Title: Hi I am New
Post by: oriental cat lover (Lisa) on January 04, 2007, 17:31:40 PM
Hi all

I am new, I have an oriental havana cat called Otis, who lives with an old lurcher dog called Saffie, and our bedlington terrier Herbie.

We also have two horses (who own me, not the other way round) called Harvey and Mia.

I look forward to hearing from you. X

Hi Everyone,
thanks for the lovely welcome, yes he is VERY vocal, spoiled rotten and has his own bedroom! He is scared of everything! including guinea pigs he hates them! The dogs eat his food when they can, and run over the top of him to get there first, and he just flops onto his side and has a wash, life is too short that is his attitude! He has already been under two cars and come out of the other side with a few scars to show for it, but we have trouble keeping him in he escapes through any window he can.

LOL ....sounds just like every other "oriental / foreign" I have ever met.  Very vocal, very smart and very spoilt.  I was brought up with Siameses and have a very big soft spot for chatty cats.

Hi Tan
The colour is classed as Havana, I went to see him when he was 2 weeks old and he fitted into the palm of my hand, it was love at first sight. He had the biggest ears in the litter, my hubby said he looked like a baby bat!!

He is on my knee now clinging on for dear life because the heating has not been on, while I was out and he is cold. I havent payed him much attention this last week, because I have been swotting for my final midwifery exams, which I took today! Phew!! (fingers crossed everyone)

When I get a job as a midwife I am thinking about buying a sister for him,  for company while I am out. Is that a good idea? or should I have bought two when he was younger.

How old is he? You might want to read up on introducing cats before you get another one, if done right, you have a good chance of him accepting a new cat, and it doesnt necessarily have to be female.

Hi is five, but a wimp although he rules us, he is placid around other animals. I will read around the subject as you suggested. :thanks:

I intend on getting another oriental kitten and I would have to chose the right one so I would have plenty of time to prepare as they do not leave their mother, until they are 14 weeks old, and I would like to chose her at about 6 weeks.

Does anyone know a good breeder? I live in West Yorks but can travel, (otis breeder gave up,) I would like to have a recommendation rather than look through a directory. It seems more personal.

Then you can have lots of piccies of cuddly wuddly kitties, oh oh I am going soppy again! :Luv:

Ooooh, Otis is gorgeous.  I'd love an Havana, such a warm colour but we've only just got our Balinese kitten Eric so might have to slow down for a while, we already have a half Siamese, a gorgeous mog and an Oriental longhair :Luv:

Re breeders: well we got our OLH from Pippa Browning (just google Pippastro and you can find her website), she breeds oriental shorthairs as well and I have to say that our Pru is just wonderful, good temperment but doesn't take any nonsense from the dogs (rottie, collie and greyhound)!!
