Title: When is a cat officially missing?
Post by: Sootyca on March 02, 2009, 08:02:49 AM
My darliing Lilly went out last night and hasn't come home.   She loves the outdoors but always comes in for supper at 10(ish) but didn't show up last night.  Fortunately she is chipped so if anyone does take her to a vet then we can be traced.  She's neutered as well so shouldn't be off looking for fun.

I've done the ususal things like driving the neighbourhood to see if there is any sign of injured cat on road, walked round calling her and this morning have gone down to the field at the bottom of the road but it's like she never existed.

I'm getting together a list of vets to ring when they open and also the Council's cleansing department (just in case).  Then going door-knocking to see if anyone has taken her in overnight.

I am trying to stay positive and hope that she will come back but I just have this horrible feeling that she won't be comng home.

Karen please stay positive and keep looking - get posters up in nearby shops, churches, telephone boxes, post boxes etc. I searched every day for 7 months for my Smudge.

Good luck and fingers crossed.

Loads of hints and tips here hun:

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,305.0.html

As Mary says ... it's best to get your posters out ASAP.

Good luck and stay positive.  Keeping everything crossed that Lilly will be home soon

BTW ... In my opinion a cat is officially missing when they don't come home at their usual time and definiately after 1 night.

There are some very good tips on Purrs to help find her and I am sure she will turn up soon - could she have got herself shut in somewhere?

Karen,

Go out at night and look - don't be shy about calling her name at 3am! I went through the same thing last Tuesday when Izzy didn't come home. She is always back by 4pm and by 10pm I was ill with worry. The best advice I received was to go out at night as you have more chance of hearing her. Talk to neighbours too. Search aggressively for your wee one.

I eventually found Izzy 23 hours later: she was lost and frightened. She's grounded now!

Here's the link from my thread when madam decided to get herself lost..  http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,22851.0.html (http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,22851.0.html)

Thinking positive thoughts.

Oh hunnie I am sorry you re going through this as I know how you feel as I have also - I cannot stress enough how important it is to leflet and re leaflet and re leaflet again, its what brought our Poppy back to us, it was the 3rd lot of leaflets to the same place that were finally seen and what led us to our furbaby.   Keep leafleting hunnie and I hope you are reunited soon x

Thanks guys. There's no sign of her still but couldn't take the morning off work to look go door-knocking. I've rung all the vets, the council and RSPCA and no sign of her anywhere.  Preparing some leaflets now and going out this afternoon and hoping that that will generate some news.

Many years ago Sofa went missing for 2 days - we think she was shut in a garage or something and she came home looking none the wiser or worse, Bunty went missing for 10 days and we definatley think she was shut in someones garage away on holiday as they way the days fell when she went missing to when she came back would have been someones 10 day holiday - she came back fine but skin and bone, Poppy was found trapped in a mobile holiday home warehouse and we got her back fine so don't give up sweetie x

Just got back from leaflet drop and still no sign. Not many people in though so hopefully when people start coming home and checking places she may show up.  I've gpt another bunch of leaflets to do and drop off later (lady from accross road who we are friendly with says she goes into the next block of houses so will trawl them later.

More news though, another cat went missing from a house close to mine yesterday morning.   :(  The two disappearances could be totally unrelated I know. It's just strange.

Come on Lily............your meowmy is missing you, please come home.

If you dont I will have to do one of my famous roars and you really wouldnt want that would you.

I think going out late at night and calling is the next thing to do and listen carefully for replies.............my tortie just stays hidden and then will appear in the house but she is semi-feral but does know here name and its usually on for a few hours at night but she is a real hunter.

I hope Lily wanders in, could she be shut in somewhere like outbuildings, garages

Karen please don't start putting 2 and 2 together, although I did the same and so have many more Purrs people.  We are good at talking to people but we do things we tell others not ot do.  :Luv2:

Some other cats by me went missing and they were nothing to do with Smudge.

Keep looking and keep shouting and take food out and pray like mad.

Good luck.

I went through the same last year.
My Tilly went missing for a day.

My advice is make friends with your neighbours, try and speak to them personally.
Tilly tuned up 3 doors away, she got in through there disused cat flap and was hiding under a bed, she was terrified, we can only think she was hiding there.

Keep positive leave no stone un turned.

Done yet another trawl round with no joy. I'm soaking, cold, starving as can't face eating and just when I think I'm all cried out I start again!  Here's hoping someone has taken her in.  Printing my next batch of leaflets for another walk round later on.  It's difficult to go to garages as we've all got gardens and any garage is set back into the garden.  Hopefully now it's coming darker she may get brave and come out from wherever she is (though she is normally happy out and about during the day).

C'mon Lilly, come home.  Robbie's beginning to miss her now - he's gone more clingy than ever and just wants to be with me.

Karen

Karen I will put money on the fact that Lilly and this other kitty going missing at the same time is purely coincidence.  You only have to look at the listings on the National pet Register to see how many kitties go missing at the same time in all parts of the country.  Please DO NOT assume anything sinister is going on.

Not sure which part of the country you are in but in Nottingham over the weekend the weather was lovely and mild and I know lots of my neighbours were out in their gardens ... I bet Lilly has been a nosy madam and managed to get herself shut in a shed / garage.  I would knock on all your neighbours doors (10 houses in each direction) and ask them to check their sheds (or better still let you check).

Good luck and fingers crossed she'll be home in time for tea

Still nothing but a lot of goodwill from everyone who has answered the doors.  Didn't take enough leaflets out so got to back - have covered about 70 houses today so hopefully all possible places for her are covered.  A couple of places have a lot of cats around (one has a pond with frogs) so maybe she has moved in there.

I know one thing, I'm knackered and this will do my diet a world of good!  The other cat that went missing is only separated from us by two gardens and we suspect there are some not very cat friendly people around.

Well, off again for the last 7 then that's it for the night - well, other than the late night walk round if she doesn't come back.

Karen,

If you have the energy, you should please try going out at night. I started at 3am then came home, then went back out at 5.30am and was convinced I heard my girl. I kept looking for another two hours and she was there. As it was so quiet, it was very easy to hear her. I too thought the worst, but I found this motivated me to search even harder for Izzy. She's now lying next to me in bed; she's grounded, but as selfish as it is, I'm delighted to have her home.

Hi Karen,

I agree with Lyndsey, Can You go out really late at night or even in the middle of the night ? (obv don't go alone, get someone to go with you)

I also agree with the others, dont start putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 as i also think this is just coinsurance

Good luck, we are all thinking of you xx

Not nice, but keep phoning the council to see if they've picked him up.

Try your very best to think positive and talk to her and tell her to com ehome.

Adverts in newspapers and shops and post offices and supermarkets and outside banks and post offices.

Still nothing. I guess I should change the title now it's been over 48 hours.  Just when I think I've cried all I can do then something happens to remind me that she isn't here ... like only putting one plate of food out, or Robbie sitting to one side of the food mat.  I keep thinking there must be more I could be doing to find her but I don't know what.

I just hope that she is somewhere warm and dry as the weather is turning bad here and forecast snow tomorrow.  :(

I'm trying to stay positive, I know cats do go off for adventures and return on their own...I just have to hope and pray that she will come home too.

Done everything on the list other than the  litter outside (she would never use the litter tray, always went out whatever the weather), something personal outside (weather on the turn but a blanket is planned for as soon as it dries up) and the vacuum cleaner contents (rarely gets used as laminated).  I've had no sightings at all.  Trying to sort an ad out for local paper and our local radio station has a community section that includes lost animals so sent a request to them to mention her.

It's horrible outside toninght, and I'm not entirely sure there is any point to the neighbourhood walk in weather like this.  Even the local kids aren't out being a nuisance!

Doesn't matter what the weather is like - you need to get out there.  Sorry if I sound harsh but you never know. I know you can't keep looking and shouting every minute - it's just heartbreaking and impossible but if you know where he usually hangs around then go there.

Might he have got in someone's car or work van - have any neighbours had any delivery vans or work vans - cos I'm certain that's how my Smudge got so far away when I found her.

Good luck .

You know I was going to say the same as Mary, but didn't want to sound harsh either. I'd walk in snow all night if it meant finding my girl. It's hard and emotionally draining but you need to be heard out there, as often as possible.

Well, there were more cats out tonight than there has been for last few nights but still no Lilly.  Alarm set for early morning wake up call. I'm more worried about tomorrow if she isn't home as there is a football match on at the local club and it gets very busy.   The cats are always in when football is on because of the traffic and amount of people in the area.   If she is out there on her own then this could make her more frightened.

I'm not giving up hope but the realisation is setting in that I can't do this forever, much as I may want to - my body just won't stand much more (waiting for a third back operation in as many years).  At some point I will have to accept that if there is no response from anything I have done then I  can do no more other than maintain hope of her return. Robbie is still here and is in need of love, cuddles and playing but is being somewhat neglected by the search for Lilly.  I'm in tears as I write that but I have to be practical.  I'm not giving up yet though!!!!  I'm hoping for a nice weekend with lots of people opening sheds and garages and a Lilly coming home!

Off to try and sleep.  Thanks for all your comments and suggestions, you've no idea how much they mean to me.

My heart goes out to you - and of course you cannot go on worrying yourself sick indefinitely. I suppose as time goes on it is less likely Lillie is in the immediate vicinity, but more likely she will turn up in a rescue or vet. And a response to your posters is more likely over a weekend when far more people are about in the daylight hours.

Yes you canno keep looking forever and by the end of the 10 days of Bunty going missing I wasn't going out ever hour godsends but I still kept releafleting and phoning round to double check.

By the end of the 10 days before she had come back everyone around me kept saying "you need to accept she is gone", stuff like that and that kille dme as I would have never accepted that, by the end I was the only one keeping the hope so prepare yourself for things like that people might say as it upset me and made me angry, even when hubby said it.    You know they are only trying to help but I was so raw it just hurt.

Never give up sweetie as if Lily is locked in someones garage and they ar eon holiday a persons holiday ranges from 7 days to 14 days so there is the hope of that.

Also if she is stuck somewhere and people are trying to get her out like in my Poppy's case they are aware she is there but haven't seen your leaflets yet or you haven't covered that area yet.    It only takes 1 leaflet to be seen for them to put 2 and 2 together and call.

Sorry about your back Karen, when Smudge went missing I was actually off work with a bad back and I don't know where I got my strength from.  It's so difficult knowing what to do for the best.  My first 7 months of searching was a waste of time etc. because he wasn't in my area.

All cats are different and most of them adapt and we just have to hope and pray.

Good luck.

Still not a sign of her and no phone call with any possible sightings.  Nothing.  She's just completely vanished.  Advert will be in paper tomorrow, should have been on radio today and planning the next batch of leaflets for weekend. Bitterly cold today with lots of snow so I hope she is safe somewhere.

Hope something good comes from the adverts honey.  Don't give up.  We got our bridge babe Sasha back after an advert in the local paper.  She was found about 2 miles away by a lovely lady who said that she was looking for an advert every day so she could call.

Well, still nothing but I have some neighbourhood kids looking at weekend, going searching through some hedges tonight (lots of overgrown bushes behind the house where the other cat disappeared from so the lady has kindly said that I can go into them!) and another treck round the neighbourhood in store - didn't go last night as football was on and there was no way on earth she would have come out of anywhere.  The advert should be in the paper now but still no calls.

I keep trying to persuade Robbie he should turn into a dog and track her down but he isn't having any of it.

By now, if she could have come home on her own she would have done and I'm resigned now to the fact that after all this is done then other than keeping the profile up then there is nothing more I can do.

Thanks for the continued good wishes. I'll keep you all updated.

Because Misa and Sasa are such good buddies, when Sasa goes missing for any time, Misa always goes out and finds her. When she went AWOL for a week Misa knew where she was hiding and a neighbour saw them together in her garden at night but it took another 3-4 days before Misa got her coming back to my garden and I saw them at the bottom.  ;D

So jst keep trying and am sure she will be home

Many moons ago my cat got out.  She was an in door cat so did not know the area.

3 weeks later she was living across 2 roads in a church yard, not very far at all.  She was spotted by a dog walker, who phoned me, because the village had so many of my posters around.  I had given up.

I feel so much for you, it is still early days, keep pestering the coummunity around you, and do not believe anything people say to you.  I was told so often because she was old that she had gone away to die.

Still not a thing.  I'm praying for nice weather at weekend that will drive people into their gardens and open their sheds/garages!  The fates are working against me and we are forecast heavy rain on Saturday and light snow on Sunday.  Approached several communicators over the last few days - one of which told me without seeing a picture or having any information about Lilly that she was still close by and fine, and ran off because she was scared and is now hidden and scared to come out!  Not quite sure how she worked that out from the brief email I sent.......  The only thing with this one was that she mentioned she may be under a shed (and when I searched through the hedges yesterday there were two sheds with gaps under them that I couldn't get to to nosy into - another job for the weekend)

I'm waiting on a reading from someone who took photos off me (and payment!) and hopefully this will bring some new information or leads.   As with anything though, it's knowing who to trust and who is out to take advantage but I have to try everything possible.

I've also registered her on animalsearchuk who have offered to print posters and flyers for me (at a cost which will be paid by insurance company) - the advantage of this being that they have a freephone number and anyone with information would ring that and not speak to me at all (people may be more likely to come forward with any information if not speaking to the owner).  Not sure how successful this will be and will see what the weekend and communicator brings first.

Was out again and still not a sign of her.   At the start of the week I had a gut feeling that she was either a long way away or had died but as the week has gone on she is feeling closer.  I know it sounds strange and is probably wishful thinking but I have to keep hoping.

Keep your chin up Karen and keep searching - took me 7 months but I knew I could never stop.

I hope some good comes out of the person who is giving you a reading - you never know who you can trust and unfortunately there are people out there that will take advantage of you being so upset.

You mentioned a while ago about the footbal match - have you put posters up in that area?  I know you said that she will be scared but you never know, someone might see her.

Good luck.

Still no news on Lilly and hope is becoming very thin on the ground.  This next bit will probably upset and sicken you.

I mentioned earlier on that another cat had gone missing on the same day, a few doors away from me (we are almost attached via a garden, the back corner of mine almost meets her back corner so we are pretty close.)  The corner where the gardens join is quite overgrown and inaccessible from my garden but the lady let me go through her garden to see whether there was anything in there.  I did this on Thursday but found nothing.  I kept thinking about it and was drawn back yesterday and looked under the sheds in the area at the same time when it was darker and quieter but found nothing at all.  Before coming home I knocked on her neighbours door to see if I could have a quick look round his garden which is quite overgrown.  He was in but wouldn't answer the door and I couldn't go into his garden as he would have seen me (and probably have me arrested!)

Today I have a phone call from Joan saying she had found her cat's body...........pushed through the hedge from the side that wouldn't answer the door.   :censored:  There are no visible signs of injury so she is taking him for a post mortem on Monday morning at her vets.  He wasn't there on any of the occassions I went round and wasn't there this morning.  She has been in all day and no-one came past her windows.  She struggled to get him out of the hedge so he was clearly put there from the other side.

I just can't understand how anyone could do that.  If he found the cat in his garden and didn't want to tell her in case she though he had killed it (which is possible) then why not wait until night and put it in her front garden.  I suppose we should be thankful he didn't just throw him into a bin.  RIP Twinks.

The thing is now I am more than convinced I willl find Lilly in the same way - except he probably doesn't know where she has come from so she may end up in a bin.  He's had the flyer but may be worried about ringing about her.  If she is there at all.

Tomorrow my sister is going to knock on his door and see if we can ransack his garden (just in case he recognises me and thinks I am linked to his neighbour). If he is in and doesn't answer then I'm not sure what I will do.  The other option is waiting for him to go to work on Monday and going in without permission - which I will do but would rather have his permission and do it a day earlier.  If she has died then a day won't make any difference but if some miracle she is still alive then the timing will be critical.

I'm not for one minute suggesting he may have poisoned Twinks deliberately but to push him through a hedge is awful.  I'm in bits again through this - I am so angry that she has Twinks back and I still haven't found Lilly (and I hate myself for feeling that way) but I'm relieved that I can still have some hope.

I agree with Michelle, sod the neighbour, Lilly is much more important then upsetting the neighbour, i would go round when its all quiet and call her name and listen for any responce and also look everywhere i possibly could the worst he can do is call the police, and then all you have to do is say you knocked several times ,got no reply so assumed he was out.Good Luck and i do hope you find her safe and well

I live in Lancs - had to go out earlier after posting or would have done something and now too dark to see anything.    If she is there I don't expect to find her alive. Have been out calling in the area but it's blowing a gale and couldn't hear anything.  When it goes quieter later I'll try again.

The ball idea is definitely a good one - his garden is on a corner plot as well so it would be easy to do!

Will be out again first thing tomorrow to see what can be seen.

I've got sister (and probably nephew, neice and brother-in-law) all with me tomorrow so I should be fine.  I will need to make sure the two very excitable border collies that live next door to this guy are kept inside - if she is alive and hidden she will not make herself known whilst they are out and barking.  And if by some miracle I find Lilly in his garden (alive or dead) there may be all kinds of trouble!    Even if she isn't there I'm considering causing all kinds of trouble anyway for pushing Twinks through the hedge.   God help him if the post mortem on Twinks shows anything other than death by natural causes - his owner is very upset (understandably) about it all.

Well, I'm back. The neighbour was perfectly friendly and more than happy for me to explore the garden.  I *really* thought I would find her body in the garden but there was absolutely nothing there.  I've done yet another wander round with leaflets but no joy whatsoever.

I'm waiting for a write-up from the communicator - I spoke to her briefly and she did think that Lilly was still alive but trapped somewhere - and the overwhelming feeling that I will find her.  As harsh as it sounds, at this moment I think I would almost have preferred to hear that she had died than believe she is trapped alive somewhere but that I can't find her.  But where there may be life there may be hope.

So, no real news either way and I don't know how much longer I can go on.

That confidence was coming from Lilly though not the communicator!  The communication was quite specific about where she was but I can't for the life of me think where it may be.  There are a couple of possibilities which will need to wait until tomorrow before going to them.

A couple of the questions asked:

How are you physically?  ...... Weary of not being at home; bored but patient.  I know I’ll be found.
And mentally, how are you?  ......  I’m waiting; cats can wait a long time, you know. I need to be found but it will be when the time is right.  I can endure it longer though.

Another response to a question was:

I will wait here. I will be found [& she ‘smiles’].

If there is anything in all of this she is so confident that she will be found but I haven't a clue as to where she is.  The only thing that I can hope at the moment is that someone opens the shed door she is supposedly in and she finds the strength and confidence to escape that way.

I'm so glad the neighbour let you in, at least that's one big 'what-if' off the list.  What was the weather like with you this weekend?  Am thinking along the lines of people going back into sheds/garages.  If it's been rubbish maybe you could do another set of flyers asking people to please open their sheds and garages to check she's not in there.

I feel like a stuck record cos Ive mentioned this a few times but.....

When my Baz went missing (he was a cat who never stayed away for even a couple of hours), He was found through the leaflet method 13 days later in a lock up/work garage type thingy.....He had lived on spiders and dew for the time he spent locked up!

The lock up I passed approx 2 to 3 times a day as it was litterally about 50 yards away from the house, I never heard him cry/meoww! And was really suprised that he was only that short distance from me...

Dont rule out somewhere if it looks in good repair, Baz had dropped in via the roof and could'nt get back up to get out! Sometimes they are not as far away as you think!

Good Luck again.....x

I'll never give up hoping she'll return. If she is stuck in a shed or garage then sooner or later I'm sure it will have to be opened - just hope she survives long enough to be strong enough to get home.  If she is straying and gets picked up then she is chipped so should make her way back to me.  Just ordered some leaflets for another leafleting campaign.  Going to put her picture up on Facebook on my hometown page so that may get a few more people looking!  Also putting a posted in my car 'cos you never know who may see it and recognise her.

From the communication, the only places that we could think that of where she may be don't exist any more so back to square one.

I just have to trust that she has got herself into this and she will get herself out of it and find her way home!  It's the risk I took when allowing her to be an outdoor cat (not that wild horses would have kept her inside!).

There'll always be hope unless evidence appears to the contrary.

I have literally tried everything I can think of to find her (and got numerous scars and bruises from going through undergrowth that grown women shouldn't go through!) but am accepting that I probably won't see her again.  I still hope she will return but I think it's a forlorn hope.  There has just been no sightings of her at all.  I'm praying for a nice weekend with lots of sheds being opened  but if she isn't home after this weekend then I think there is little else I can do other than hope and pray for her safe return.

It's heartbreaking but I have to be realistic - she is chipped so if she is picked up by anyone as a stray she should make her way back to me.  Who knows - in a few weeks/months/years time there may be a miracle story about her turning up!

I have somehow managed to overlook this thread.

A couple of years ago I reunited a cat, Zsa Zsa, with her family after she had been missing from home and living rough for three months.  She just turned up in our garden one day: she'd been living in a little open area nearby, apparently.  She was in perfect health, just a little thinner than when she'd sauntered off.  Her family had given up hope - try not to do that

One thing - this little open area was only about 500 yards from Zsa Zsa's home, in a more-or-less straight line, but it was the other side of a churchyard and a warren of back gardens.  So I would say, try to imagine Lilly's possible routes from a cat's point of view, rather than a human one.
Title: Re: When is a cat officially missing?
Post by: Sootyca on March 17, 2009, 20:11:59 PM
Still nothing - done another sweep of the area, including places she has been seen previously.    Had a phone call from someone about a mile away but nothing came of it (different cat, not as pretty as Lilly apparently!).  And more encouragingly, a phone call from someone about 10 doors away on the other side of the road who thinks she was in their garden on Sunday but she ran off and we have been round daily at different times since then and nothing.  At least people are still looking out for her.

I'm still hoping she will be a miracle cat who returns home after being absent for weeks/months/years or gets picked up and scanned.  All the posters are still dotted around and I have cars acting as moving advertisements for her so the search isn't over......just not very productive.

News on my neighbours cat that went missing at the same time - he had been in an accident, but only dead for 24-48 hours when he was found so not sure where he had been for the 4-5 days he was gone.  At least he wasn't poisoned (which was our big fear).

I do feel guilty that I have let her down by allowing her her freedom...it's ironic that I always made her stay in overnight to keep her safer and she still goes missing anyway.  I console myself with the knowledge she would have hated to be an indoor cat.  Now I just have to persuade Robbie that he wants to be an only cat - he keeps meowing at himself in the mirror and chatting to neighbourhood cats that he previously ignored!

Nothing I'm afraid.  4 weeks on Sunday with no sight or sound of her.  Still devastated.    :'(

I know you must feel like losing hope as time goes on but don't give up, Pinkbear's Tilly was missing for 3 months and was found very close by. Do you have pet insurance? A lot of policies have a lost allowance which you could either pay someone to print and distribute posters/leaflets or offer a large reward.  Worth looking into if she is insured

Hi Karen

Any news on your Lilly yet?
I am a new member and know exactly what you are going through, my handsome little cat Ted went missing 2 weeks ago today. I have done everything possible to find him and I truly have the feeling he's not far away. I try to remain hopeful and hope that if he is shut in somewhere he has the strength to make it home. I have good days and bad days - today has been a bad one with several bouts of crying.
Another hour and I will go for my usual walk around the area in the hope he will hear me and I will hear him.

I hope we both have some good news soon.

Dawn

Nope, she is still not home.  4 and a half months and not a day goes by when I don't miss her or think of her.   It's the not knowing what has happened that is the worst.  She is chipped so if she is found and taken to a vets then she will come back to me.

You would think in this day and age that there would be a way to fit a tiny tracking device into the microchip so they can be activated when out and about and located easily!  I love the idea of the ones that go on the collars but it relies on the collar staying on (and I'm not a huge fan of putting a collar on anyway).

Hope Munki, Ted, Lilly and all missing cats all come home safely.  With it being summertime, maybe they have gotten into someone's house or shed who have gone on holiday and when they come back and open up the house/shed/garage again they may come home.  I was out through the night for Lilly - if disorientated they are more likely to come out when it is really quiet (2 or 3am).  It didn't do me much good as she was obviously never found but the number of other cats I saw around was unbelievable!

Welcome to Purrs, Dawn - sorry it has been your missing Ted that has brought you here.

Take care of yourselves and keep positive - no news is still good news as there is still hope.

Sorry to hear that!

It's natural for us to think that we'll never see them again but the more I read on the net, the more amazing stories I read. Cats that go for 6 months to a year then wander back.

I remember when I was little and we used to have a cat that stayed with us for weeks then disappear. This was a regular cycle. Heaven knows who she belonged to but it makes you wonder if thats what our cats are doing!

My Munki has been gone for 2 weeks tomorrow so I know how you feel. Lets just hope they head home soon. xxx

Just wanted to say thinking of everyone whos cats are missing and am hoping they come home safe soon. I worry after my cat has been missing more than 12 hours so I can not imagine how you all must feel. My friends cat went missing for 3 months and came home. Only a few days ago I saw a story in the paper about a cat who was bought home 3 years later. She was only living 5 streets away, after an old lady thought she was a stray. There are some incredible stories out there. Never give up hope. I always think no news is good news in many ways, as if a cat has been ran over or in an accident and died, someone usually finds it, and calls the owner. Thinking of you all x

Although for many, many years my cats were indoor cats, I remember once when my Tricky was ½ an hour late, I just knew there was a kept going to the bottom of the garden and looking at a greenhouse in a garden the other side of a path at the back of our house and something kept telling me Tricky is in there, the only problem was that there were always 3 aggressive dogs in the garden. There was loads of gardens with sheds,/outhouse doors open but each time I walked down our garden path I was drawn to that greenhouse, my eyes just would go  any further. A little later the dogs when the dogs were not in the garden  I went in the back gate, looked in the greenhouse and there was my Tricky.

I always say to people as soon as you think your cat is missing contact as many people as possible as the sooner you try to find the little one the greater chance you have of getting it back. It never ceases to amaze me how many people wait a week or two before ringing round. AS we all know with some rescues had a cat been in a week and an owner not found what the outcome would be.  :(
