Title: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire SORTED
Post by: JackSpratt on November 02, 2009, 21:15:59 PM
Fifi is a young female needing a new home due to a partners allergy. She's good with children and has recently been living quite happily as an indoor cat, although she has in the past been allowed out and seemed equally happy.

Her diet consists of indoor dry cat food, and is used to low dust lightweight cat litter.

Fifi is flea'd, wormed, spayed and her boosters are due in December. She is, I'm told a very loving girl.

The picture is the only one I've been sent.

She decided after Mika stayed with you that she wanted to let her boy settle in first with it being a new home. Which I think is fair enough; and my cats are probably quite relieved too.....

I don't think she's going to get abandoned, but I'm not sure how long. The partners asthma is apparently increasingly worsening.

poor girl  :( is she advertised on rescues on CC?
Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: JackSpratt on November 07, 2009, 11:09:40 AM
She's in rescue and rehoming on there, yes.

The lady has contacted the local CP but they can't do anything as they still have a waiting list they're working their way through.

Do you know how old she is and how she is with other cats / dogs etc
Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: JackSpratt on November 08, 2009, 12:02:10 PM
I think she's approximately 2/3 years. Apparently she's OK with other cats but they don't know about dogs.
Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: Bazsmum on November 08, 2009, 15:46:37 PM
Depending on the dogs she should be okay....My dog ignore's the cats...well apart from Gigga who he cant ignore cos Gigga loves him!  :Luv2:

I have cats in my house that have never lived or even been near a dog before, if the dog is placid enough etc.... ;)

Post by: JackSpratt on November 08, 2009, 19:27:49 PM
True, and she's not especially old so that "I hate dogs" thing hasn't necessarily ingrained itself yet..... ;)

You would be so suprised in our house JS....Even Blackie the "ROAR!" will even sit next to our Deake and this was a cat who would of had many a run in with living on the streets for 4yrs!

I always feel if you have the right dog then it IS so much easier for the cat!  ;)

She could come down to us as we are relatively empty at present (I know I should never say that should I its asking for trouble) if someone could bring her down (I could meet at Plymouth if needs be) she would be very well cared for and we would be happy to find her a new (homechecked) forever home. PM me if we can be of help.

That's a long journey, but to be honest possibly the best option for Fifi at the moment. Will let you know, and thank you for the offer.

Nope, no progress so far. Unfortunately, people around here don't see the beauty of this little sweetheart. I think bonnielass asked the rescue you've mentioned.

Updating....BL said that the couple liked ALL the cats they saw, and will let her know in a few days. So officially, Fifi is still looking unless the decision comes back that they want to offer her a home.

True. I keep trying to find somewhere but I had to hold back my opinion when someone called asking if I knew of any cats needing somewhere as their friend was looking. I told them about Fifi and they called me back about ten minutes later saying she "didn't want a black one." I knew it wasn't her fault; the girl has two cats of her own - both pure black.

I wish I could be of more help to the little one but unless we can get the sweetie down to Plymouth (where I could meet someone) theres not a lot I can do at present.  :sad no:

Bless you. I feel it's a long journey for a foster home though, not sure what other people think.

As this is increasingly getting more and more urgent this is a direct email address to Fifis current carers: red_hot_n_foxy@yahoo.com

I think so. Will email and confirm they actually put Fifi on the lists. (I know a lot of people are quite deterred when a waiting list is mentioned.)

JS - I've passed on Fifi's info to a friend of mine who's brother is looking for a rescue cat, he's not fussed about age or colour. The only problem I can foresee is that he lives down here so there would be a transport run involved (which I'd be happy to help with) and he would have to be willing to take her without a proper introduction.

The last bit is the part I'm most concerned about but hopefully I'll hear back tomorrow.
Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: JackSpratt on November 18, 2009, 18:01:11 PM
A transport run could be done for a permanent home hopefully.

Does he have other cats? She does sound a love to me, but I'm biased!

Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: JackSpratt on November 22, 2009, 12:12:43 PM
Bramble, as long as it was fairly local I'm sure a foster would be appreciated. Although it has to be said that no official rescue is caring for her so any costs would be the fosterers responsibility. (Unless an agreement was met by her current people.)

The reason I'm told she's being rehomed is a severe allergic reaction so I would think they'd be grateful of any help.

do you know where they are in derbys as we also live in derbys. if we were to foster her, would she still be advertised on purrs and catchat to try and get her rehomed? how would this work if there are no rescues involved? is she on any waiting lists? bramble
Title: Re: Young female needing a new home - Derbyshire URGENT
Post by: JackSpratt on November 22, 2009, 14:26:19 PM
Having fostered myself without rescue back up in the past purely to ensure a cat isn't being rehomed via dubious means it basically means you're responsible for the cat! I don't know if she's on any waiting lists; I asked but received no response about it.

Have emailed asking again and also asking if the current carer would be prepared to contribute to Fifis care if you fostered her.

Thank you for offering. :)

Bramble, there's already another cat on our Freecycle! If you don't mind incurring costs, then I can contact them and we'll try and organise things. He's a male tuxedo; around one year old and the people have put him on Freecycle because they've lost their job and can't afford to care for him any more.

They might have found a home already, but in the current climate I doubt it.
