Title: Hello cat lovers
Post by: KrazyKatLover on September 12, 2008, 20:20:17 PM
Hi all,

just registered and thought I would introduce myself.

We just got a kitten 5/6 weeks ago, he was 9 weeks old when he arrived.  We were told he was a she and called him Kayla until we took him to the vet after two weeks for his injections and were told different. He is now Rocky!  Have always wanted a cat but hubby not a cat lover.  My son (22) has wanted one since about 8 yrs old and hubby finally relented and found us one through a friend at work and now he loves him as much as us although he tries to act cool about it.  8)

Rocky is mad as a hatter, only problem is the tearing of the wallpaper in the hall ( which was fairly new ) and I can't beleive how easy it is to forgive him.  He loves to sleep on his back and stretch out - I have never seen that with cats before but it has been a long time since my childhood when we had cats.

Hello &  :welcome: to Purrs,

Rocky is  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:.  I would suggest if you haven't already got him one ... get a scratch post for him and hopefully this will be preferable to the hall wallpaper  ;)

I also read somewhere that if you spray the area he is scratching with a aerosal deodorant it should put him off doing it again (I can't vouch for how effective this method is though).

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome.

Sam (Fussy furball) - we've had a scratching post for him since day one - so not interested.  Tried rubbing catnip into it and still no joy.

Christine (Blip) - got the training spray and not sure if it is successful as now somedays he's ok and others he's not.  I think you have to keep spraying every day!!

Gill (sneakyfeline) - he is gorgeous but don't know if I agree about the big ears!  Certainly won't mention it too Rocky as I don't want him getting a complex!

Rocky is gorgeous. One of my girls sleeps on her back but with her legs curled in against her tummy. Its so cute. Have you tried some of the scratching toys that lie flat on the ground instead, some cats prefer to scratch on a vertical surface rather than a horizontal one.
