Title: Female Bengal seeking new home - Derbyshire (REHOMED)
Post by: JackSpratt on April 03, 2009, 21:06:03 PM
Bit vague on the details and waiting on a picture. An old schoolfriend has asked me to see if I know of anyone who could offer a home to her brothers cat, Bridgett.

Basically there has been a relationship break up and neither person feels they can offer Bridgett what she needs. She's a two year old pedigree Bengal who has shared her home with other cats, dogs and is child friendly. She loves attention and loves to play. (She sounds wonderful!)

It's a terribly sad situation that noone is particularly happy about, but I said I'd start asking around.

Thanks Janey - the old schoolfriend in question said if he had no luck rehoming her soon then he'd be taking her to the RSPCA or CP. I said I didn't trust the RSPCA (sorry, anyone who likes them!) and that our CP has a massive waiting list; so he wouldn't be able to just hand her over straight away anyway.

Are there any Ped rescues they could contact?

None that I can think of locally. I could be wrong, but they tend to be quite a way from Derbyshire as far as I can tell.

That's a great offer Beth, but it's a distance for a temporary home. I will bear it in mind, though.

there's still a permanent vacancy here, but I'm even further away - which probably accounts for why when I offer a home no-one seems interested :'(

Bless you. I don't think it's that people aren't interested; organising transport is a pretty difficult task the majority of the time.

Have they contacted her breeder?
The way i understand ped rescue to work is that many help country wide as they use foster homes dotted around the place, its really worth your while contacting them as you may strike lucky and they will have people adopting who will understand what they are taking on.
They should also get on cp waiting list if thats the way they want to go, no point leaving it last minute  :tired:

I am in the Derby/Derbyshire area and can offer a place to Bridgett. My rescue is run from my large 3 bedroom home so she will not be confined to a pen while awaiting a new forever home. She will also have other felines and lots of toys to play with to pass the time and get personal attention. We have transport so can pick her up. We recently rehomed a 6yr old half Bengal female who was not with us long before being rehomed as is the case with most of our cats looking for new homes. I have included a picture of the lovely Jasmine who her new owners wanted to call Lady Jasmine bless. Please let me know if i can be of any help for this little lady.

Hi Js,

If you think that she would be happy in rural South Derbyshire then there is a home here for her. Some Bengals can be a bit territorial, but she sounds like she is pretty easy going. Do you think she would fit in with 4 of my own, 2 dogs, 2 rabbits and cat fosters?! Oh and don't forget the teenage son and his drum kits and electric guitar.

But if her owner thinks that she might get stressed though with all the comings and goings then she might be better off somewhere a bit quiter.

Have they contacted her breeder?

Have asked that and am waiting to hear back. ;) Thanks for the offers and I'll let you know what her current humans think.

A happy ending of sorts. A family member of my old schoolfriend lost their cat recently and when contacted were more than happy to offer Bridgett a home.
