Title: Gorgeous kitten for rehoming Nothumberland (HOMED)
Post by: motherhen3 on December 08, 2008, 14:25:01 PM
hi - on behalf of PARRT - people's animal rescue and rehoming team - based in northumberland and tyne and wear (will rehome further afield, depending in circumstances) -

i have in my foster care a lovely tabby/white sh boy - which we have named Basil. he is apporx 9/10 weeks

he came to me a few weeks ago with his sister - they were rescued from an industrial site - feral. His sister was a little gem, but Basil took a lilttle longer to decide that cuddles aren't that bad. After a couple of weeks of spitting/hissing/growling etc... Basil is now a super little trooper.

He is used to a large family of children, and general household noises. We don't have a dog. But he does tend to play rough.

We recently had someone very interested in rehoming him - however, Basil made me into a pinnochio, as i was describing his loving and mischieveous character over the phone, and low and behold, on a visit - Basil decided to lower his ears, hiss and become very unfriendly. However, after 30mins, he did begin to become more curious.
But, Basil is still looking for a home.

He is a typical, curious kitten - but he will need time to settle in with a new owner and surroundings, as he is only familiar with my immediate family.

his sister has just been rehomed - basil would love a new home.

If you would like to consider adopting Basil please contact parrts office number on 01665 711451 or pm myself.

Hi Motherhen, you might like to got back into your original post and edit the title to give a bit more of a clue what the subject and location is

e.g. 'kitten, northumberland needs home' or similar. Kitten, by itself, it is a bit too vague to attract the attention of people who may be able to help.

This little guy's gorgeous and not far from me at all.   Paddy's too old and too poorly for me to want to stress him out with a new arrival though, otherwise I'd have popped this little feller in me pocket and smuggled him home, methinks.   :Luv:  I hope he gets a good home very soon.

It's a shame the Padster would be stressed out...the wee one would get spoilt rotten with you! You'll have to ask around..... ;)

I know, bless him.  He's a peace and quiet fan though, and he's earned the right.  Having a mini monster in the house might be good for him, but I daren't take that chance, just in case.  (Not that I'm suggesting Basil is in any way a monster - but he looks like an Intrepid Explorer kittie, doesn't he!  ;) :evillaugh: )

hi,

Basil is approx 13wks now.

We don't have any other kittens/cats in our foster care at mo, so i am not sure how he would be with other cats/kittens.

But he is quite young - very playful, can be rough in play, but very affectionate -  he may be quite happy to have some feline company. :)

hope this helps

Are you sure....? :innocent: Jack wasn't especially fond of Asteroid on arrival.(Bloomin' small squeaky thing being cute and trying to cuddle him; yeuch!) No they sleep on cushins together and run around the house playing!

Not altogether sure, no JS, but when Paddy was four, we acquired my lost boy - Flynn.  He was an 8 week old kitten, and Paddy really couldn't stand him.  He'd go out if Flynn came in and he'd run off and hide when Flynn tried to play.  We had Flynn for 4 years before he went missing, but after he'd gone, Paddy became a much happier and more settled cat.  With him being old and with all of his health issues, I'd feel awful if he couldn't feel settled and comfy for his remaining time left to us.  I know he wasn't supposed to see December, but he did, bless him.

Having said that, when we were looking after a 3 month old kitten of a friend, Paddy was more curious and off-hand than outright offended, although maybe he knew he wasn't staying for long.....

It's horrible this, 'cos he looks such a canny little cat, and I know Tess would be no bother with him.  Not sure about OH though.....   :no no:

I know what you mean. I get worried when youngsters come to stay...Old Mog is so easily confused, and Spratt can be a grumpy old so and so. Sage just panics about everything! Asteroid has pretty much managed to win them over though; even Sage plays with her from time to time! :Luv:

Basil is lovely - I'm utterly amazed he's still looking.

He's lovely and If I was in more certain circumstances (aka having a job/maybe not moving in a few months) I would deffinately consider taking him. :( Poo.

hi - more piccys.- keeping me warm whilst having a wee rest.

basil still looking for a home.
almost 14//15 wks in age.

he is lovely - only draw back (for a few ) could be that  he really does play rough. to greet u - he will either want a cuddle, or goes straight  into play mode. and sometime he will run, attach himself to ur lower leg,(or arms) with claws and teeth (firmly, but not where he would break skin) It's very similar to when two kittens play - which can be quite rough.
A very firm NO - seems to do the trick - then you have to throw and fetch his toys with him. Good bit of string etc......

i think he would benefit from another feline for company, and in play.

If I wasn't moving half way round the world I may just have caved in for this little one, he looks lovely and he and Dave may have entertained each other instead of my face bearing the brunt of Dave's exertions!
