I got my cat back and consider myself VERY LUCKY
I keep thinking about the many who haven't so this what I think is important!
Email local vets with description if you have no reply ( as I had) resend at a later date with photo's if possible!
My daughter had telephoned vets in question but they had lost the contact it was only the fact that I resent emails that enabled them to contact!
He was first taken to another vets who recognised description
Merlin hadn't been micro-chipped he is 12 and he was purchased instead of my husband's first mobile phone ( a brick) so technology wasn't readily available
Tried to put details on as many websites as possible so that he was not considered a stray but a cat who had lost his way
Hope you have luck with yours x

Thanks for posting and I agree, my sister told me the other day of a friend's cat who was missing for a month and when it turned out was living with a elderly couple! quite a way from their home. If the couple hadn't taken him to the vet for some ailment he wouldn't have been scanned and returned - at least not so soon.

I think chips are now invaluable and the message has to be , chip chip chip even if they are indoors cats.
