are so many young cats who are no more than babies themselves but get overlooked in favour of new kittens. They were all tiny kittens once and their only crime is to grow up too fast.  :(

Cheese is lovely... I'm sure you'll have many happy years together.  :briggin:

Why thank you! I'm hoping she's not an utter terror, she seemed sooooooo sweet and affectionate in the shelter. She's very dainty and very tolerant. Just hope she and our boy pussum get on well and become best buddies! Her story was that someone left her in a basket on Egham station with another cat (who's already been rehomed separately) so I guessshe likes friends. Nearly cried when the girl at Battersea was telling me: however could you just drop your cat at a station like that. She's obviously been loved and handled.
Just waiting for vet to be happy she can be spayed now before we can make her ours and bring her home.
