Title: 18 month old (approx) tabby cat needing home - Derbyshire
Post by: JackSpratt on January 18, 2009, 15:15:29 PM
Posted on a local Freecycle - can anyone offer this little one a home? (Or even a rescue placement?)

We have recently acquired a homeless female tabby cat who is approx 18
months old with beautiful big eyes. Although she spends a lot of time
outdoors she is friendly. We cannot trace the owner or her original
home so we intend to pass her on to the RSPCA if there are no takers.

Do they have "No PTS" policies?( I understand if an animal is ill and nothing at all can be done.) If so, then please send the details - thanks. :) I've talked to my cousin who is looking for a third cat, but can't take one until May/June as her and her partner currently lodge with my uncle and can't don't feel the house is big enough. If anyone could foster, she's prepared to offer this one a permanent home. (As long as her two take to said lady!)

both rescues work together and  have  no PTS policy. i know the people who run both rescues and  2     of  our cats were from there. kirkby cat rescue 01623756592  07970356581. burton joyce cats 07881430387. do you know anything about her apart from her age like what she like with other cats etc?  good luck with her.  bramble

I help out at Kirkby cats home and know Phil Clarke very well and have done for almost 15yrs, he would never under any circumstances allow a cat to be PTS unless there was no hope, Phil also works in conjunction with Janice from Burton Joyce cat rescue, as im going there tomorrow i will ask Phil if he has room for Bramble altho  yesterday he was full ,but knowing him he will if possible

Thanks guys! Just wish I could find a fosterer until May/June. My cousin has a real soft spot for tabbies, and this little one is the same age approximately as her other two.

Situation is possibly resolved. The girl that has the cat has said she'll continue to care for her until as close as she can to my cousin moving. Am passing on her phone number to my cousin tonight. :)

Sadly, it was decided that the original plan isn't practical.

Just received this:

"Great news. We took Puss to the vets recently as she appeared to have some difficulties eating and the vet confirmed she was actually microchipped. The vet was fortunately able to trace the owners who were delighted to have found her! It appears she was from a completely different area of the town and must have wandered miles from her home. So, a very happy ending to the story."

Shame it took her having difficulties to get them to take the lady in question to the vet, but glad the end result was good. :)

Thats a relief, i always encourage people to have their strays scanned, you just never know if theres an owner pulling their hair out somewhere
