Title: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Shirley on June 18, 2009, 14:49:29 PM
Charlie was born 6 years ago in the factory where i worked in Willenhall, As i was being made redundant, i had to find him a new home. Unfortunately, he could not settle without his mommy and, when i FINALLY caught her, she was found to have leukemia and a tumour in her stomach! I was devastated. I knew he would've been ok with his mommy there, and she was such a sweet little thing.
He is a beautiful cat, but nervous with strangers (and the other 110 cats in the feral paddock at Cramar!)
If anyone sees him, please ring Cramar on 0121 445 1840

:welcome: to Purrs sap, sorry it's under such sad circumstances

Have everything crossed that Charlie finds his way back, how long had he been there?

Hi Helen, your name rings a bell. Are you on Catchat?

Charlie had been there since 30th March, and had  already escaped before this time. I was led to believe he'd only been out a day-but 2 of the staff said he's been gone 2 weeks! (i wasn't allowed to see him for a month 'to let him settle' i was told, but maybe the truth was he wasn't there and they knew i'd worry. i might be going over tomorrow-the manager is back from her hols now, so i'll find out for sure. He's been gone 3 weeks today now.

If his poor mommy had made it, i know he would've been fine-they were so close.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Yes, I'm Tiggy's Mum on CatChat too but don't get to spend much time on there as this place is too addictive!  :)

Poor Charlie has been missing a while then  :( I know you must be deperately worried about him but if he is used to living at your old workplace he will have more survival skills than your average moggie, how far is Cramar from your old workplace - is there a chance he could be trying to make his way back there?

I've sometimes thought that myself, but it's 20 miles away and i took him over in a lorry, so he'd have no scent to follow would he? Even so, i've been back to work and asked people to keep a look out for him and even emailed the local paper the other day, but had no response..........

Are those your furballs on the post Helen? Sooooooooooo gorgeous!

:scared:  He's still missing, tho someone has found a grey cat that is his DOUBLE! He has been reunited with his 'owners' but believed not to be chipped. The only problem is the finder said the cat was 'very friendly' and i can't see my little one being like that. Apparantly he also has striking green eyes-i can't remember if it was him or mommy cat that had those eyes! I've emailed the finder, waiting on a reply.

Thanks to you both. Didn't get a reply from finder but saw the one she found and grey baby's pic on MyMoggy.com and my lad's ears are smaller. The likeness was amazing tho!
I'm off to Cramar later. Janet (Cramar manager) has made me some flyers to push through letterboxes. (Don't think there's many houses tho' it's very rural around there, but we'll see)

Thanks! Things have moved on a bit since my last post! I had a call from Janet at Cramar about 8.40 to tell me there was a message on the answer phone saying there was a grey  cat in her garden and had been there a couple of days (the call was as a result of the flyers) She rang back about 45 mins later to say she'd taken a trap round and put it in the kids wendy house where they (there are 3!!)have been going. The lady had given them some pilchards last night cos she felt sorry for them awwww! They come early evening, so hopefully, tonights the night! He is so dopey, (but gorgeous) and has been in a trap a few times, so i don't think he'll be put off!      :Party 3:       :happy dance:       :crossed:

:(      Hi Bazsmum, no news i'm afraid. I spoke to Janet last Friday and she suggested me coming over tomorrow to go with her to the house and whistle for him (he's always answered to that, bless him!) She was off yesterday and today and one of them (her or hubby) will have to take me, can't just go on my own, cos it's someone's house!
It seems as though he (if it IS him) is happy being free, with a pal to hunt and play with. I could handle that at the moment, but it's when he gets older and gets one of the horrible diseases cats get, that worries me!

Thanks for asking x

This weather is perfect hunting condition for a cat, will be such fun for him, and as you say its just what would poss happen in the future!  :(

I still have hope though Shirley so "chin up" and continue doing what you are doing and Im sure all will work out for the best!  :Luv:

Post by: Shirley on July 15, 2009, 19:30:03 PM
Just a quick update. I went to the house yesterday and had a 'whistle' but no response, but the fields around there stretch for miles apparantly! I spoke to the owner and showed her his photo and she's sure it's him!!!! She told me if he came last night, she would try 'the whistle'
Had a call from Cramar this afternoon! He'd turned up at 7pm last night, the lady whistled and he came from the top end of the garden to the kitchen door!!!! He wouldn't let her touch him tho'
She seems to like him and wants a cat, but is worried how he'd be with her children. Janet told her you don't know how any cat or kitten will be with kids!
The lady is going to note the times he comes and wants me to go over one evening to confirm it's him.
He's not a nasty cat at all, he was just scared of so many cats at the sanctuary.
The lady is playing it by ear for now.................................................!

Bazmum, get those dancing shoes out-IT'S HIM!!!!!!!!!
He turned up about 20 minutes after i'd got there and came straight to me for fuss, head butts, leg rubbing, 'kneading' the floor and jumping up on his back legs. It was wonderful!
He was nervous with Penny there, tho-everytime she moved, he'd move away, but not far, and he was rolling on the floor, so seemed quite happy!
I stayed about 45 minutes and i think he was ready for his daily excursion then! I felt guilty when i left him and i just hope she'll let me visit again.Yaaaaahay!!!

Thanks Sheryl and Dawn-i've found him and he seems fine, no broken bones anyway, the way he shot up the drive of Penny's house! I climbed over the fence at the back of her garden and he was under a tree/bush. He came for fuss and was jumping up and kneading the floor. He has a small mark about half an inch under his eye. I tried to grab him to put him in a crush cage i'd had from Cramar's vets, but he escaped. He wouldn't come to me after that, but did follow me back into the garden. Janet thinks i should definately have him now and i think i'm going to have to try and hope my Ollie will be ok! Penny agrees!
Only have to trap him now........................................

Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Shirley on July 29, 2009, 17:58:27 PM
I think you may be right, Trigger lol!

I've always wanted to have him, and if i hadn't got my Ollie, i woud have. I'm just so scared that him and GB won't get on and one will get spooked and run away. Although, on Catchat, a lady i email has 5 cats and a semi feral since Feb, and things are ok there.

15 cats!!!!!!! OMG and i'm worried about having 2!!! Ollie is my first cat so i'm not very experienced, but i think i'm going to have a go, after all, there's no alternative-he'd escape from Cramar again and if he stayes at Penny's, there's still the dual carriageway to worry about. If he gets caught, Janet had suggested keeping him confined in their 'halfway house' as i call it-the stage before they actually go into the paddock-which would make it easier to confine him in my house!

He's got to be trapped yet.................................................                                            :givein:

One of mine is an ex feral Shirley, not even semi!  :shify:  He has coped so well and I have had him 3 yrs this yr!

If you have a spare room or at least one you could keep him in that your other cat does not go into that would be a good (half-way-house) for him!  ;)

Tosker has been here more than 8 weeks now, Shirley, and has been back for food every single night - and is now gradually accepting what else I can offer apart from food

so I don't think he will have to be either wholly in or wholly out as long as he knows which side his bread is buttered
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Shirley on July 29, 2009, 20:00:46 PM
Gill, i've known him since he was a baby and he's nearly 6.1/2 years old now, so he knows me pretty well!

I live in a bungalow and Ollie goes where he wants-don't they all lol. I have a spare bedroom which could be for GB but it seems to be Ollie's favourite place the last few weeks  i.e.on top of the folded up duvet, which desperately needs a wash now, but i haven't got the heart to do it!!!

He's lived outside since he was born in the factory, so how can he cope with being locked in?
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on July 29, 2009, 20:08:47 PM
I dont think he can cope being locked in and reckon that he will have to be allowed to roam but know where to come for his food and comfort when he wants.

This is Sasa really but she likes her comforts far more than being outside all the time.

I have an old plastic greenhouse at the bottom of the garden and found that she had found a way in there LOL.

She goes out every night hunting and have seen her a few houses up the road sitting at the back but she always comes back to sleep eventually and she knows this is her home.

However when I tried to shut the flap at night she broke through and stayed away for a week........Misa knew where she was and eventually brought her home.

I think you need a shelter for him in your garden where you start feeding him at regular times, probably decided by him LOL, gradually bring the food closer to the house until he comes in to eat. Make sure he has a bed inside for when he wants..........I am assumiong you have a flap.

This is what Trigger is doing with Tosker and Tosker is now sleeping in a shelter every night but this has taken 8 weeks of pateince after he ran away as soon as she got him.

I meant being locked in for a few weeks-isn't that the way to do it?

I haven't got a flap in the house-rented-but i'd just bought one for Ollie for the shed he can go in when it's raining.  I always left the door ajar, but the torrential rain a few weeks ago ruined the carpet in there, so i put some new and the same thing happened a couple of days later!!! I've got no-one to fit it at the mo!

Sometimes we think we should but this lot are all ours and we have about 8 - 10 living outside some have been here for a couple of years and others are dumpees that we try to trap and get cleaned up and homed on where possible

We do live in the country and share our large house with the Clan - there are only me and Robin in the human form in a 7 bedroomed house!  We moved here for the animals and have amortgage to match - they have a 1.5 acre garden, a 3 acre paddock woods on 2 sides, a stream meandering past the front door and a single track a mile off a B Road and only one other neighbour shares the track and they have cats and dogs to - just not as many as us!!!!!!

Did he walk 20 miles from you to there or was he taken................if he was taken and used to live near you, then it wont be a problem

OMG Shirely, I've only just cuaght up on all the "excitement" on here and CC.  Poor baby .. so pleased he is OK and great news that you are going to give him a home.  He has definitely chosen you ... cats are very intuitive and insticively know "good" people when they see them ... they also know which of the "good" people they want to live with!

Keeping everything crossed that you will have him home soon xxx

OMG Liz, what a wonderful home you have, it sounds like heaven! With all those rooms you could take in a lodger,i.e. me and my Ollie, with a gorgeous semi feral, you wouldn't even notice us lol.

Gill, i took him to Cramar when i knew i was being made redundant, and couldn't just leave him I EVENTUALLY caught his mommy-19 days after i'd left!- but she was found to have leukemia and a tumour, so was pts.I was devastated cos they were so close and i know he would've settled in the paddocks with her there. (All the frustrations and heartaches are on Catchat on my thread 'Advice needed on factory cats after redundancy (tho' it may have been archived now! ) and in Lost and Found, same title as this, if you fancy a read!!) I live about 4 miles from work.

Sam, i'm actually scared to death now. After a terrible night's sleep (again) i,m wondering if i can do it. I'm so worried it will spoil the relationship between me and Ollie. Also, finances, or lack of them. Once my redundancy money has gone, i'll be living on £64.30 a week dole money. How can i keep myself and one cat on that, never mind two! I love grey baby to bits, but i wish there was another option for him. I feel so bad now.

So sorry this is being an awful dilemma for you Shirley, I wonder if you would be able to foster him for Cramar Rescue? That way hopefully the food and vets would possibly be covered?  ;)

Just a thought!  :)

Hi Bazsmum, apart from the financial worries, it's the thought of keeping him locked up in a room for weeks. He's always had his freedom. One day my boss (stupid man ) brought him into the office and he literally, ran round the walls!! Although Janet has suggested keeping him at Cramar for a while in 'the halfway house' so he's used to being confined. As for fostering him, i would feel guilty taking the money, as they have so many cats to look after.
God, my head feels as though it's splitting in two!

Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on July 30, 2009, 13:49:34 PM
Locking him up would drive him crazy and think he just needs to come back to the place he knows and then be tempted closer and closer.

I think you would be able to look after him very well on an outdoor basis for a while, gradually letting him come in at his own pace

and Ollie will get used to him being around without having him in his face

it's working beautifully for me
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Shirley on July 30, 2009, 14:20:41 PM
I'd love to be able to after him on an outdoor basis, but he doesn't know this area so he'd just disappear the first time he was bought here, wouldn't he? Ollie's having problems with a cat that walks along 'his' fence at the moment, so even if he was here, i think he'd scare him off.
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Bazsmum on July 30, 2009, 14:25:21 PM
Yes unfortunately he would have to stay inside for atleast 4-6 wks so that obviously would be a problem for him!

Sometimes you just have to be cruel to be kind and I think that Cramar will have to go back to basics with him...This must be so heart-wrenching for you Shirley and I do feel for you hun!  :care: :grouphug:

Whether he would be an indoor/outdoor pet or a garden cat he would need to be confined initially as he doesnt know the area. Any ferals that are rehomed are given the same, they have to know where their base is and where food is, sadly not all of them are as smart as tosker not to peg it for miles.I wouldnt take that risk with him Shirley

Thanks for the comments. It does feel as though my heart's being ripped out at the moment. I have to try and calm myself down or i'll make myself ill (i have a brain tumour and epilepsy)
I think i'll wait until he has been caught and have a good chat with Janet to see if we can work something out.

Hi Shirley,

so sorry, just caught up with your dilemma, would he not be safe outside in your garden with a kennel where you could just keep an eye on him and feed him etc.  I think he would probably just be happier unfettered, sorry to hear about your other problems too
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Shirley on July 30, 2009, 17:03:44 PM
Hi Janeyk.   I live in rented property with only half of the garden with a 6' fence (which is no problem for a cat anyway!) I've had my Ollie about 6 years and only moved a few doors away from where i had him and he never wanders off.

Hi Dawn, i'm on meds for the epilepsy but have scans for the tumour. I've known about both for just over 7 years, (on the anniversary of my Dad's death, who also had a brain tumour!) caused by an RTA i had 35 years ago!! It is a benign tumour but can start growing at anytime, thankfully not yet, so, while it doesn't affect me, surgery isn't an option cos of all the problems that can result from it.!

Shirley we adopted 3 ferals from a farm  14 months ago we were their last resort as the rest of their colony had been poisoned and we said we would take them - they are older - Miss Cissy is about 15 and her 2 kittens Smudger and Ragamuffin are now nearly 9 - they have adapted to inside only life - my choice and have done it with gusto they all let us touch them now as long as we have food in the other hand

We also have Ace who I trapped 4 years ago apart from drugging him to move him we haven't had fur contact since - he loves the digs and is a real colony cat so loves the cat company but if you try to touch him he comes at you clawes and all and I'm not doing that again!

We also have Blue a grey feral boy we trapped last September - he is about 2 and had lived all his life outside but after some major surgery we were advised to keep him in for a week then release - my dear Husband opened his pen after 3 days and he has been a member of the inside Clan since he has adapted beautifully and now has a few friends with the clan but isn't keen on us humans umless we have roast beeef!

They can and do adapat to inside life but you have to let them come on at their own pace = and sometimes it takes several years but the end result is always worth the wait and you seem to love this boy so give him a chance

He's been ignoring the traps, so i'm using the large cat carrier i caught mommy cat in. Fingers crossed! For the time being (if i catch him) he will go back to Cramar-unless one of you on here would like to adopt him!

He is a very handsome cat, I do hope the confinement will be easier for him to handle this time!  :Luv:

Hi, went to see him today (3.1/2 hours-they must me SO fed up with me now!) and he was great! he came out of the 'bedroom' as he heard my voice and had lots of fuss. Later on, he let 2 of the assistants fuss him as well!!! Yaaaaaaah!!!! He walked away from me and lay in the sunshine, went back into the 'bedroom' and lay in, not behind, a bed and used the litter tray!!!!! He seem so relaxed this time, the only problem being a grumpy cat called Abbie, who growled at him (and the others )everytime she saw him, so that's not very helpful! I felt happier when i left him today, and i wish i could go every day, but a 40 mile round trip when you're on the dole is not good!
Someone had tried to ring the lady in the cul de sac, but got no reply, maybe on holiday? It's not saying she'd want him, but it's worth asking the question.

Hi Bazsmum, yes i did see him yesterday and he was lovely again! He was fussy and relaxed, except when Abbie was growling at him!! He was nervous around my friend, Paul, but, by the end of the visit, he was letting HIM fuss him! Janet told me that on Saturday, her husband went to stroke him and he rolled onto his back and let him tickle his belly!!!I'VE never done that, it's amazing! If i didn't know better, i would say it's a different cat LOL.
Regarding rehoming, i'll wait to see if Janet manages to get in touch with the lady in the cul de sac first, but whether or not she does, she says he WILL be rehomed and not go into the paddocks Yaaaah!
Here's some pics from yesterday!

Yes hang fire till they here of the lady in the cul-de-sac....Im sure his future prospects on the rehoming front are a lot more promising now!  :Luv2:

I certainly reckon that his adventure was a truley scary one for him and he has realised where his bread is buttered! You have a lot to be proud of you know, cos you gave him the confidence that he is showing today!  ;D :Luv:

Awww thanks for that! He'd always been our baby at work, i couldn't just leave him there when i left-i worry about him now if i don't see him for a DAY!!

I had a thought last night and am expecting the men in white coats any minute-what if he escaped to look for his mommy cos they were always together (except when he disappeared a few times!) and realised he wasn't going to find her, so gave up. Am i mad or what!!!

Good morning!

Yes, they have been in touch with 'the cul de sac' lady and she was going to see him this week! I was there on Tuesday when i was told and Janet will let me know how the 'meeting' goes!

He was fussy again, even with Paul, but a bit nervous , i thought-maybe Abbie had upset him again!

He's been offered a home on Catchat by someone with the perfect home-no roads, just fields, trees and a stream and SEVEN cats! The only problem is, she lives in Hampshire-a bit far to do a home check lol I think, actually, he'd be better with just a couple of cats at the most-he was ok at Penny's with another 2, but anymore makes him nervous.

I want to go today, but i've been 4 times in less than a week and i've put £25 petrol in,and it's now in the red again! Oh, what the hell, he might not be there much longer, i'll go!

Over £25 in petrol....what are you like!!! You are so right in your line of thinking though as he does sound like he's gonna be in his forever home very soon!  ;)

Give him a chin rub (or belly if he is in the mood) from me and mine, have a good one Shirley!  :Luv:

He looks very chilled in that pic...he's so handsome too!  :Luv2:

Post by: Shirley on August 13, 2009, 18:17:34 PM
Hi, went to see the little sweetheart today-he wanted his usual lot of fuss from me and a bit from Paul, but was then happy enough to lie on the mat watching the world go by, even with me still in the pen! There was a man mowing the grass with a petrol mower just outside-i thought he would hide in the 'bedroom' but he stayed put! He's come on brilliantlly since he's been back there! I can't say that he's a lap cat yet, but he's come so far from the timid little lad i took to Cramar 5.1/2 months ago-even Penny who was feeding him couldn't get near him! He's still jumpy at times, but he's letting more people touch him now.
The cul de sac lady is going to see him tomorrow! Let's hope he's on his best behaviour and he makes himself irresistable-especially with open day on the 23rd-he could do with being away before then!

(Sounds like he's not confined to one room-yipeee!) He's eating and using his litter tray! Looking good so far, thank God!
It's the Open Day on Sunday, so i'll be there (and tomorrow) so i hope i can get some more info then. Better still, if they're there, maybe someone will point them out and i can get it from the horses mouth! Thanks for that Bazsmum and Sheryl-i hope he will. I sooooooooo want to see him and know for myself he's happy and settled, although it is early days, i know. I just feel he would settle quicker if he saw me, like he did when i caught him the week before he was rehomed, and he was letting other people at the Sanctuary  fuss him. That had never happened before, except once, when i was there, he let one of the assistants stroke him-once in 6 years!!!!!! I'll just have to be patient i suppose, but that has never been my strongest point lol!

I too hate the waiting game Shirley!  :tired: but as you know its best to wait... you have waited this long hun!  ;)

It would only cause extra confusion for him to see you at this delicate stage in his homing.... Im sure its all going okay and I bet if you could peek into their house you would be so proud of your little man....

Is it this Fri or Sat thats the 2 week trial over or are the rescue not to specific at what time a trial lasts?  :shify:

I wasn't told how long the trial was-would think it would be more than 2 weeks anyway. I would imagine they'll keep him cos they are experienced with hard to rehome cats and they like him!!!
I just thought it would be nice for him to see a familiar face, but, then again, i'm no expert!

I can understand how eager you are to see him but as Bazsmum says it may confuse him at the moment and it may be better to wait until he is settled and knows that he is now in his "forever home" Im sure you will feel better when you actually hear from his new human slaves that he is doing okay.

Thanks for your concern! Normally, i get a message to say someone's posted on here, but i didn't! I've been really busy yesterday and today, trying to push the petition about kittens on Petstreet-i've put the link on individual people's walls!
I rang Janet this afternoon and she told me he'd done his vanishing act again! She can't get through on the phone to speak to Mr & Mrs CDS, so she's going to the house tomorrow to see if there's any sightings of him, and then, i'll have to do my whistling again! It's amazing how he got out-she'd got the window open slightly and he nudged the latch up until he opened the window-and i always thought he was dim!
As i said on CC, i'm not too worried  at the moment cos i know he can look after himself and at least there' s no busy road this time, just woods behind the house. When we get him back, Mrs CDS will have to make her home a fortress!

perhaps he can't be happy in a house which is a fortress though, Shirley

could it be that he needs a home where he can come and go as he wishes? perhaps he'll  hang around if the new owners put food out for him regularly, and provide some outside shelter for him

then he   can be domesticated by degrees, at his own pace

From what i was told, it seemed he had the run of the house, Trigger. The last Janet heard, they were leaving food out for him. Maybe that would be a better plan for him, as you suggested. Hopefully Janet will see them tomorrow and get more info and, when i meet them, i'll suggest that.

Dont worry Shirley hun... My concern was how GB and you must be feeling right now!  ;) I do hope that he has'nt gone too far (maybe heading back to Cramar?) If not then it looks like that special whistle of yours just may be of use yet again! Best of luck!  :Luv:

Thanks Bazsmum. Looks like i've gone back to how i was when he escaped before i.e waking up in the night-lots-to find i've been dreaming about him and Cramar! It's just as well i still haven't got a job-i wouldn't be able to function! Don't know what to think about where he might be headed-the last time he went he was ,literally, across the road from Cramar at Penny's, but i don't know where the CDS's live at the moment. i'm hoping to get a call from Janet today, once she's been to the house.

Had a call from Janet-she'd been to the house, but GB hasn't been seen. They are leaving food out , which is being eaten, but could be anything ,and Mr CDS is going out at night whistling.
There was progress before he escaped-he'd come down to a lower level from the bookcase, and even sat on a cushion on the windowsill, being fussed, and was responding to whistlig inside. He wants to wait until Friday to see what happens, before i go over there!

I really do hope GB is eating the food Shirley.... He has proved to be rather elusive has your boy!

Im glad that CDS are using the whistling tactic.... but is it your tune?  :sneaky:

Its a pity that they cant install a cat flap as that way he may of came and gone of his own accord, probably would not of felt so imprisoned then? Mind you he would probably have to be taught how to use it!

Im keeping my spirits up on this one as Im sure he is just hiding out, but Im sure just a little nod from the right direction knowing he has at least been sighted would keep your wits stable!  :Luv:

Thinking of you both.... When this is well and truly sorted I think we can make a comedy of it!  :evillaugh: :Luv:

I would bet it is him eating the food. When he escaped from Cramar,he'd been missing 5 weeks and he  was literally, across the road. Something Janet told me today which i forgot to mention-she was told years ago that, when a cat runs away , he'll gradually come closer and closer to where he ran from!  Here's hoping!

Also, they have got a cat flap, but was set to 'in' only. Janet wants them to lock it, cos she's seen cats barge through one!

I still think Trigger's way is a good one, but i've got no say in it now. If i meet the CDS's i will sugges that, tho Janet doesn't want to know-she wants him inside for winter
Title: Re: Missing grey semi feral cat from Cramar cat rescue FOUND
Post by: Bazsmum on August 29, 2009, 21:15:22 PM
Even when my cat flap is on "in" only I have a couple of cats who will scratch at it to open it in over!  :sneaky:  :tired:

I can see Janet's point, and in a perfect world etc.... But realistically he does seem to be making a point of not wanting to stay indoors! As he is semi feral I do think that in time it would work but at his pace... He would be working his way in over in a sense! I agree that Trigger's one is a good one and has worked brilliantly with Tosker.... He has gone from the same way, slowly coming closer then amazingly in of his own accord!  ;)

Good luck on the whistling front Shirley... I wonder if  :crossed: he is found would he be going back to Cramar? I wonder if that would actually be the best move as he seems more sure of himself there....

I did feel that his trial was a bit quick after what he had been through!?  ;)

It would be ideal if the CdS peeps could get to know him better at his pace thats all!  :sneaky:

Hi Bazsmum-we've got to find him first!!!

"I did feel that his trial was a bit quick after what he had been through!?" I don't understand what you mean by that-but i am a bit thick sometimes lol!

I think, after reading about Tosker, this would be ideal  way for GB, as he was getting used to other people, apart from me, stroking him and the cds's home sounds perfect for him, with the woods and no roads!

I think he would still be scared at Cramar because there are just so many cats.

Ah! I did'nt realise how perfect the CdS situation is.... When I think of a CdS I think of a little group of houses with no through road... Still surrounded by houses etc....  :shy: Probably comes with living up North!  :innocent:

It was late and I was tired and now I see that he really does have a perfect situation with no other cats to contend with.... Wish he could take a leaf out of Tosker's book!  ;)

Good luck again for your forth coming mission....

Thanks Shery! Janet rang to see if i could go over today, so we went for a whistle at the back of CDS's house-lots of trees and bushes-whistled myself dry, but no sign    :(

Next time we will take fliers and posters-it worked last time!

Hi, thanks for asking, but no news, really. The new owner spoke to Janet on Sat and said they hadn't seen him, but the food was still being eaten, tho for a couple of days it wasn't. She said a neighbour's cat plays in the woods a bit further up than we'd been, so we'll try there next time-he might have found a pal! Problem is, i'd never find the place without Janet (no sat nav) and she's on holiday from Thurs, but she does want to have a whistle before she finishes! Should have the fliers and posters to take with us! Fingers crossed!      :catplay2:

Got another problem now-a cat hanging round the street where my 'friend's' parents live for the last couple of months, turned up on Sat with 2 kittens, running about.................................................She rang the RSPCA who told her 'as long as mom is feeding them, they'll be ok' What about when she stops feeding them and comes into season? I rang the local CP tonight and they have taken her  address and phone number. She'd only just got from work, so i didn't want to push too much!

this must be so frustrating for you, Shirley - the new owners really need to find out if it is definitely GB who is eating the food - if it is they can then hatch a plan to gradually bring him in

I used to sit out in the garden for ages waiting for Tosker to come for his food, and he was no more or less my responsibility than GB is theirs

I'd be the same, but to be fair, i don't know whether they ARE doing that cos i've not spoken to them myself Hopefully janet will give them my number before she goes away!
How's Tosker doing?

apart from not wanting me to touch him, Tosker is totally committed to his new domesticated existence

let's hope GB will be the same one day

Shirley if its any consolation we have 20 like that in the Clan cats all feral in various ranges from nasty to nealry nice - they all love the digs, food and the dogs its us humans who keep them to the manner they have become accustomed I mean Prawns and cat milk so readily available in the wild!

You wont believe the ammount of times I have been outside looking for my cat or waiting or basically whatever it takes! It could be anything eating that food.....Even Hedgies like cat food!

But like you say you dont know if they are not doing that....but then if they were wouldnt they know what is eating the food!  :sneaky:

Best of luck hun with your ongoing saga with darling GB....Hope the posters/fliers do the trick!  ;)

Went with Janet yesterday to have a 'whistle' on her last day before her holiday. No sign of him    :(   We put up a few posters and she left the CDS's a note with my phone number, just i case! I've got the post code now so, hopefully, i can go over on my own to have another look next week. It's really like looking for a needle in a haystack tho'-there's such a vast area of trees/bushes and you can't get anywhere near the back of the houses to see if he's in any of the gardens. It's SO frustrating!     :grrrrrr:

Not good!  :(

Maybe you could get a loan of a trap and get the CD's to put it out there back and find out for sure who is eating it!  ;)

There should be plenty of places online to get directions....I wish you luck Shirley....This must be really churning your stomach bless!

Hi bazsmum-he won't go in the trap if i go one-there was one at Penny's for about 2 weeks, but he wouldn't go near the thing! Today, tho' i had a surprise-Mr CDS rang me!!! He'd just seen a grey cat on a grassed area and, when he whistled, he turned round, but then went back to hunting in the bush! He didn't want to get too close incase it spooked him, as the area is close to a busy road!!! I decided to go over-big mistake, Friday afternoon traffic-but managed to find my way to the house. Had a walk and a whistle, but decided to knock the door. So now i've met the CDS's!! Nice people and i asked them to point me in the direction of the area, but he took me! Spent about half an hour there, but no joy! He said he'll not give up and check every couple of hours, and keep me posted!
I'll go again in the week and try again!
