Title: Lost Bean near Dursley Gloucestershire
Post by: freddie on October 04, 2009, 18:39:51 PM
Hello

I join the missing cat register and a very kind person sent me pointers, on how to go about finding Bean, also she led me to this site, among others, so I would like to say thank you.  It is such a shame that it has taken the loss of my boy to be here with you today.
Here is my lovely boy Bean who went missing last Wednesday.  :(

Forgot to say it would be best if you could put in the title what area you are in!  ;)

:welcome: to Purrs and sorry that Bean is missing

Baz is right, you need to modify your first post and put the area in the title and she took the thoughts out of my head about Sam  ;D

Bean looks lovely and hope he comes home very soon

Thank you for your welcomes

Yes it was a Sam!  We live near Dursley and we have had Bean since a kitten, he is 5 years old now.  Bean has never gone missing before, so we are really worried. Today I pinned up posters around the area, infact I think we have done most things that have been suggested. We are surrounded by fields and woods, so tomorrow I will give the house a good hoover and scatter that around, that I thought was a great tip.

Ive used the contents from hoover tip before...I walked out to the furthest point in my search then whilst walking back home I spread a trail leading back to the house! Best of luck!

Thank you

It's so hard, it's the not knowing, I am so worried as he was such a creature of habit, even down to his bedtime!

Well I've emptied the contents of my hoover but think I will have to vacuum a little more tomorrow, as I only managed a small area of the wood nearby. I've put a couple more posters up and an ad will be in the paper on Thursday.

Hi and  :welcome: to Purrs,

I see people are talking about me ...  so that's why my ears are burning  ;)  I so sorry that Bean is still missing but please don't give up on him.

I'm glad you are finding the hints and tips useful ... posters, posters, posters is the main thing.  Also, as the weather has been quite nice recently there is a strong chance your little lad may have got himself shut in a shed when people have been out in the garden.

I am sending lots and lots of "come home soon" vibes to Bean as I know how awful it is when a furbabe is missing

Sam =^..^=

I wish I had found this site when I had both my boys, we lost Freddie a year ago due to kidney probs. I would have loved to join in with all the cat chats but it doesn't seem right at the momement, maybe once Bean has returned home!

Thanks Jayne Beans and me need all the luck we can get

We've had a couple of cats safely home after about three months recently, so keep looking for Bean and keep positive.

Thank you Bazsmum, will let you all know if and when I get news of Bean.

Thanks Sam, I am trying so hard not to give up but it is so hard, in the five years on him owning us, he has never wondered off before, it is so heart breaking isn't, the thought of my little chap out in the cold lost or trapped somewhere.    :'(

Thanks Christine

They key seems to be posters and flyers through doors and be persistant

Cats can roam a long way, try and get something into a local paper in case he hitched a lift, do you have a school near by or any clubs that meet regulairly, if so a poster on their notice boards...any thing for loads of publicity

Hi Gill

I've got ads in two local papers, put posters in "local" shop, vet and recycling tip also put posters around all dog walking areas, have called in to all the houses in our surrounding area only four of them had ever seen our cat, in fact I have only ever met five of these households before and I have lived here near 10 years! We seem to live in no mans land. I have branched out with posters, about 5 mile radius and have made calls to cats protection where Bean came from and two rescue places.  I go out every evening calling and tapping his dish but only from the garden and in the day go into the woods and field looking and calling him. We have a Patterdale who also misses him and we keep sending him off to look for him, in all the hedgerows.

Yes thats Bean and Geoge our Patterdale terrier, they had such fun together. Bean was the dominant one and chased George around the garden it was so funny to watch, I didn't get many shots of them doing this, as they were much to fast for me. George is still trying to find Bean and sometimes sleeps in Beans basket.

Aw bless, we always seem to forget that our furry friends worry too!  :(

Do you take Geoge (Did you mean George?) when you search for Bean? I only ask cos on a couple of occasions when mine have gone astray my dog, although gets on really well with my lot would be more of a hindrance in the search! Bean would be scared of him out in the wild at this stage also!  ;)

Sorry Yes I did mean George. We've take him in the woods and fields adjoining us, to see if he could pick up a scent and to get to places where we were unable to, I see what you mean, yes I think Bean would be scared, it just knowing what to do for the best, now that we've had rain I expect the scent will have gone now though. I call from the garden and that carries around valley and tap his dish, so he would hear me if he was around.
We had a call about a black cat seen way down in the village, on a gravel drive, I raced there and knocked on the door only to find out the people owned two black cats :(. Will keep looking.
